Don't be naive Jalan Kartini is a long st only a few alley have pimp and girl, the last time I went to Taman sari 75 is was closed and that is 8 yr ago it is a boarding house offer girl around the corner from hotel travel totally different area just ask a taxi driver to take you to the actions don't walk up and down Jalan Kartini in the heat on your own totally waste of time.

You must be very brave or have a death wish walking down Jalan Kartini at night, this is a bad area of town where low life and drug pusher hang out there are no paved sidewalk with many motorbike that don't slow down for no one, it is better just go to hotel travel or classic not worth the it for some cheap actions.

I'm always interested in new places for free lancers. When is the earliest time that I might find action at Lokasari Plaza or Tamansari? Would much be happening in the mid-afternoon? Or is this only an after dark place?

And, Tamansari is an area, is there a specific street or place to go? Or just get a taxi at, say, Lokasari and say "Cari Cewek" and let him handle the rest?

In my opinion, a free lancer is a girl you meet in a bar and chat her up. If you hit it off, you go home together and she keeps all the money she makes. There is no pimp involved. That is absolutely not what tamansari is. You can get in almost any non-bluebird line taxi (bluebird company drivers are usually the most naive and don't know crap about anything) and tell them you want to charry chayway at tamansari. Once the taxi has the idea of what you are looking for, the taxi will know various seedy pimp controlled vans and small pimp controlled rooms near that area with some girls they can show you. It's just some girls sitting around waiting to be picked. You won't be sitting with them and chatting them up, you merely look and tell the pimp or mamasan which one you want. Don't expect to find more than a 6 or 7 out of 10 at best. These will not likely be stunners. As far as earliest time to go, I would guess around 11pm. Although that may be a bit early.

On another note, I went to CJs Wednesday night and the talent level was off the hook. Absolutely awesome selection. I can't say that I've seen a better crop of girls in one bar at any point in my 20 years in Jakarta. But it's a crime how much money these girls want these days. And guys must be paying it because the girls stand firm asking for 2 million. Crazy.

I say this in all seriousness as last time in Indo, I didn't spend much time in Jakarta but I did get to a lot of the Oil & Gas and Mining towns. Literally not an expat to be seen so I'm interested in who is feeding this market. Surely not local KITAS holders as they are very thin on the ground.

.[/QUOTE]If you go to the open restaurants near Princen Park Hotel in Lokasari (where both Bung Karno and John Wayne were famously photographed mongering for FiFi Young lookalikes) early afternoons you should find freelance girls. There is the odd fat Ambonese Mama who may wish to help. I've picked up from there on half a dozen occasions. Sometimes the girls want cash or a down payment to go to the Mama but it is essentially because they don't trust you as a foreigner and are scared of getting scammed rather than being pimped off IMHO.

I seem to recall the openair McDonalds has closed down, but there are other similar cafe's nearby to choose from.

I'm not to sure about approaching taxi drivers or security guards will get results but if you do it would be better being clearer and asking for "Prelans" rather than the generic "Cewek" which will inevitably just lead you to a mundane brothel or massage. When I'm wandering around Lokasari and get stopped and asked where I'm going I usually say Tangkiwood / Gang Tangki as that's where the local starlets are rumored to hangout.

And yes, I did a lot of googling today, so I wouldn't be asking you guys dumb questions that could be answered elsewhere. What I found out was exciting and suddenly I realized what you guys were on to (and others apparently are not). So, I am going to put forward some assumptions here about Indonesia based on my evening of net surfing and please chime in. I'm sure others will benefit as well as myself (see, I am not being totally selfish here).

So, here are some things that I can discern about Indonesia:

1) The girls are just as pretty, if not prettier than, any other place in Asia.

2) The girls are notably friendly, easy going, and quite approachable by Western males.

3) Bules are not so common in Indonesia, so my light skin carries with it a bit of appeal to some Indonesian ladies (something the "farang" in Thailand can no longer claim).

4) Indonesia doesn't have distinct seasonal weather patterns, so no time of year is particularly advantageous to visit from a weather perspective. Its seems that the infidel needs to plan his visits around the Muslim holidays, instead.

5) Jakarta is very cheap for a capital city, with cheap hotels, cheap beer, and relatively cheap girls.

6) Jakarta is host to a bevy of budget, regional air carriers that can get you to mongering destinations in Asia, quite easily and economically.

7) If you want to get out of Jakarta, there is a plethora of other attractions and activities to be had elsewhere, just on Java alone.

Your thoughts, please. Is there something else I am missing?
