Bed, tables, T. V, A / C unit and a hot water shower unit. In Pattaya, the prices from my experience is pretty close to 1500/3000 baht all depending on the area for just a empty room (studio) no hot water and no a / see. The lower the cost the worse it looks, many 1500 baht rooms do not have a sit down toilet. Every baht must be look after so if they are working girls, most likely you will not even see a refrigerator, they have 1 fan, and roll up mats and sleep on the floor, no tables, no sofa, even if they aren't working girls just a small place like this is very common for a Thai family to live in with 4 to 5 people. The less one pays the worse it gets from my experience. Many Thais are just slum lords!

First time poster but I found your posts / info / experiences invaluable during my 1st trip to Pattaya (in July- Been Thailand many times but was the 1st time to Pattaya).

Just seeing if anyone up for hitting up a few beer bars (afternoon) , gogo`s (evening) or night clubs (late night) with me between Nov 7- Nov 21.

Don't matter if you young in body / mind or just young in spirit, as long as you love the ladies and up to cause a little chaos / mischief.

The main risk with live in gfs is that you run the risk of having live in children that you have to raise and send to school, college, etc. As well. Be careful.

I went to the Eastern bus station on Tuesday to get the bus to Pattaya. As soon as I got there I was guided to the ticket office by a tout. I paid my 130 assuming it was for a regular bus, and went to look for it. The tout guided me to a white minibus in the first bay. Seemed a good deal so I got in and waited for it to fill, which did not take too long.

The problem was when we got to Pattaya. We stopped on the main road which goes the length of it, at a filling station. The tout, who had come along, claimed it was the bus station and dumped my case on the road. All the other farangs. About four. Were told to get off.

There was only one pick up waiting, and a few taxi motorcycles. The pickup driver. Large and aggressive like the tout. Demanded 100 each to take everyone to their hotels. That was bad enough, but he wanted it in advance. I was so pissed off I negotiated with a moto for 70. So by risking my life I saved 30 bhat. We made it to the hotel, balancing my case between us, and I paid the driver when we got there. It was quite a way.

Obviously the minibus driver has a deal with the bhat bus to meet in the middle of nowhere. The lesson is to always do the opposite of what touts recommend. But I was wasted after a night in Bangkok, and not thinking clearly.

In general the bus is a good option. It is easy to get to the Eastern station from the SRT. The lesson is to get the regular bus, which is run by a company which can be found on the internet, and goes to their station in north Pattaya.

We have a pool table, some picnic tables, video games, a pay water machine. 2 washers and 1 dryer downstairs at the entrance. There is also a hair salon and a lady who cooks take out / delivery orders. Cable is free as well. A TV came with the place but I gave it back and bought a 32" flat screen Toshiba for 10000 baht at what was then Carrefour. We also have an elevator and closed circuit TV so you can turn to channel 79 or something and see who is at the door downstairs. You have to have a keycard to come into the door and security is there from like 6pm to 6am. The building is 5 floors and the tenants are young Thais (pretty much all female and a couple of gay guys), a couple of guys from America such as myself, a couple of guys from Europe, and a couple of guys from Africa. I think most of the farang who stay in the building have a Thai gf who lives with them.

You said you paid your money in the ticket office. Only 130 baht. Then only 100 for the baht bus to go to a specific location. The private baht bus usually will cost you at least 150. If you go to Big C you will see a board with the prices for private baht buses.

You could probably save almost 60 baht!

It's the second window on the right clearly marked Pattaya. 124 Baht. Nearly as fast of a taxi. Never go with a tout (barker) for a bus, taxi or anything else.

The current price is in fact 124 Baht, you should get a slip with a tear off portion and that slip should tell you the time and give you a seat number! Roony Reuang Coach as far as I know doesn't provide Mini Bus, inside the terminal there are some private booths. There are independent touts as you noted that are on the look out for guys like you coming to the station that stick out. Roong Reuang coach doesn't go hunting for customers!

This is a scam in my opinion! I know this area across from the Bangkok / Pattaya hospital the filling station, The Roong Reuang coach makes stops prior to getting into Pattaya and along Sukhumvit but that is at the request of the passenger and not the driver. The final destination is always a right on Sukhumvit into Pattaya Nua to the station itself.

Live and learn the bus is a good alternative in my opinion.

It was ok, and is how the locals travel. But the cost getting to / from the bus stations and your hotel must also be considered. Plus the waiting time at both stations (with no aircon) can be a PITA.

All things considered I find Bell Travel to be the best mix of price, time, comfort, and convenience. In my experience they run an extremely reliable and professional operation:

Of course, I agree with Frenchy on his excellent assessment: Pattaya is definitely a 'slum'; anyone living or visiting Pattaya is 'slumming it, ' I. E. 'scumming in the slum'; the place is a 'shit hole' because of all the 'lowlives' roaming around everywhere; and Pattaya downtown is just 'Nasty. '

Anyone who has unlimited cash in his wallet is going to see it that way. Anyone who spends 3000 baht for lunch at only the finest restaurants, who eats imported duck livers for snacks, and will never under any circumstances eat Thai street food is going to see it that way.

Anyone who can afford and always insists upon only the very finest in food, wine, liquor, women, clothes, transportation, accommodations, and services is going to compare Pattaya to his familiar rich man's haunts in Bangkok and invariably conclude that Pattaya is a cesspool.

After all, there is no place in Pattaya where the swell, the wealthy man, can enjoy a 3000 baht haircut, a 10000 baht bottle of wine, and the best of everything else; all of that exists only in Bangkok.

Yes, the wealthy swell sees 'anything in the Ban Amphur or Bang Saray area (Fisherman Village) is fine, great beach and nice places' for a weekend vacation, but only a weekend will do because there is no sex to be found in those venues unless one brings his own. And in that regard, the swell can always afford the best. He doesn't have to lower himself to look in even the best of places in Pattaya.

So of course I agree. If a monger has unlimited funds at his disposal; if his wallet is fat with reams of 1000 baht notes; if he insists on having only the very best of all things, he should stick to Bangkok and stay away from Pattaya shit hole, except perhaps on business or on other occasions when he has no other choice. It's obvious.

What shirt, what suit, what shoe, it must nice to be on top in your penthouse in Bangkok. I thought I saw a Nic the other day at the Pattaya Hilton getting out in his Limo, all starch up in his GQ outfit while the bellhop was struggling with all his Polo baggage staying the night just for a morning conference?

Face the fact you will never, ever, get the Thai price for anything. Save the adrenaline for your babe's.
