I've had this happen a good number of times in non-luxury hotels.
If you've ever seen the types of closets some of these girls live in, what we consider a dump is luxury to them.

If only it was this simple; staying in upscale hotel can be a plus and impress some of the girls but others may see it as their opportunity to gorge themselves off their opulent catch. The idea being if you can afford a place like the Marriott you can afford to pay them more. Chances are they’ve stay at places like the Marriott before and impress as they may be or pretend to be, they are way more impress with the baht.

I know it's great to stay in a terrific room, impress the chicks to no end, and have them all beg to stay over. But really, it ain't the hotel.

Not laminated. Actually I thought it was both funny and in an odd was convenient (for my lazy self) that it was just written down for me.
Patpong is probably still the same as it was a couple or few years ago - some definite talent hiding with a lot of fugglies. Probably need to go fairly early to find the talent as I can't imagine how some of those girls ever get BF'd and so likely the good ones are gone by later (or if lucky already done a ST and are back.)
No idea about the drink prices. I never pay attention to that. It's a few pennies in the overall scheme of things (though in sum I probably spend more on drinks actually, which granted is a bit stupid but I enjoy it.)
Question/advice - what a good way to "ignore the mama's" and all the myriad of other girls (and sometimes even guy waiters) asking for/demanding drinks non-stop? The more specific you can be the better. I always feel like I have to buy a certain amount of drinks before I BF just to keep the company of the girl, lest she be put back on stage. How can one say no repeatedly but keep the girl (or girls) sitting with him?

Late night at Twilo Club you can sometimes find pretty ones after they get off work and are still hunting for customers.

But it will be hard to keep your chosen girl's interest if you say "no" while considering your interest and discussing barfine options. They have drink quotas and are honestly thirsty. A drink for the "-san" that you asked to get the girl for you does not hurt for future forays into the bar.
For the pesky ones, maybe bring an empty wallet with just enough for a drink or two, and show it and say, [i]"mai me satang...or satang nit noi..."[/i] The pesky ones can be a real pain in the arse, though, when they don't give up. It can spoil the fun for me and often I just leave.

Very true, but if one has the possibility of treating himrself well is also nice.
Something is screwing a girl in a low average room and something is screwing her in a very comfortable place where both can enjoy the environment.
I agree also that if they see the luxurious hotel the can try to milk more money from you.
One can always say to her that the hotel is paid by his company but she is paid by his own pocket, if it was for him he could not afford such a luxurious hotel :) "..so let's enjoy it, darling!"

although you are right since the rupee is not convertible, you can exchange rupees in bkk and for that matter in hkg. you get it changed from indian traders. however, the exchange rate is not that good.
and please don't ask me where as it was a year or so ago and did not take his phone/contact info. i don't normally do this, but had some extra cash when i left india.
having said that, it is best to bring usd when you travel outside india.
