I got here yesterday for a break from that terrible Thai holiday that is Songkran, only to find that the Khmer New Year is the same damn dates.

136 - dropped in at about 10. I don't think I'll ever come here again. It's not as bad as Shanghai bar, but it's still pretty bad. The staff are pretty hot, and I started chatting up this 23 year old hottie named Tina (or maybe it was Tia). I buy her a drink and we go in the back for a more intimate chat, but chemistry just isn't there. Her bargirl friends kept coming in and sitting with us so it was nearly impossible to talk with her alone. After an hour of bullshit, I got up and paid the bill and left. Never again.

Le Cyrcee - walked in around midnight. I wanted some lovin from my Viet girl, Junto, who is a complete nympho. To my dismay she had gone home the week before. Her friend was there (also a Viet) but she was a real ***** so passed. This other Khmer came up to me - her name is Sofia. 22 years old, hot body. We kissed a little, but the french-kissing wasn't too deep. Since you can't bang these girls on the premises anymore, the prices have gone up:

Golden Towers or Town? Hotel/casino. Ask moto to take you to Olympic stadium. Its the large cream coloured building.

3 dollar foot, 4 dollar body, 5 dollar body with oil (recommended). I tip 4 dollars. Best masages I have had in PP up to now. Had both Chinese and Cambodian girls. Nice private rooms, proper massage tables, trained girls and you even get wrapped up in half a dozen hot towels at the end.

Next time I'll go for the 2 hour oil (8 dollars). It's that good.

Nearby have atlantic club/spa. Massage 6 dollar, oil 10 dollar. Went in but was directed to a communal massage room so I declined.

Fucking hell!!! I knew she was lying and refused to take her out because of it. Came back to Thailand last night because everything is closed in PP - most of the restaurants and many of the bars. Had a very frustrating night my last night there (which I'll post later) so I just said fuck it and came back. If I knew Junto was in town I'd have stayed. Might have to go back next month.

Has any one been in the Mango bar, its the only place in Phnom penh were I have found a bar full of young woman.

Does anyone know if the Asia Hotel is girl-friendly? Planning a trip in November. I stayed at Walkabout the last time, and my room wasn't too too clean, although there was non-stop action at the bar downstairs. Sorry, last time I didn't have the time to do proper research. Next trip will be different.

right around the corner is Chiplay - a tad bit more expensive, but seemed cleaner to me. My objections to WA were the narrow stairs and no lift

I recommend the Asia Palace Hotel. This hotel is girl-friendly. We stayed here for three nights in February and there was no problem to take a girl for the night.

(three nights for 105 $) At this webpage a “Free airport pick up” is announced. Unfortunately, no driver appeared at the airport. In the hotel, nobody knew about this service. I spoke with the manager and he agreed - after showing him a printout of this webpage - without discussion to reduce the price of accommodation by 10 $ (the price for the taxi)

The hotel is clean and quiet. The stuff is friendly. The rooms are equipped with AC and one safe (combination lock). Breakfast is included, but not a great think.

Other hotels I read about to be girl-friendly are Flamingo (close to Walkabout, you should know it) and Good Luck Hotel (same street as Asia Hotel and Asia Palace Hotel)

FYI, I was picked up free by Flamingo's bus last time in PP but the wait was long cuz one hotel guest apparently missed his flight, and we waited a long time til it was obvious he wasn't there. In the meantime, I was feeling impatient and asked normal taxis how much to go to the hotel. They told me $5.

The taxi drivers outside Flamingo, btw, ask for $8 to take you to the airport, which is the price the hotel will quote you.

The moral: negotiate. The going rate for locals obviously must be less than $5. So just tell the driver "$4." If he comes back with $10, then say "Last month I pay $4. I pay $4" and see what happens.

It's a free market. Those guys at the airport look forward to getting more from foreigners and people with money than they would elsewhere, fair enough -- but there's no reason we can't also use our bargaining power like locals do. Eventually you'll settle on a price that's acceptable to both sides, and if you're not too bothered about paying a bit more, if he's a decent negotiator you probably will.
