I am trying to figure out the best option as far a lodging goes in Malate.
The Stargate Pensionne looks to be leading the pack right now.
Executive room is 1, 300p a night.

I am just wondering if this place is GF. Says extra person costs 380p per day.
I am not going to be paying almost 400p to bring a girl over every night.
Do they enforce this rule?
From the corner of Pedro Gil / Adriatico, turn left on Adriatico. Walking about 4 blocks, pass many hotels, KTV's, and restaurants. Get to Bedrock bar (good food, drinks, live band nightly. Sometimes 2 per night, alternating) , but prices are a little higher here.
Also on Adriatico, on right side, one or two blocks before Bedrock, is Erra's Bar & Grill, who makes excellent and not expensive Filipino food and snacks. Try their chicken sisig. San Miguel Pilsen is 36 PHP.
Erra's and the neighbour bar, whose name I can't recall, are very often frequented by filipinas looking for company. Also ladyboys with the same agenda, by the way.
It's one of my all time favourite hang outs in Manila. Highly recommended.
I am starting to do my micro planning and strategies for my upcoming Philippines trip. I was there in Feb for 4 days (Manila) You can check my trip report if you haven't read it all ready, bonus video included. Its either under this name or my old handle (Tar Heel Bred) for which I forgot my password and email.
Anyways. The plan is as follows.
Manila. 2 weeks.
Cebu. 3 weeks.
Dumaguete. 2 weeks.
Last time I stayed in Greenbelt (Greenbelt One Hotel). It's a nice area and location for gaming chicks. However I like the vibe of Malate better so I am going to stay there this time.
I need to find the cheapest cleanest place in walking distance of Robinsons Mall. I am amazed at the lack of cheap options in Manila compared to a city like Cebu or Davao...
To Calipro,
It is possible to have a budget of 50 USD a day in Manila but if you stay in the cheap motel and eat cheap fast food nothing left for p4p and drinking, what is the point of even coming to Pi to have a tight budget like this you should just cut the trip short to only one month so you can enjoy PI and have more fun, I am not sure when is the last time you are in Manila or at all everthing in Manila has gone up alot the last 5 yr, I have a hard time even at 100 USD budget a day not including airline ticket and land tranport.

On the website link you gave it says, very clearly, that the price is good for TWO.
If you want to bring in a 3rd, pay your 380 php.

Greetings from Robinson's Place! Longtime contributor here, though the mongering abilities ain't what they used to be. Fewer sessions = less need to go as far afield In Search Of as before, but I'll just throw out observations from the current trip and maybe someone finds something of value.
Took several trips to find something at MBC that I wanted to take out. Saw someone I had taken out some seven years ago (always a bit awkward). Had gotten a faulty BBBJ in Thailand that produced a cut (or something feeling too much like it) , so no boom-boom or anything that night. Took her P1000 LT just for company (didn't negotiate ahead, just paid that amount. She was OK with it but puzzled as to why no boom-boom). Unusually good personality even after all this time.
Anyway, to sing with the choir, lots of hardened-looking types at MBC. So much of the observation game is either: a) seeing if someone from a previous trip is there (could be good OR bad thing, often bad) and b) trying to separate the frequent, hardened ones from the few that *might* not fall in that category. Some days you wind up with zero or maybe one that flunks the interview, but that's the price of being picky. If picky enough it IS very possible to go home alone.
Found an infrequent one on night #2; average looks. 30, one kid, but owns a small business and seemed much smarter and sharper than the average girl. Said it was her eighth time there since starting to go 2 years ago (I asked her at what point she'd lose count, but she didn't understand). She was kinda giggly and fluttery-eyed like someone much younger and made for a good GFE. Was going to go to Cafe Havana later on that night but took her. She'd never been. That scene is still going strong. Lots of girls very dolled up, often running in packs. Mojitos and caipirinhas P195 and the live band a big draw. Maybe I have more Spanish in me than I realized. Girl seemed overwhelmed, but was game for going along with what the guy wants.
Anyway, she stayed until midday the next day & I paid P2500. One of those where you might have to apply the three-day rule ('cept I was on the next-to-last day of the trip anyway).

Tried 3 of the small places on Mabini near U. N. Ave. (Red Garter was only name I remembered). Am trying to explore alternatives to MBC just for diversity's sake. Not my scene, though. It suffers from some of the same structural weaknesses from the business model that beer bars in Pattaya do. You go in, you're an immediate center of attention, and you see a bunch of girls on the couch. You're pressured to choose someone, and if you don't right away it's made to be very awkward ("Don't be shy!" "Are you OK?") Or, worse, the mamasan tries sending one over that's invariably not one you'd pick. After maybe 15 seconds of chat someone asks if you want to buy the girl a drink, etc. There's also music in the background (lone musician and mostly machine-generated backing) , so you got to talk over that.
Which is all great for extroverts with a gift of gab and voices that carry. But aren't those the same people who would have the easiest time with bars or social gatherings in their home country and were likely to be married in their 20s? It would seem that people falling outside that type / skill set would be at least overrepresented among mongerers, so replicating a model that didn't work for many is like inviting Stevie Wonder on "Wheel of Fortune."
I s'pose, as with Pattaya beer bars, you can hone the skills to where you look (quickly) for a specific target and don't sit down unless you have one (I. E. Look at what's on offer and leave if necessary) and then accept that some would flunk the interview afterward, but that's quite a bit of work when hopping between groups of 8-15 at a time. The alternative, as in EDSA, would be to sit back and look at 70-80 and then pounce if something looks interesting. I guess I'm more of a large-quantities-and-pounce type.

On Quiapo, I usually go there to buy stuff cheaply maybe once a trip. Lots of eyeglasses, DVDs and other common items at the lowest prices in the city, and sometimes you see interesting older items like Led Zeppelin records at the "anything of value" places. It's really a tough slog, though, with the crowds, smog, heat, humidity and general drab, grotty kind of atmosphere. I had written about the KTV / strip clubs there some years ago. To follow up on what Asian Rain had written, indeed you might see a few girls offering themselves at P500 ST, most likely on the left side of Rizal Ave if looking north from Carriedo LRT station, between that station and C. M. Recto Ave. Some appeared a bit shy about obvious foreigners or those outside the normal customer base. I saw one where the age might have been questionable (lots of makeup, too). Didn't partake, but there's no shortage of ST hotels nearby. Very hit-or-miss, maybe midday weekdays has the most selection.
This time around I'm staying at the Executive Plaza on their buy 3-get-1-free deal, which nets out to P1, 700 or so a night. Rooms, TV selection, location, etc, have been hard to beat, even though hotels simply aren't as good a deal in Manila as in, say, Bangkok (where my usual hotel is $24 / night). Exec. Plaza can be Byzantine when it comes to processes like signing in joiners (they pull the I'd) or checking out. They need to look at best preactices of other places and streamline. But the basic product is sound.
Back when I had more time and less money I'd often go to the Soriente on Bocobo St, which was P799 (back at P50+ for the $. Those were the days) , but now it's 1400-ish. Stayed at the Manila Tourist Inn once at P550 for one night and it was kinda scary (bugs). Rothman was OK but not much price difference with Executive Plaza. Haven't stayed at the newer crop (Hostel 1632, Grand Prix, Tune) , but I think the business model there relies heavily on small rooms. Obviously you want a favorable visitation policy. I don't think anyone has truly nailed the trifecta of price, room quality and visitation, so best advice is not to pay any entire bookings upfront on the Internet if you haven't seen the place or been there already.
Dumaguete is refreshingly less crowded than Manila, but 2 weeks there might be a bit much unless visiting some GF or determined to explore the whole island. I started to get bored after 2 days when I went. Cebu is a good combination of things you find in the city (movies, discos, malls, restaurants, etc.) without being as gigantic or crowded. OTOH, it lacks an MBC-type place and the P4P is generally under more heat, which doesn't stop it but pushes it underground.
As for Malate vs. Makati, I always go with Malate for the girl volume. For all the grousing there's at least some probabilities between MBC, smaller bars, or even just meeting someone outside those, such as in Robinson's Place. Makati has more restaurants and much less poverty on display, but Burgos long ago jumped the shark on pricing and the only hunting I'd do over there is the weekends at Greenbelt 3 (a fragile arrangement, BTW). Getting in/out of Makati at certain times can also be a real nightmare.
I really hate staying in hotels when I travel. You have to deal with their rules and their staff. Your room is small and that's it. No kitchen, no fridge, just a room.
I really recommend you try to use www.airbnb.com Or roomarama. If your cheap you can get a cheap apartment with more than one room, a kitchen, fridge, bathroom. If you spend average money you can get a great apartment, studio. 1 to 3 bedrooms, full kitchen, full living room with cable and internet. It is like having your own apartment.
I always stay this way and love it. I think it is so much better then a hotel.
On airbnb you can use the map feature and pick the area you want to stay and the neighborhood. You don't usually need to worry about being girl friendly because it is a apartment, not a hotel. I just always check the rules to see if it is a issue. Every now and then someone will post you have to pay extra for a additional guest (but that is very seldom).
Staying 3 months in a hotel is crazy. I would go nuts.
Also, negotiate. I never pay sticker price! Especially if you are a long term renter.
I am getting carried away on DIA lately. I now have 17girls who all gave my their phone number and FB. They want to meet me when I am there next week. They are all under 28 and really hot.
I only talk to the ones I think are at least a 8 plus. It kind of amazes me how easy it is to get all their contact info and have them want to meet me.
If you are not into the bar scene DIA is a great hunting ground and is free. I also find it is a lot cheaper than the bars and the bar fine.
DIA.
Profile: I never post crap like I am serious or I am looking for love in my profile. I post I am coming to manila and can't wait to enjoy my time there. I love to have fun and go out and do things and so on. I put my picture and stats like you are supposed to.
Then I go through and search the girls in my area. Typically I search between 18 and 28 year olds. I pick only the hottest girls I can find and send then a short message to start. Hello, bla bla bla.
If they respond I start to a small conversation. Then I go into oh I see you are in Manila which part? Then I come back and say I will be in wherever in a few weeks is that close to you. 90% of the time I get wow you will be here, we should meet. That then leads to phone numbers and fb info. I always get fb because I want to see a lot of pictures of them. Then I can tell how hot they are and if it is worth it. The little picture on DIA sucks and gives you no real information. But on fb you see a lot and learn a lot.
I connect to them on my fb- which has a fake name and profile (I never use my real info and real name, ever). But I do use my real pictures and such. I am looking to bang it out, not be in love!
Easy as 123 to get a ton of dates on DIA- they almost always lead to free sex (minus dinner and some drinks or a movie or whatever).
Some of the girls are super hot and have such serious profiles. I want marriage and serious relationship only and all that bs. After a bunch of messages they are saying I want to spend the night with you and I charge 2, 000! Fucking easy as pie. I really think 90% of the girls on there are ready to give up the ass free or for a fee. Probably a lot of them are bar girls figuring the can give it up and keep the money themselves instead of giving it to mama.
Issues:
Forget the ugly ones. Don't respond back to them it is a waste of time. Don't be mean but just don't respond. You are there for you not for them. Only talk to the ones you want to bang.
Never let them bring their friend or family along. Unless the friend is going to fuck and have a 3 way. (I had two through DIA last time. 1,500 per girl)
They get jealous so easy! I don't even know them and they are already jealous and asking about other DIA girls and such.
Some of them really want to be attached to you. You have handle with care. Be a smooth liar! I always use work (which is true anyways, but never give real info-company name and anything. Keep it believable BS) , I am there for work and that is my priority, I work all the time, I visit different areas of the Philippines, I have to go out at night with clients. That kind of stuff to get the hanger on's off your back.
Well that's what I do at least. You may like it you may not. But its worth a try.
Had several lined up form FC but the net prevented me from accessing.
Every time I go East my various YM account get locked? Has any other North American mongers experienced this and if so is there a cure? It was frustrating as my trapline that I had spent fucking weeks setting up was in accessible.
Had it happen to me a couple times; both there and recently here in the USA too. I kept getting a message about not being able to access my account at this time, please try again later (or something like that). Quite by accident I found that if I cleaned out my cache / temp IT files then I could log on. I use "CCleaner" for this task; free program works fine (under "download from:" click on your preferred web site for downloading the program; Note: during the install it wants to install Google task bar, so if you don't want it then uncheck the respective box) :

Back on 12/27/12 in the Chat Rooms & Pen Pals thread I wrote about using MS OneNote to keep track of and to organize your web contacts; sounds like it would've come in handy for you and maybe it still will.

With OneNote you can view all of your info offline, so no worries about having bad connections, no connections or, like in your case, issues with a locked account. The program is very simple and intuitive to use, but there's also tutorials available on You Tube.
Once I've saved a girls' DIA, FC, etc page then I simply copy and paste any relevant conversations or contact data over from a YM chat session; quicker then trying to merge pages together by doing it that way.
You can also delete a lot of the BS that also gets loaded (I. E, a DIA page also shows all of the thumbnail pics) , but be careful with the delete key. As long as you don't leave the page you can "undo" any mistakes, but once you've left the data is lost.
Can't change the past, but hope this helps in the future; and thanks for the FR!

Anyways just remember that unless you have already met them, maybe 50% will show up.
Remember also Manila is a huge city, where a gal coming from QC to you in Makati might need 3 hours of travel time and might request load a few times from you.
Anyways go have fun and report back.
In December I want to go to Palawan too, and you'll have what such. An Australian told me that in Puerto Princesa's the odd bar girls. I also want to go down to the Davao area, apparently there are beautiful beaches and many activities to do. Me too I like to combine the cultural trip with the girls. The bad thing about the Philippines is that it is too quiet and I can not take many nights without messing around, so I try to make the path to find some nightlife every 4 or 5 days.
