I would proceed with extreme caution. As others have mentioned, these saunas are probably reopening because they need the money, not because it's safe again.

I usually go to Manhattan and got to know some of the ladies. I'm sure you all know many of them are very sweet and provide good service. I'm passing on some information from some of the Manhattan ladies because I want to support them, and update the forum on where a large group of the girls are going to be.
I was asked by a large group of ladies from Manhattan to let the forum know that they are moving to Judy's. They are complaining about how Manhattan has been mistreating them (randomly kick out girls; use force on them; make them stand in the rain) and recently started demanding the girls pay 500 - 1000 rmb every night or they don't let them in the bar.
They could deal with the mistreatment, because they were able to make money, but they cannot accept the bar also trying to scam them for money (the girls do not get any money from customers buying drinks, obviously). They're afraid if they do pay, the bar will continue to make them pay and keep asking for more money.
Personally, I think it's wrong for Manhattan to take advantage of the girls during this scary time, and I don't want to have to pay more or want the girls to make less than they're worth.
Take it FWIW, but my regulars are all now at Judy's. I believe them and doesn't hurt to check out the scene at Judy's to confirm the move. If you're a senior member and want some connects, PM me.
What do you think, how safe are the incalls at Craigslist and similar pages at these times?

PM me.[/QUOTE]Can anyone else confirm this? This would make no sense. A good part (if not all) of Manhattan draw is the girls. With JUdy's 2 blocks away, it would be obvious for the girls to go down the street.
Personally, I have always preferred (the old) Judy's. The girls were more fun and seemed less focused on money. The last time I went in March however, it seemed the girls at Judy's were on average a notch below Manhattans. I still found most of my gems there and brought them home.

However, always thought that there is a clear difference between the top tier ladies at Manhattan vs. Judy's in terms of looks. If this evens out, Judy's is actually preferable as the male crowd and servers at Manhattan are more annoying.
Places are close enough such that maybe I'll suck it up and just go between both bars whenever I'm there. Thanks for the intel!

Was in SH one night on the 8/30, already knew about the situation. I was so looking forward to saunas as I had few experiences before when I was living there. So despite the situation, I added a lot of wechat / QQ contacts to see if I can get anything set up. Came across this person saything they are open, so off I went. It was so far, the opposite direction of the disney line and second last stop, so it took me like more than an HR on the subway. The location was like border line just a bit outside of SH so maybe that's why they dare to open.
However it wasn't what I expected, the location was a hotel in a pretty empty building instead of a sauna. I still managed to get my business done. When I was picking the girls, a lot refused me. Later on when I talked to the girl I was with, and learned that police came by earlier, that was why some of the ladies refused to do business. Though the lady said the pimp indicated that the police was searching for drug addict instead, anyway I felt creepy hearing this so I finished my session quick and hopped onto a private cab and make my way back to the hotel.
I had another legit contact of a sauna where my friends were customers, I contacted them and learned that they can offer service if I go to their designated hotel and tell them the girl I want and they'll send it. I didn't go with this because I wanted to be able to pick girls right on the spot. FYI.

During my Manhanttan days (at least two years ago), I had personally seen them throwing girls out. This normally happened when the bar got too crowded, the manager with that short bob haircut would walk around with one of those laser type flashlight and flashed randomly at the girls. Bouncers or bartender types walking behind her would then send the selected girls out the door, sometimes yanking them roughly by the arm.
I spoke with a few of the WG's to find out it happened frequently on a nightly basis. Usually they picked out girls who did not have a drink in their hand or were not hanging out with any customers. There were times when a customer would speak up for a certain girl, this helped. To get around this, the WG's either had to befriend that manager, buy their own drinks, get the customers to buy them drinks, or keep an eye out for "Bobby". Whenever she made her rounds around the bar with a couple of guys behind her, move to the other side of the bar.
No mention of Manhattan asking for money from the girls, but this was at least two years ago. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they do it now.

The saunas are NOT open. They call this Waimai, as in take out service. They rented several rooms or a whole floor in a local cheap hotel and operate out of there. Guys, this is dangerous. Even more risky than going to the saunas themselves.
Haomen, the biggest sauna on Quyang Lu tried this. Moved their operations down the road to a Hanting hotel, they got busted. Videos of this is on the internet. If you want to go this route, get the girls to come to your hotel.

To answer NRock and Arizona123, I was only shown a newly formed group chat of (at a glance) 20 of the Manhattan girls "boycotting" Manhattan. Their conversation was in Vietnamese, so I don't know all the details of what was said.
Charging the girls is new, and seemed to start about the same time as the city-wide crack down. That's why I said I really don't think it's right for the bar to leverage the current situation to make money off the ladies. The bar knows that there are fewer options available to the ladies to quickly find customers and try to make their minimum quota for the night.
I have personally had chats when some of them were kicked out, and when the entrance fee started. When they were kicked out some of the ladies would still try to wait outside and find help to get in (or sneak in). But if caught then they were again pushed out unless a customer stood up for them. When the fee's started, some of them didn't know what to do and would stand outside for a bit, before giving up and trying someplace else.
The hard part for the ladies is if all the good customers and larger crowd go to Manhattan, then of course that's where they want to be. I told them wherever the good girls go, we will eventually find out and follow. The hard part is getting the word out quick enough, so I agreed to post here.
Some of the ladies have already started to leave Shanghai due to the overall situation. I don't want to see them leave, but it could be safer for them anyway.
Not asking anyone to take my word for it, as Judy's' is just down the street. But, if you are so compelled and are able to spread the word on other sites (especially Chinese since I can't do Chinese), please do so.
Look at it this way too, if you check out Judy's' and the hot ones are there, but not many guys then you have better selection for yourself!
Other option is if you have direct contact or know someone who does, the ladies are usually open to introducing their friends from trusted acquaintances.
One last personal comment, times are tough right now. Be fair and don't waste their time, please. It sucks when my date is late or in a bad mood when she gets to me! Take care of them and they will for sure take care of you (yea I'm a bit of a softy, but we're are more fortunate than them).
