I have stayed in Hotel Kipepeo in River Road in CBD. Nice hotel, clean, safe and descent brkfast.

$52 is a standard room and $70 is for a slightly larger room.

Difference? Standard rooms are street facing and are loud. There is no aircon in this facility so you need to keep the windows open. Street facing rooms are too loud. So, other times I ask for a more spacious room facing the alley in the back. Those are the $70 / night rooms.

Hotel is GF. Just inform the desk clerk that you intend to bring over someone. If they don't pass the night you will not be charged double occupancy. Or slip the doorman some bobs and they will look the other way when you head upstairs.

Good hotel, but being in the middle of CBD there's lots of traffic.

If you want to stay in Westlands, also consider the Progressive Park Hotel. It's located next to WestLake Mall (across from Ukay Centre, on Mwanzi Road).

It's actually an old appt complex where you can rent a one bedroom (furnished) flat for $100 / night. 2 bedrooms go for $220 / night. Free wifi, gym and B&B. It's very clean and safe. Also GF (I guess?) since I never stop by the lobby when going up to my flat, I just bring girls up there with no problems.

I look at cost in this way, much like when you are buying a car there is a range of prices across models. I wouldn't pay Mercedes prices for a Ford. Nor would I expect to get a Mercedes at a the price of a Ford.

So is paying 5K shillings worth it? Well it depends, are you buying the Mercedes or the Ford?
