Three meals may cost $40 if you eat all three at a restaurant. I eat one meal at one of those sucos spots (steak sandwich, rice and drink) which is about $R14 at the most. Then eat a few more meals during the rest of the day. I don't think I speand $40 on food maybe $R50. This trip in Oct I'm going to keep track of what I spend on food and everything else.

Taking public transpotation you won't spend $10 a day, $R10 maybe.

You are not spending $250 for one hour session. I did two 40 min session at 4X4 and had 4 or 5 drinks and my bill came to $R550, which was $225.

What I see going in Rio is that you have more girls being banked by Brazilians. Used to be girls would wait for their gringo white knight to take them away. Well now those gringos are not coming and Brazilians making more money are filling the void.

I've been studying for about 3 1/2 years. Much like with speaking spanish in various countries, I did my best to match the carioca accent. Obviously, after a few minutes of back and forth conversation, I would say something that would give myself away, but the response I usually got was I nordestino or was I from Colombian, Cuban, etc. I guess it's because I still have a strong spanish influence when I speak portuguese.
