Mates,
I want to plan a trip in Dec to Bangkok and Pattaya. Any information regarding prices, nice hotels, buses to and from each location would help. I can't go through hundreds of pages of this.
Forum and read!
Cheers!
I like to agoda or expedia to find hotels in Bangkok and Pattaya. Reading the reviews on the hotels from guests, looking at the pictures and finding hotels in your price range helps a lot too. Oh and one more thing! If you use the map feature to see the surrounding area, you can see how far away from everything you are. For instance, in Bangkok, I like to stay near the monorail along with Soi Cowboy.
Good luck and have fun with your trip bro!

Soi 16
Anyone have any experience with the foreign freelancers who hang out around the middle-eastern area of Soi 16 off walking street.

Just skip any preparation at all. Go without a reservation to Soi 12 cheek in one of the hotels opposite LEK.
After 24h you will know it all

Soi 7 and 8
I've spent the last week trawling around the many bars in and around Soi 7 and 8.
I've been pleasantly surprised at the number of gems (subjective I know) in amongst all the girls available.
I've barfined from Poker and Lucky Star bar at the end of Soi 8 facing the beach, also from Rolling Stone Soi 8 who was only 18 and cute as hell, from UK and Aussie bar and 1 or 2 others who names I cannot remember on Soi 7.
All 300 THB, BF and easy to get 1000 THB for LT although in a couple of cases I paid 1500 THB but they left shortly before they were due back to start again at their bar.
The best perfomer was 38, she looked 28, had a cracking body despite 2 kids and not an ounce of tummy anywhere to be seen and the best breast enhancement I have seen, from UK bar, she's now moved on to a new place and yet to find out where.
All good performers, a couple a 3 holers, the 18 year old needed some encouragement to BJ but soon got the hang of it.
You've just got to love the so called low season.

Soi 16

Very crazy area around 3am.
So do I. If they then stand there silently looking confused, and perhaps teary eyed, I say, ok 2000 to 5000 baht!
For sure, then, they have imaginations of what I'll be asking of them in the sack.
And that this won't be a 4 minute Tokyo length quickie.
Or they may also may be in disbelief & near to fainting.

AC / DC. Dirty deeds done dirt cheap.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_t5GPbp5IY&feature=related
During my long experience, I sometimes overpaid, sometimes underpaid (compared to the price I assume the girl usually gets) , same for monger friends who were with me. I did not particularly noticed a correlation between the price I paid and the performance I (or my friends) got. I noticed a high correlation with (1) Choosing the right girl (I cannot explain how, it's a question of experience and intuition) , and (2) with the customer's attitude.

Buses to / from Pattaya

Cheers!
Buses are leaving every 30 min from EKAMAI bus station a few meters away from the Ekamai station of sky train. Price about 125 baht.
Mini vans are leaving every 30 min from Victory Monument square. Price 120 baht.
Best one if you are a newcomer is http://www.belltravelservice.com/ Door to door service for 350 baht.
Taxis for about 1200 baht. Do negotiate in advance though.
Take your pick.

BKK Pattaya

Door to door service for 350 baht.
I think you're better off and quicker to take the train to the airport 40 bt, and take the bell bus from there for 200.
Anyone who cannot afford a taxi to Pattaya should stay home and look for a better job.
That is one point of view. The other is that the fare difference buys you a night with a freelancer. And yes, I could afford to hire a whole bus just for myself or a helicopter. But do I have to?

This doesn't mean overspending or wasting money, but deprieving of the pleasure of a comfortable holiday.
Each one has his own priorities, but as said often, quite a few hundred bucks are spent to go to Thailand for a break (be it holiday or mongering or both). Being concerned for some 20 bucks a day would worry me as anything can happen that I need those 20bucks and I can't spend them.

THEN can we do it the way we choose or do we have to spend our money your way? I could buy the fucking bus if I wanted to. I do not want to. What do you get by taking a taxi? 20 extra minutes in Patts? For 1000 extra baht. Perhaps some people are more attuned to VALUE.
Anyone who cannot afford a taxi to Pattaya should stay home and look for a better job.
I prefer the bus because it is generally more comfortable than a taxi.
