An alternative...
<...>So tell me is it better to go to a bar and pick up rather than dial a girl in? WHy so? Isnt it way too much of time and effort invested to to go a physical place, drink and inhale the heavy smoken laden atmosphere, and then pick up a girl. ISnt it sooo much easier to call an agency and have the served up to you? Even if all you pros here prefer the more macho pick up routine, arent there anyone who tries or wants to know about the dial in options?
Dude,
There are taxi drivers that will take you to out-of-the-way places where you can choose your partner. No smoky bars. No lady drinks. Just give him 200-300 peso. Quick and clean.
I found one by perusing this very forum. He'll take you to a place where there will be 15-20 young lovelies all willing to satisfy your urges. The only problem is, you need to start filtering: "girls with no baby"; "girls under 25", etc.
Good luck,
-Y

I have no experience with calling escorts in the PI, so cannot speak from experience there. Common sense says the danger of dial in is you never know what you will get AKA seeing is believing. Some, myself inmcluded, also enjoy the thrill of the hunt but for those that just want to get straight to the kill so to speak calling escorts might make sense. You certainly will pay more for the convenience. I would worry more about bait and switch (ie girl does not match photo, does not deliver as promised, etc.) than tropublewith the police though.
While prostitution is technically illegal in the PI, IMHO you'd have to be pretty stupid, unlucky, or both to have ANY legal issues from paying for sex provided you stick to legal aged girls. If you DON't PAY as agreed, THEN you may well have problems with the PNP (who will help a hooker collect a fee, and will add on a service fee for their efforts in collecting from the deadbeat John).
I hate smoky bars more than most guys, but PI is generally not that bad in that regard (unlike Japan, Indonesia, Spain etc.)
Good luck if you try it.
great info. Will check that out. My friend put that IMAX in Manila so I hope it does well. Any nice hotel within walking distance of Grenbelt1?
Take your pick. Shangri-La, Dusit, Peninsula (but you may run into your friend Senator Don), Mandarin Oriental, Renaissance, etc.
Soju Lizard: Greenbelt 1 is the place with Cafe Havana and so on. I didn't see much of interest in the other 2 Greenbelts. From there all the way over to the Dusit, including Glorietta and where Hard Rock is located, is mostly covered or indoors so you don't have to worry about weather much.
LAS. Didn't see it in the Manila section. I've been eagerly awaiting your report. Your report of distinction on the Makati bars is the best FR I've ever seen on Makati. It's become my bible. LOL.
Thanks
Thanks, but don't confuse my Makati bar report with the bible. While the scene in Makati is very similar to the bible (boy meets girl, boy bangs girl, boy says "it isn't mine", girl says "I'm still a virgin), the stories in the bible don't change from month to month, but Makati bars change weekly. Using that report is like betting on a team based on last months roster. I'll try and update it when I find some time. Also, my Malate report is now posted in the Manila section.

Trip to Manlia
I have been to Manila before and know the score about Burgos, didn't check out any other areas. I will be staying near greenbelt. Do you have any recommendations of bars that I can meet girls who aren't on duty? I am in town for 2 days and would like to do a hit and run.

Senior's sensible advise

Thanks and thanks bro Yi ren. May be i am past the prime and therefore not so hooked to hunting. But Yi, your idea of the cab ride sounds engaging. I will get on that this trip. hope he takes me for a fun trip rather than a rip ride!

Many of the bars in Greenbelt and Glorietta malls are happy hunting grounds but don't go too early. I would say 10 pm at the earliest. I like the outdoor seating area of Cafe Havana or Club Havana [can't ever remember the name] next to the Starbucks in Greenbelt 3 and also Hard Rock Cafe in the bar area.

Hard Rock is known for having pros and semi-pros. I've only been there once or twice but the only regular girls I have seen there were with guys. The rest were obviously working girls...

Pdp
I heard from a girl working there that PNP showed up in full effect last Saturday.

Some folks say Cafe Havana is in GB1, others say it's in GB3. A detailed and accurate field report of the area would be much appreciated to include areas were freelancers congregate, taxi drop off points, areas to avoid, etc. It's a prime area I think for mongering but there is a lot of conflicting info here. Also (unrelated), where is Harrisons Mall?
Thanks for any assistance.

It is very confusing to me too. I am not even sure Starbucks and Club Havana are in the same mall. Their outdoor seating is across the patio from each other. I think Green belt 1, 2 and 3 form sort of a circle. I just keep asking for directions. Ask the pretty girls! :D

Club Havana is in GB3. There's a Starbucks next to Havana which also is in GB3 of course, but on the outside of the GB1 mall there's also another Starbucks. I'll try to break it down.
GB1 is the oldest of the four. It's the mall along Paseo De Roxas and there's a drop off point and taxi stand there. At the outside of the mall there are more shops and some restaurants. It's not really a place for any pick ups.
GB2 is next to GB1 and consists only of restaurants, a parking lot, a few regular bars and a nice bakery shop. All restaurants and bars are at the ground floor. It's easy to recognize because all the restaurants are next to each other, have big terraces and at some nights there's live music on a small stage.
GB3 is the next one. It has Club Havana, consists of three or four floors and has a nice cinema on the second floor. This is the best place for pick ups. At night Club Havana and Starbucks on the ground floor are the places for that.
GB4 is the last one and is pretty small. Build at the flyover which you can use to walk to the Glorietta malls. On the ground floor there are the more expensive shops from brands like louis vuitton, gucci, etc...
Between GB3 and GB4 is the main drop off point for taxis. It's along makati avenue.

Thanks for the GB breakdown WW. That really helps a lot. GB3 it is!
I just wanted to throw my 2 pisos in regarding the call girl vs. pickup discussion below.
Personally I love call girls...when I'm in the US or other countries that don't have 1,000 GRO's within 10 minutes of my hotel. Call girls are easy, convenient and always end with a happy finish. The problem is it's a roll of the dice every time. Not so much in the looks department, but in the personality department. Rarely you'll ever get a GFE with a call girl and I've even had a couple break out a portable alarm clock and set the time for when they have to leave. Kind of put a damper on the mood if you know what I mean. But in the US and other conservative morally uptight countries, there really is no other choice.
In the Philippines, IMHO, it's really worth a little of your time to go out and seek a GRO or FL that you know will be your style. Usually a 10 minute taxi ride takes you where you need to go and then you can barhop a little bit and view hundreds of ladies and window shop for what you want. Calling one (or a few) to your table and chatting over a couple of drinks will let you know very quickly which one(s) have the personality you like. Not to mention, it's a great experience enjoying all of the attention you'll recieve from dozens of young cute hotties.
Unless you're really pinched for time, like a 3-4 hour layover and then you fly out, you are really missing out on a great experience that you'll never forget by staying in your room and ordering up a "pizza". For less money and just a little bit of your free time, you can experience an all you can eat buffet that you'll be telling your grandkids about someday.

You are really convincing me brother. I have one last niggling problem. I am with a few colleagues and I dont want them to see me with a 'hot young cutie' hanging on my arm! IN Makati, I also have a whole load of business associates with whom I want preserve my prim and proper stance. Presents a problem doesnt it?
-
Someone once told me...
that the reason why places like AF1 and other established places don't get raided is because the police might knock the door down and find their boss.
So, Road, if you barhop, you'll probably run into your collegues/business associates with a 'cute young hottie'. I have similar issues when I visit MNL, but I do it anyway. In most likelihood, they're doing the same.
