It happened twice that I was guaranteed an entire apartment but offered a private room in a flat share. Well I've clarified that the description stated something else but I was able to communicate in Portugues or better Portenglish. Although some ads are written in perfect English the owners often hardly speak it all.

The other thing bothering me is the random personal stuff (especially when this flat is not only for tourists) when I've GDPs over night. I was stolen once but didn't bother since it was only fragrance and my own. But what if something of the owners belongings is missing?

Did you never experience anything bad? What are the keywords you are looking for? Do you communicate with the landlord before your booking? Thanks for an advice.
