It takes some work. After living in Seoul for nearly ten years, I've since moved 80 km down south to "Other Areas", and it's been easier. I talked about before here. Fu**ing miss Seoul, but still go to Seoul at least one or two times a month and meet my Korean Adjuma GF and vice a versa. Mongering is just a hobby when home life get's in the way form meeting. Reading and speaking Korean will pay dividends, but that takes work. Mongering is not NEARLY easy here as it is in South East Asian countries.

I never tried officetels or the anmas. I really liked the Lip Cafes. The girls are almost all young student types and I had more than one agree to meet me outside at a love motel later. If you are youngish I know people that have been able to get extras Kiss Bangs including up to FS but the places tend to discourage it. Again young college students and YMMV in talking them into meeting you for some extra money. When I was there everyone was all using Kaokao as a messaging service including all the rooms. With a little Google translate I was able to set appointments etc. I would often tell them I was American living in Korea to avoid being turned away at the door. Definitely a few ghosted me or just refused but most didn't. I only had one Lip Cafe turn me away as a girl working refused at the time.

The best thing if course is to have a Korean friend take you around or help negotiate / explain. In my experience that really opens up most of closed Korea. Rockit Reports has a list of foreigner friendly anmas etc. As well. However, I don't think it is up to date.

Can anyone tell me what really goes on at those old-style beer drinking cabin-like bars that have pictures of a couple smooching, or something similar, and a frosted or mirrored door? When you find them, they are several small bars all in a line. I once went in, many years ago, and paid 35,000 for 5 beers. Two women sat and hacked through talking to me. One was rough, but hot. I was too green to ask directly if I could get some extra services. That, or they didn't get it -- can't remember.

I happened across a street still full of these places, and walked into one, tonight. 5 beers is now 50,000 won. I was told she didn't want to serve me, due to language difficulties.

Do Korean men just go to these places to have a woman to drink and talk with? Does anything happen in there? It seems to serve the 50+ set, and I am frankly amazed some of these places are still around?
