almost all countries have some form of currency regulations. many like the usa allow you to take as much as you want but if it is more than $10k (in usa) then you have to declare. these countries just want to keep tabs on money going in and out of the country. the penalty is very severe, not just the confirep001ion of the money. there may be a big fine and even prison time. in any event, in the age of computers, you will be blacklisted for ever, so every time you enter or leave the country, you will be searched. a friend of mine has this problem with canada. by the way, travelers checks are currency.

so, bottom line, it's not worth it. use atms. that's what they are for.

Tigtigan Terakan Keng Dalan (Music and Dancing in the Streets) which started in 1992, is an annual all-night party along MacArthur Highway, Balibago, held on the last Friday & Saturday of October. Restaurants & bars set-up tables & chairs along the streets, and serves over-flowing food and drinks. It features non-stop music from amateur and national bands and is attended by celebrities, out-of-towners and locals alike. This event is used to celebrate the Oktoberfest. so, bottom line, it's not worth it. use atms. that's what they are for.[/quote]or simply declare the currency on the custom's declaration form. there is nothing wrong with bringing in $10, 000 into the usa as long as you declare it. and it would be a good idea to have a valid reason for carrying such a large amount of cash to provide to the custom's officer if he asks.

it used to be the case that countries wanted to keep tabs on currency movements across borders. with electronic transfers this is no longer the issue. instead, they want to know about money laundering and repatriation of drug money or profits from criminal activities.

but funman is right about the penalties. there are some famous filipinos who hid cash in their luggage when going to the states and now find that they are out on bail in the states awaiting trial (and the authorities are holding onto their passports)

Having said that BE VERY CAREFUL if you are approaching girls as many will be there with friends / boyfriends. Some drunk locals too that may misunderstand your intentions. You may be better off going with locals if you know some or a girl in tow.

Plan to bring a date to enjoy the event and absorb the ambience of the Celebration instead of being Distracted by hunting activities. LOL

I am planning my first trip to Angeles City. I want to see if anyone is interested in meeting and showing me the ropes. I am going on the following dates December 23 to 29. I have found some cheap flights and plan to book this week. I have a couple of rookie questions.

1. What hotel would you recommend I would like to stay at either the ABC, Pacific Breeze or Lewis Grand?

2, How much cash should I take for a weeks worth of mongering and food?

3. I am planning on flying into Manilla Should I take either a bus or a taxi to Angeles City? How long does it take to get there from Manila?

4. Is there a pool party at any hotels thst week?

1, hard to find cheap ticket on them dates so you are lucky with that. Women about 2K peso each, so ask yourslef your taste and desirer. Also eating is your style. There are many jap type eaterys but are a little more expensive.

I have not stayed at any of the hotels you asked about. I did stay at Doll house accross the street from Dollhouse bar. But I would say Pacific breeze would be a good choice. You can ta2ke taxi from airport. Or for about 500 peso go to Swagman and take the buss. Trip is 1. 5 hours to 3 hours depending on traffic.

If you like Ocean, think about going to subic for a day. 1 hour drive from A / C, on ocean, good beaches. Many bars in Barrio. So you can find onsite or. If you take swagman buss you will beable to ask many forigners on buss lots of questions.

With dates you have many girls will be going home for Christmas. So you will meet more local girls looking for money for kids at Christmas. Do not if good or bad, yet I am sure you will have fun. You might want to go to perimater road hotel for 3 days and see differnece in area. This is 3 Km down road so you could walk to area in 1/2 hour and see whole strip. Many think there is different flavor from one end of street to other. RP is a very catholic country and there will be many things about Christmas going on. There is a big mall called SM in city. I would go there for tooth paste, razor, cell phone with sim card, and get personal stuff there. But take your own condoms if you like them. You will enjoy. Wonder the city during the day. Go to San Fernando and look at it. 15 min away. Give you a tates of non sin city. Hope you enjoy trip. I would use google map. And get feel for area. So you can get out and have feel for your area. Surfer[/QUOTE]It all depends on how much money you want to spend and how comfortable you want to be. I actually enjoy staying at ABC although their prices are high compared to the field. If you stay at ABC, you can also arrange a pickup from the airport that'll take you to AC in about 2 hours depending on traffic.

I also enjoy staying at different hotels on my trip along with a few nights in Manilla.

Also, food is rather cheap in the Philippines unless you plan on eating at higher end restaurants or at the hotels. Cash wise, bring as much as you want! The more you have, the better! I like to grab multiple girls through out the day, buy a lot of drinks, etc. Everyone is different, so it depends on you. It's too hard for me to tell you to budget your money when I don't even know what you want and how many times, etc. Just bring a lot, let loose and enjoy your vacation!

You've already recd some good info. If time is important, you could take a taxi direct from the airport. I usually take one of the foreigner friendly shuttle services: Swagman or Southern Cross. In walking distance of Fields walking street bars and restaurants. ABC is the most expensive hotel in AC, classy, with a bordello theme. Its about 8 to 10 blocks from the action. Lewis Grand is a nice hotel priced between the two. Is the furthest away. A nice walk during the day. Wouldn't recommend it at night.

#2. Depending on how much of a drinker you are. $100 to $150 a day to be on the safe side and have to worry about a budget.

#3. For a 1st timer. I would have a driver pick me up. Every hotel has has a service. If you don't want to use the hotel service. Look up Margarita Station. And they offer a driver service. It will be $60 each way. And about a 1 1/2 to 2 hrs to AC from Manila.

Sure there are cheaper ways. Bus services. But you have to take a taxi to the shuttle or bus. Then a trike from the bus station to the hotel.

After flying 12 hrs. And going thru immigration. You will be happy to be able just flop into a car and have the driver take over. Its worth the money for a 1st timer.

#4. The girls are supplied by the bars. So the bars advertise the parties as well. So it would be hard to miss that one is going on.

1. Also consider Wild Orchid. Great pool and bar arrangement and close to all of the clubs.

2. Figure about $200 per day if you take 2 girls a day. $50 for a hotel. $50 per girl. And $100 for food and drinks.

3. Answered in earlier texts. I took Swagman and it worked great. They run a good operation.

4. Not sure about pool parties. Both ABC and Wild Orchid have great pools. Though it is cheaper at Wild Orchid and closer to the action.
