which I avoid like the plague (only place in Valle with any concentration of gringos).

Can anyone recommend hotel to stay at. I would like to spend anywhere from up to 60,000 night. I was going to stay with friends but just found out Im not going to be able to. Hotel interconnetial is way over my budget at 110$US

Last month I stayed in Four Star Sheraton (no internet) but $70/Night- I thought it was OK. You can google and book form their website.

I think Hotel Aristi in the downtown business district of Cali is not a bad choice. It's quiet and inexpensive (I think I paid about $60,000 the last time I stayed there).

Beware, however, that it’s not safe to walk around the streets at night as everything is closed (but then again, where in Cali is safe at night?). Always use taxis after dark.

Fourpoints (Sheraton) is nice BUT their "guest fee" is RIDICULOUS (my friend Kdog stayed there last time). This guest fee trend is getting ugly (DonJaime does it too nowadays, causing them to lose my business).

There is a place right near Versailles park where I stayed the last time (my new regular place was fully booked) that was quite nice and modern, and in a great location. Sadly, I forgot the name but I think it had Versailles in the name.

I do not understand why there must be so much hassle about a place to stay at night. I have been investing now for about 2 weeks over internet (looking for private ads) classificados in colombia, also in Cali. It is a piece of cake to rent an appartment, yes even a full house with a pool outside for less then 1.000.000 Pesos. for a complete month. Take along some dudes or friends and share the place. No bribings with doormen or receptions, no ripoffs with hotels. For me it is clear as water. Invest in some searching, pick up the phone with your best spanish and ask if you can rent the place for a month. Promise them you will take care of the place or ask them to include a maid for the period you will be there. Tell them you will be out before the end of the rental period. So they know they win,made a good deal and even then when they surcharge because you are a tourist, you will still be better off compared to a hotel room.

the sheraton guest fee of 50 mil was nuts for colombia. she only stay for an hour too. also, the paper work involved to get her in was annoying. the high speed internet is hit or miss. they only have a fixed number of modems and they didn't have any available for me during my first night. the breakfast buffet was great (and included in the hotel rate). the room, shower, and ac were all very good.

I have been a guest in Cali for 10 days and here are a few observations.

Im staying at the Hotel Intercontinental, for longstays they have lower rates $57 for a tranditional room. A good option is to join the Ambassador Program, for $150 for the 12 month membership you get an upgrade to a suite for only $77 dollars per night with an office, spa bath and seperate bedroom, fruit and water everyday, cookies, late checkout and discounts on services like laundry and food.

You need to request the longstay rate and ambassador club membership, it isnt offered by staff. By the way, they give you one free night with membership so its effectively free. I read all the posts about appartments and I am sure its more economical, but make no mistake Cali is a city where security is worth a premium, people who speak english, tourist police, video security, 24 hour services...for me for 50 to 80 dollars is worth it. they dont charge for companions but may at their discretion ask them to register for your protection....but most Colombian girls arent keen on that process.

For whoring, I tried 2 el cheapo places...Pharoh and Fantacias International (both with numbers in this thread and at the recommendation of senior members. At Pharoh I tried Alejandra, 23 with a pretty tight body and cute face...probably a solid 7. She was very enthusiastic and at only $40,000 pesos ($20) she was a steal. One pop as they only bring one condom with them, everything covered.

Fantacias was even cheaper at an hour for $40,000 with two condoms. However, girls were a little older, and hygene in the rooms was a little disturbing. At the end of our session I saw her make up the bed with the same sheets I just jizzed on and took my towel from my shower and folded it up and put it back in the pile of "fresh" towels.

The bin was half full of used condoms, a few spewing on the floor. most of this I noticed after my session but it really put me off. As for the girl, she was not hot but not ugly, a 6 with a very cute face, legs and hair but undressed a bit of a gut was apparent. Everything covered and a pretty awful toothy bj, but her fucking was well intentioned and high energy. When I asked her to stop after on the second attempt she seemed frustrated and recommended the toothful BJ determined to make me nut...Jesus, for $20 this is incredible but overall nothing to write home about .

I did visit Escorcias Nightclub right near the Intercontinental. It was $130,000 for an hour and $190,000 for 2 girls. I might not have been there on a good night but the chicas seemed pretty comparable with the girls at the cheap places. I received a beer and there was an attendant so I guess I had the luxury of not romping in another mans fluids but service and quality wise I think there was no meaningful difference

I also did date some of the local girls. Dating is completely different. I was surprised when they would come with a friend on our first date or would refuse to enter into the hotelroom even just to pick something up because of any inference that might have. All this seems to quickly disapate, it seems more ritualistic and to prove they are innocent before they get more action orientated.

I find the colombian (non-hooker) women captivating in their lack of knowledge of how damn hot they are, they have very little attitude, they are very family orientated while still being fun and they are the definition of feminine. I would recommend dating women in Colombia to get over any wounds and fears you carry from the US, generally they seem very innocent and kind at heart. I do not think the guys using the agencies for wives are stupid at all, its a different mrket to whoring but I think Colombian women are better for relationships then whoring from what I saw

Almost all Colombians seem to love tourists and not resent us like many other countries have learned to do. As for danger, I didnt see anything firsthand, and I felt safe as I knew locals, but the sheer amount of security guards, guns and security instrments seems to sugguest you need to be careful. I would stay away from Avinedas Sexta at night, lots of drug deals and unsavory types, I was told by locals to avoid the clubs here and go to a larger upscale place in Norte Cali like Jungle.

Just my observations as a tourist, I am sure the "natives and "implants" know a lot more and welcome their options

Yes, but the House may have no security. Something to take into consideration for sure. However, I will be there for 25 days in Dec so I will be looking into the house deal too.

Short term rentals are all informal. You'll pay more, but no need for guarantors or contracts. Perhaps a deposit, though.
