Just like any other hobby, you have to control before it becomes an addiction. Eg. There are people who are fond of cars and cars is their hobby. Some have even ruined their finances by random purchase and sale of cars losing lakhs of rupees. They buy just because they like some model without thinking twice. It's very easy to say that you said a monthly budget with some occasional splurging. I usually do try to stick to that. However it does not mean that once in a while you take fancy to something new and shiny. Everything should be in moderation.

After all, we are men and do think with our the*ck once in a while. Permanent fixtures or side attachments usually spoil the budget. They also come with broader financial risks later.

Best bet: Fix quaterly bidget, splurge once in a while and don't forget to pamper yourself on big days or events. You deserve it.
