Truly sorry to read about what happened to you.

The frustrating part of the story is that it probably would not have happened a few months ago. Unfortunately, thievery, robberies and similar petty crimes increase tremendously during the days before and during the fasting month of Ramadan.

It's a simple Harvard Business School case:

- most of the working girls in Jakarta are not from Jakarta but rather from someplace else, a town or village referred to as their "kampung." Most girls seem to come from Indramayu or Semarang, both in Java, as well as other parts of Indonesia.

- these girls are expected to travel home to their kampung to celebrate the "Eid" festival (also known as "Lebaran") at the end of Ramadan. The girls need to have enough cash to pay round-trip train or bus fare (200,000 rupiah, maybe 300,000 rupiah or more) and buy clothes and other presents for their families (including the girls' children), plus have some cash in their pocket to pay for food and some cash gifts as well, in total we're talking at least a couple million rupiah (over US $200) if not more. The expectation for gifts brings enormous pressures on these girls; they have to come home for the holiday, and they cannot show up empty-handed.

- on the other hand, the potential revenue earnings for these girls in Jakarta temporarily drops during this period, as many of the MPs and spas are closed for the entire month of Ramadan, and bar activity drops as many bars/discos/pick-up places have reduced operating hours for the month. And of course most of these girls have saved little if any cash during the last 11 months (since last year's Eid).

- the bottom line is obvious - the pressure to get money for Lebaran can force even the most (normally) honest girl to be tempted to steal! or beg or borrow, etc.

Of course, not all girls will steal; many will use their feminine charms to persuade their gentlemen friends (like me) to come visit them for a session at their MP/spa just before the spa closes for Ramadan, or at least to get a small cash donation. During the last 10 days, I received sms messages from at least 12 different girls, all asking me to stop by for a session, with the obvious hope of receiving a larger-than-normal tip from me.

Wow, a newbie with only one post, and you didn't even spell the word "Ramadan" correctly! Who are you?

As always, RTFF and you'll find the answers to all of your questions, such as learning that the Atrium Mall is another good pick-up mall (although most girls there speak little or no English).

In any case, your post indicates that you already have enough information to get laid in Jakarta. So:

It seems like Ramadan would be a good time for mongering for the long time residents who have a collection of phone numbers. Not only the regular bar girls but the massage girls as well are not working and desperate for money. They will readily come to your place at any time of the day and shag your brains out. As long as you have their numbers, you can have a steady flow of pussy knocking on your door. More so than any other time of year.

However, I find that Ramadan is also the time of year where they really pressure you for more money. They come up with every story in the world and push 10 times harder than normal. Girls who never ask me for anything will invariably ask me for money over and over and over at that time of year. I've never had any girl steal from me in Jakarta - ever. But I'm so sick of the excessive haggling and begging at that time of year that I don't even spend that month in indonesia anymore. That and the fact that it's difficult to go out at night and have some fun. Home delivery is basically the only decent option. I now leave a week before Ramadan starts and return a week after it ends. I find the negatives outweigh the positives too much.

The fasting month of Ramadan has started, so most of the MPs and spas (other than the ones located in hotels - see Oyenk's list) are closed down, to reopen in mid-October.

However, many of the girls who work in these places are still in town for a couple of weeks, working as freelancers to get some more money before they head home for the "Eid" festival at the end of Ramadan.

4pm will be fine.. after 11.30 the mall gets busy. You can also go before 11.30 when the mall is empty, it will be easier to spot some of the pro's, just to know which ones they are. There is a large group of them. It's true - most of them are low grade, single mummy's that almost live in the mall and travel as far as from Bandung or Bogor. But pro's are not what makes the mall interesting. Atrium is not very well documented on the monger boards - not very well documented, read between the lines. That's all I would like to say. cheers.

The great Bulai69 once wrote that the best time to go to the Atrium was about 11.00 AM. I followed his advice and scored some stunners. I also went with members from abroad to Atrium and they can confirm that at that time, you can get stunners if you act fast. I have to mention though that security is tailing the girls in there, so you'll have to recognize the subtle signs the girls give.
