So far reports are NO.
Hi,
Do they check passport by riding Mexico to centro T. J?
My buddy crossed the border today and was issued the free 7 day visa. He said they told him that he could pay for the 180 day visa and it would be good for multiple entries during the 180 day period. Can you verify that this is the case?
For the weekend warriors like my self and others why fill out paperwork every weekend when you only have to fill it out once every six months?
I was issued a 7 day permit on Thursday. I went into Mexico this morning, and the agent saw my passport, and I showed her the permit I got on Thursday, and she said go through the Mexican entry because the permit still good for 4 more days. So hold onto the permit, and no filling out paperwork if you have a valid permit. If you get a 6 month visa there will not be any waiting you just go through the Mexican entry, if you show the agent the passport, and visa-permit. Also they have set up a baggage scanner with everyone who has a bag or luggage must put them through now.
Just purchased the 180 FMM today. It will allow me to go back and forth for 6 months. However I still need to bring my passport.
Next time I come into mexico I show my FMM and go through the mexican line.
At least this buys me 6 months to see how this plays out.
The funny thing is the oficial told me just to put Tijuana in the address slot. No specific address was asked.
They might get rid of this at some point but take full advantage while you can.
Thanks Surfer!

Thanks Surfer!
When I apply for the permit I think I'll just put Adelitas in the address slot even though I don't patronize the place.
Sorry I don't understand your question.
Hi,
I am sorry. I should write a better question.
Here is the question. Should they check passport if I take a ride on Mexico coach bus from San Ysidro to Tijuana? I think it is faster than crossing by foot.

I would assume they need to comply with everyone else or they might ask you for your passport before you even get on the bus.
Better to research a little more. I don't use them so I don't have first hand information.
Good Question. If you find out please let us know the answer.
The red Mexicoach buses always stop at Mexican Immigration and Custom lane. 1 or 2 agents would board the bus and check everyone out. So the probability is high that they will ask riders for passports.
If you go beyond Tijuana, be aware that there are a few check points manned by Mexico's Marinas along the Baja California highway 1. One is at the midpoint between Tijuana and Ensenada; another further South, about San Quintin or El Rosario, somewhere near the border of Baja Norte / Sud.
A few years back I took the very long ride on bus from Tijuana to La Paz. It was a very boring 24-hour ride on a very narrow 2 lane highway down the desert, with no scenery and nothing to do besides a few little fishing villages with rundown bars and block houses. The drivers took turn driving and slept in the baggage compartment at the bottom of the bus. At a check point near a little village, the Marinas stopped and boarded the bus, looking at each rider's face. I did not have the Mexico's travel document, but was unmolested. The Marinas pulled off the bus an unkempt Gringo with long, matted hair and dirty clothes, a classic example of fugitives on the run. I hope he survived the night with the horny Marinas. Hehe.
You can book flight from LAX, San Diego or Tijuana to La Paz or Cabo San Lucas cheaper than the bus. So fuck the rickety bus.
Today I took the shuttle from the parking lot to Rev. $5. When we crossed the bus driver dropped us of at a Mexican government building on the border. Brand new building. Said he would pick us up on the other. Everyone had to fill out a form. The ladies then stamped our passports. We all boarded the shuttle and off to Tijuana we went. Very easy.

I did not get a stamp on my passport, they just issued a 7 day permit on an official document. I just showed my passport and the chica handwrote the permit, and time stamped the permit with the date.
Hey guys,
Expecting to make a trip out to Tijuana this Wed or Thursday for a night or two. Been there once earlier this year for only a few hours and had a blast and met a guy from a place called Zorro who showed me around for a short bit. I just looked up the exchange rate at XE.com and noticed the rate of 17 to 1! Wow! Hope prices haven't gone up in Tijuana yet. Where would I find the most convenient place on either side of the border where I could get the best exchange for my buck? My phone didn't work out there last time so any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, not too much experience out in Tijuana and was wondering if anyone wanted to go as a wingman? Looking forward to a great time and will definitely share my experience.
Stamping the passport is a major problem for me. It is going to be very hard to explain to my other half why I have a Mexican stamp on my passport let alone multiple ones. I'm going to have to go through the otay border.
