Unfortunately around that time there are less people on the street. I end up walking a lot of times and I personally don't walk on the sidewalks at that time of the night. I try to walk on the street and away from the sidewalks. It gives you less chance to get surrounded by unmovable barriers. I personally look around constantly when walking to see if anyone is coming.
