Puritanism will not last. Good luck on trying to outlaw human desire. Until then, I will take my mongering elsewhere.
Most important is we make decisions based on facts on the ground. In most of the USA, you have an irrationally oppressive legal framework toward prostitution. Let's see where Shanghai is during 2nd half of Oct.
Not sure how real this video is (or the information above each person): https://www.facebook.com/ShanghaiExpat/videos/1661013780637061/.
But one could easily imagine such facial-recognition technology already in widespread use in China. Do we now need to wear hats and large sunglasses when hobbying?
It seems to be the recognition system for self driving cars.

Why Shanghai?
What I ask all the time since I've heared from crackdowns and cleaning shanghai, why especially Shanghai? There will be national conference in Oct in Beijing. I might understand if they will clean up Beijing, because all will concentrate on this city. And what is with other famous cities in China are they crackdowned as well in this way?
And is it usual that everything come calmer after the conference and will go back to its usual Shanghai reputation?
It seems to be the recognition system for self driving cars.
It is a demo of a system under development for object recognition and tracking. The real-life system would not show all the tags on the screen. Typically used to locate a person or object by a description (such as European monger wearing blue short-sleeved shirt and long black trousers last seen escaping the XXXX sauna etc. Haha). These systems will become increasingly sophisticated over the next couple of years. I was interested to not that the system was even able to identify (belatedly) the person partially obscured by the traffic sign. Not bad!
There are already many systems that recognise suspicious or violent behaviour of people from video surveillance cameras.
Ikks.

Shanghai traditionally has been Jiang territory.
If Emperor Xi is to solidify his position during the 19th conference, Jiang gang. Will be purged.
Currently the easiest way to nail Jiang appointed officials is over some minor corruption charges.
So the officials in Shanghai won't give him any excuses.
If you know Chinese, any taxi driver csn cone up with this.
Whether its true or not, who knows.

A double-edged sword for sure.

Lev.
No, Bobib, I am not rude, rtff is a common expression, here. If you would have read the last 5 - 10 last pages, you probably would have realized that it is not a good time to ask such a question.
Got it?

Weather improving?
Just was asked by one of my regulars to come and see her in the massage parlor she is working at. Are things improving? I am still not convinced and will stay away for another while.

Lev.
Walking around, I still see a lot of places with yellow tape over the doors. If things were easing up, I'd expect they'd re-open. It's funny actually. Now we know where all the good places to go are, once they reopen .

Improvement?
I was noticing also, that some of my contacts, who have been totally quiet for 1,5 months have woken in WC. Might it be police catching their accounts or is it real improvement? Time will show, but I won't be the first in the testing row.

Some stash in Shanghai
Hey,
So I know that this forum isn't exactly for this reason, but having moved from a country where stash (Hash, MJ) was in abundance, been quite sober since I got to Shanghai. Any suggestions as to where I could possibly source the same?
Cheers!

BTW good job at having made 0 contributions and always asking for help in your 2 years on this board.

Lev.
Back when Minhang was under attack they had reopened during the public holidays as it was meant to be a safe time (and closed back again right at the end).
So next week could be expected to be less exposed under normal raid times. But this is not a normal raid time so I wouldn't try my luck on this one if I were you.
