Reply. Freak On Antes De 12:00 am
Hard to get the freak on when we don't even arrive until 12:00 am.
My concern would be running into the same cops again. Switching times is a good idea IMO. It should be easy to do since those hours are not an ideal time to be out on the streets anyway. The beauty of Tijuana is you can do it all before the sun goes down! No need to wait past 12 am to get your freak on.
Hugo lay low for a while.
You did a great job. Now look at it as the cost of doing "business" in the 3rd world and move on.
A bit more aggro in Medillin
Seeing how the behavior of these cops was much different than your normal just looking for a bribe, or slipping a few dollars out of your pocket during a search.
Your are lucky that this did not happen to you in Colombia.

Early Saturday / Sunday shakedowns.
It seems like the MO of this cop (s) is to cruise the Zona in the early morning looking for tourists to shake down. In the early morning because if a tourist is still leftover from the night before, he's likely to have spent the night drinking. And an intoxicated victim is unlikely to resist nor file a complaint. This is also the time when there are less people in the streets to act as a witness.
So early Saturday or Sunday is not a good time to be on the streets in the Zona. Better to wait until at least 8 am to wander ouside?
