Most of the better East Asian airlines (Korea Air, JAL, ANA, Asiana, Singapore) at least don't charge you for checked bags .
I only fly Singapore Airlines nowadays. 20kgs is the economy ticket, check in baggage allowance. I asked and they said, up to 22kgs ok. Saw a Filipino woman get charged around $500 for 20 kilos excess check in baggage. Filipino's find it hard to travel light. All those chocolates for the extended families. Also in Philippines, and Singapore Airlines again, saw a German lady being asked to pay in excess of a thousand dollars for 30 kilogrammes of excess baggage back to Germany. She jettisoned 30kgs there and then on the Airport floor. Airlines are touchy about weights nowadays, especially cause cost of airline fuel costs so much nowadays. Top airlines are watching weights too.
They also don't change flight times or overbook very often
I have a flight booked from UK to New Zealand with Malaysia airlines. My flight details have been changesd 3 times since I booked 4 months ago.
I know what they call themselves. I call them shit. Thanks for the advice though. I stick to real airlines with properly trained staff and maintained equipment. And water I don't have to pay for. Cheers.
I have trouble understanding the mindset of people who pay a 2 star price but still expect 5 star service. All of the low cost airlines publish their T & C's online, so you know what to expect. If you don't like the 2 star service, pay the 5 star price (assuming you can find a 5* airline that flies into AC).
Nothing p*sses me off more than being delayed checking in or boarding a low cost flight because there's some argumentative half with at the front of the queue with an oversized cabin bag, who thinks the rules don't apply to him. I tell a lie, there is something more anoying, and that's when I have paid to put my case in the hold of the plane. But I can't find a space for my compliant carry on bag because all of the overhead lockers are full of oversize bags.

Wow, you seem to have a lot of hate in you. Have you tried meditation? Have you tried sedatives? Do you have any restraining orders?

I'd love to hear the voice recording of that flight.

Japan and Korea take up a big chunk of the top 10 airline lists every year for a reason.
I've flown hundreds of thousands of miles, for work and for pleasure, never had a problem with ANA, JAL, Korea Air or Asiana. Have on the other hand had problems with "low cost airlines" (Air Asia, RyanAir, JetBlue) & Chinese, US and Malaysian based carriers just about every time I've flown with them, EVER. Some of the European lines like KLM and Lufthansa haven't been bad.
YMMV.
I'd rather pay more for better service. Sometimes I have to budget. But if the budget is going to put me on shit airlines, public transportation and moldy old guest houses, I'd rather just stay home in my nice comfy Manhattan Apartment.

Agree with you
Well, that's exactly the problem. They charge for checked bags. That combined with a 15% lost luggage rate makes people want to carry everything on.
15% lost luggage rate? LOL.
I regularly travel on the budget arilines with 20K of checked baggage and I rarely get charged more than $15-20 per sector. From Clark that's generally for a 3 hour flight to BKK. So what's the big deal? Do you honestly expect the budget airlines to allow you to travel for free because you're a monger of outstanding pedigree?

Falling plane
I'd love to hear the voice recording of that flight.
Not too much panic. The engines failed after ingesting a large amount of ash, turning the 747 into the worlds biggest glider.
After a considerable amount of time the pilots managed to relight two engines, allowing the plane to make a "normal" landing. Shows you what all those hours of training are good for. The engines were a write-off and the plane needed a paint job after the free grit blasting.
Regards,
Ko

I don't know how your geographical split is working if you include Singapore but not Malaysia? (and the last time I looked at Skytrax Malaysia was 5 star rated). Did it ever occur to you that if you're having an issue with all these airlines the problem is with you?
PS I am behind you all the way with Ryanair. They are truely sh*t

I would like to also rant about fat ass people who need to buy 2 freaking seats. Lose weight you fat ass smelly bastards OR BUY 2 SEATS and stop flowing into my small space. We will now resume normal programing
I'd love to hear the voice recording of that flight.
This incident was subject to one hour documentary on Nathional Geographic Channel some years ago. I don't bother to try look it up for you. It is called: Airline Disasters or Aircraft Investigations. You could atleast hear some of the original communication between pilot and ATC.
15% lost luggage rate? LOL.
Look it up chief. Some are really up that high.
I remember I was working on a project involving the financial losses this was causing back in 2009. There was an airline we were looking at, Atlantic Southeast, that had a 10% LIFETIME loss rate. 1 out of every 10 bags checked! And this was even low because they had been "improving" over the last two years of their existence!

Just like the bus is shit for people who can't afford better. Which is why I don't fly with them, like I said.
You get what you pay for.
