At nrandom940, "your mileage may vary" vs "klappe zu, affe tot"
It sounds like Prague is terrible for this hobby when there are so many better options. Unless you go to ShowPark or something similar. I went there in 2019 and it was good, just kinda pricy.
I think the hobby is difficult everywhere, and has been for a long time now. In Kiev I had a driver / guide, he opened that place up to me. But if you look at the posts by most, you will see much sadness. Without him, that would have been me. Also, look at the difference in my own posts from that place between 2019 and 2021. You can see my journal of lamentation with the increase in difficulty over the passage of time.
Thailand in '12 was shit because although I had access, none of it was quality. Argentina was DOA back in '14. Russia was lame AF in '15. Rio '16 was exquisite because I had a driver / guide. In '18 I had driver / guides in Cali and medellin so my experience was also memorable. And you already know about '19 and '21 because I just mentioned them.
Once the fountain is found, it overflows. Its just getting there and discovering it that's the task. The cellphones can be blamed for destroying the hobby, however I remember the world without them. No translator app, no free mobile texting, we had email and online chatrooms both of which required you at home logged into your pc! We also have to bear in mind that the game itself changes every 5 years. Brazil is largely thought to have the baddest 'tutes on the planet, but now it too has basically become "america v2. 0". This is in every area of life from technology to economics, hell I'm not even the same person I was 5 years ago.
There's a fine line between "your mileage may vary" and "klappe zu, affe tot".
Dwayne's Month in Paradise
Thank you Dwayne for the informative and entertaining report.
I pretty much settled here for the myriad of options available.
I actually do not look at any reviews. Like you said: just roll the dice. Worst that can happen is you walk away. Yes, wasted time. But for those who can spend some time here, its not a big deal.
As to the Ukranian influx, its added more supply to the market. And that is usually a good thing if you do not give in to higher prices.
