I should have said "there is a limit of $10, 000 unless you declare it." Instead I said "There is a limit". Fair cop. I wasn't specific that it was legal IF DECLARED.

But my point was more about the PP10000 hard limit, which *could* catch us out.

1) The problem with "runners" is that they will start lying right from the start. Its been a LT scam for the last few years now. Ask stay until next day 9-10am and always with a smile say Yes, no problem. After 1 quick round in the hotel room and every excuse that can be thought of will start flying.

2) Always a good idea to keep your wits about you at all times in AC. Always use a trike that provides door to hotel service if get too tippsy.

3) Never had a problem before getting into the terminal with either lighter or matches. Can't bring it on carryon to plane though and only in the checked bag.

5) Carryon Umbrellas were outlawed on all flights for several years now since some clown tried to sneak a disguised knife inside one

Never never! Report currency. (I have never never been asked) I have been visiting the Philippines over the past 25 years and never had a problem with any currency be it pesos or hk dollars, RMB (China) or us dollars.

Others may do it differently but I bring, in most cases, $1000 USD = one hundred dollar notes glued to my chest (joke). I also have american express card and atm card hidden up my butt (kind of a joke). Also good idea to have photo copy of your passport I'd page. Anyway. Put the money passport and atm card in the hotel safety deposit and just carry the cash you need. Even my drivers license is left in the hotel.

Don't wear a watch over $20 bucks. No expensive rings or necklaces.

To save time and money. Find one good hotel in your arriving / departing city. I have done this in malate. So I leave my suitcase in storage and just take a carry on when I head for cebu or where ever = cebu pacific gives airfare discount if only have carry on. Sometimes I plan to go to Thailand / China and not need to carry everything in Philippines.
