Trying to decide between getting an apartment in Malate or Makati for 3 weeks.

Will spend most my time in Malate. However the apartment in Makati is much nicer. I am trying to keep costs down on traveling though.

Is there a jeepney that goes from Makati to Malate? When do they stop running at night?

How much is a taxi to Malate from Makati? Like 350p?

Pics of the seafood market at night and the Chinese / Phil restaurants that will cook the fish for a fee.

Or if more girls are pulled in Malate. 14 days Malate and 7 days Makati. Also, skip the traveling altogether if you can. If you're staying in Makati, just concentrate on the clubs there, and ignore Malate (assuming you are splitting time between the two cities) , and vice versa when in Malate.

A year ago an older lady was providing girls in Malate. She seemed to have quite a fresh, quick supply. One of the girls turned out to be from Makati, and she came to me in Malate numerous times. She said it was 2 jeeps for her, p8 + p8, to get to Robinson's Malate. Also keep in mind that jeeps can take 2x (or more) the length of time as a taxi (gents, is that remotely close?). In fact, I had three girls recently making trips from Makati to me in Malate in the afternoons. None of the girls could make the trip in under 2 hours, and closer to 3 hours was the norm in the daytime. Going the reverse direction was the same amount of time for them when they left, if they left around 5pm.

Keep in mind that if you shower and leave from Malate to hit a nice club in Makati, on the jeep, you may need another shower when you get to Makati (for numerous reasons, I don't recommend using jeeps to move about town).

Some taxi drivers will refuse the ride altogether, or simply ask a larger amount up front, say 350 and no meter. Some people will think this is a ripoff, as its above the normal metered price of 250-300. However, its not a ripoff: the driver knows he will probably not get a fare going back to his original location, and will have to charge more for gas. Another alternative is to ask for meter and agree to pay a specified amount above it,"Meter plus 70."

At night about 9-10pm, when traffic eases, its a faster trip, as little as 25 minutes, and p180. After 11pm 20 minutes, p130-150 in taxi. Gents do I have that remotely close?

Clubs in Makati are too expensive. Only reason why I'm considering Makati is due to the apartment being really nice for around the same price as the apartment in Malate.

First one to Buiendia, then the next to Pedro Gil. I need to ask them to make that route around 9pm and tell me how long it takes. If it is 2 hours then I guess I will just stick to the apartment in Malate.

If you enter one with few passengers often it won't depart for quite a while and when it does it'll creep along the kerb looking for more. But during rush hour it is quite difficult to find a taxi, more so when it's raining. Of course the queues for jeeps during rush hour can be very long. I ride jeeps during the daytime and early evening, but after 9pm or so I avoid due to safety. The buses take about the same time, and the aircon ones are much more comfortable.

2) You're close. Going to Malate (Remedios and Adriatico) from Makati (Buendia and Pasong Tamo) after 11 pm (I rarely go earlier) is 15-20 minutes and p100-p120. Avoid Osmena Highway (SLEX) as it's often crowded with trucks; Roxas is the better route.

It isn't mentioned often here but the best way to cut daytime commute times is to use the LRT and MRT, especially from QC to / from Makati or Malate / Ermita. Knowing which station you're near and the appropriate jeep for her to ride from the station you can ably advise your girl.

The shopping malls and entertainment options are an enticing lure; many girls journey here of their own accord to eye shop and socialize, so it's a short hop to your place. And since there are so many call centres here it's easy for them to visit you before or after work; quite nice to have a girl come over at 7am after she's pulled her shift. You don't need to be too clever to arrange a morning visitor, an afternoon one, and an evening guest. If you're keen to visit Malate bars traveling there after 10 pm is quick and cheap enough.

The Bay Walk, MBC, Robinsons, Insomnia, Zzyzx, De LaSalle Uni, Mall of Asia, Cowboy Grill, Bellagio Square. Stones throw from Pasay and Republic.

Only downside is its more of a hassle for girls to commute and meet me, but I'm sure they will find a way.

They sent employees out to go from points A to B on three different routes, with some pairs going by taxi, others by jeepney, and others by LRT / MRT. The LRT / MRT teams were much faster on the three or so routes they tested. That has been my experience as well.

RK and I provided some give-and-take on LRT and MRT in the getting around Manila thread a while back, and these were the caveats:

The trains have gotten much more crowded in recent years so that travel can be unpleasant except for early morning, a short stint during mid-day, after 7:30 or so evenings and on weekends. The first cars on LRT are reserved for women and elderly, but even these get quite crowded.

Getting on can be facilitated by boarding at the first station or two on the line, but getting off often involves squeezing or pushing past people who are packed in like sardines, and people trying to board from the platform often do not make way for people trying to get off. This is coping behavior habituated from individuals' life experiences putting up with the everyday crap all around them in the Phils.

Do not leave valuables in your pockets. I even had an appointment calendar picked from my back pocket-no value to the thieves but inconvenient for me. They are very experienced and work in teams on a regular basis.

The passenger really needs to know the routes and stations or risk getting lost. Many of the locations H cites require changing from MRT to LRT or vice versa near the intersection of EDSA and Taft, and it's an easy place to get lost. Also, as H points out, getting from the station to any physical address requires knowledge of jeepney routes and streets, although a cab from the station to local address is likely to be fairly cheap. Do not assume that locals know the routes or can follow directions. As only an occasional visitor I know the routes better than any Filipinos I know. This says more about them than me.

The passenger will get hot and sweaty so plan a twosome shower as part of the get together.

Only thing they do not know hotel location. So the meeting point is usually mall of asia, Robinson mall or any other landmark. I usually stay at bayview park which is opposit U. S embassy. So sometimes they can come there. Also many girls want to be escorted to the hotel. Remember these are not prostitutes.

Like others have mentioned, unless you plan to make daily trips to MBC or Robinsons, I prefer the atmosphere of the better parts of Manila. I'm a bit partial since I used to live in BGC for five years, watching it grow from a strip to a major development. Non pros have also not been to Greenbelt or Aroura, so they might appreciate the upscale feel too.

I live very close to the skyway and a taxi ride from my Makati condo to / from Resorts World is approx. 15 minutes. Rarely any traffic. One could certainly be stuck in a taxi as it creeps along Mabini, Del Pilar, Adriatico, etc. zig zagging around jeeps driving two abreast, pedicabs, stumbling Koreans, illegally parked cars, and other barriers for a much longer duration.

I am about 3 months out from my 2 month trip in the Philippines.

Manila 3 weeks.

Cebu 3 weeks.

Dumaguete 2 weeks.

Fuck this will be pure epic. Already have some smoking chicks I hooked up with last time waiting for me, plus about 100 new girls I met online for each city waiting on my message when I touch down.

Will be first trip where I stay in one city longer than a week.
