I just read a few of japanhotoguys posts and if he isn't bashing someone about not living here he's talking garbage to someone about something else. He's going to Thailand with his wife and hopes to get away for the afternoon. Monger-lite. And a Japanese lover. NO reviews but I only read back one page.

I will say the Sushi and Sabu Sabu are impressive. But anyone that goes here strictly for the mongering would have been better going to one of the NYC houses. I bought a pair of eye glasses, and the whole department was all over me thanking me, but as soon as I turned away the smiles went back to that empty look. They do have nice frames, stuff you won't see anywhere else.

This subject is getting old but I'm not one to just walk away. Might be my heritage or just the fact that I'm a prick or it could be that I call BS when I see it. At the risk of boring everyone to death I'll tell one more story for those that have got this far.

A friend of mine is a partner in a very large and influential law firm. They protect the interest of US corporations worldwide. His bonus for 2012 was 3M. He and his family lived in Tokyo for four years. They have little kids so they do the things that people with kids do. Kids bring adults together. During that four years they never got invited to a Japanese household and made no real friends. And these are social people stateside. Finally his wife said "no more." Shit, I invite people that I don't like for parties at my house if it's appropriate to the group of friends in question. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that one out.

I'll probably never set soil here again other than switching planes. You guys that think this is mongering really should get out more often. I think that most longtime Tokyo mongerers realize there are 3 types of players.

1. Fluent / High Level Japanese Speakers: There are very few establishments that don't want your business and for you, Tokyo is truly paradise on earth. It's not cheap but neither is filet mignon.

2. Limited (or No) Japanese / Positive Attitude: Your choices are limited. Essentially to pink salons, Chinese shops and the few Japanese places (reviewed extensively on these pages) that speak enough English to get the deal done. Not so bad, really.

3. No Japanese / Lousy Attitude / Entitlement Mentality: Everything here is too expensive, everyone is a racist and your failure to launch is everyone's problem but your own.

For the type 3s, I'm sure things are way better where you come from and you can't wait to get back. Please don't let me keep you.

I do perfectly well where I come from but that's not where I'm going. I'm vacationing for a month. I don't travel just for mongering, I like to explore and at a time in my life I can do it more and more. I came here to see Tokyo, fully aware from reading the forum about the pitfalls of getting laid here. It's ok. I enjoyed the culture. Keep in mind that not every girl is free to do so. I do know of some people who managed to use Happy Berry just fine with no Japanese language abilities at all. If in the event Happy Berry tells me their services for Japanese nationals only, I will show them my membership card.

It's not just business policy but the choice of the girl to not do business with foreigners. Money may not always talk but people need to understand Japan is a free market and regardless, businesses and their employees have a choice in who they conduct business with.

But yes, communication is a majority of the reason and also understanding the culture. Another reason is that foreigners may think they may get FS when in fact it is illegal.
