I have a question for the forums. I joined up with RL since you guys reference it so much. For the guys that have experience with the site? 1) Are the photos pretty accurate, because most of the girl are attractive. 2) are the girls regular girls or prostitutes. 3) I don't want to post my face on a dating site, so will any girls agree to meet with me when I am in Colombia w / o a photo. Any other cliffs notes about the site you want to share would be good.
1) Some of the profiles are fake. Fake in that they are chicas trying to get you to view their webcam site. Other giveaways: If a chica only wants to talk to you via SKYPE (gives her Skype name and not her cell phone number) , she is most likely a scammer. Any chica that is trying to hook up with foreigners for cash (in person) is not going to waste time giving out her Skype screen name unless she is trying to scam a extrajerno with RFM's (Requests for Money). Also, some of the chicas in the photos are much older than the ones on their profiles. The site has really gone down hill over the last year despite the makeover.
My friend recently told me that once your membership expires, your profile is supposed to be converted to a "free member " (read "non-paid subscription") which is supposed to still allow you to browse profiles, but you cannot contact chicas. Instead, your profile is now "locked" to the subscription page, and you will not be able to navigate from this page unless you pay more money (meaning, you will not be able to "look before you buy"). This is a new change which sort or signals desperation on their part. Was not like this before.
2) Not all of them are hooking. I've noticed a lot more older women (30+) joining the site now. Their profiles say they are looking for serious relationships.
3) Vitrea is 100% correct. You will not get any responses without a photo. If you are worried about other male gringos seeing you, then do not friend any chicas on RL. Once you friend a chica, you will show up on her friends list on her page and all the other gringos will see that you have been added. Chicas will still respond to you and message you even if you do not accept their friend request (just don't click "Decline") ; but you are wasting your time if you do not add a photo to your profile.

Freelance prepagos
Hi,
As I said somewhere else I am in Medellin. Recently I had to leave the city in order to work as counselor in mi workfield. Anyway, I was going to be in a long abstinence so I decided to contact a girl who I had invited just a few days to have a tinto (dark coffee) in a fancy restaurant in La Playa. So I write her an email, she called me and we agreed to meet at el centro early because I had to take a bus at noon.
Although I had treated her very well despite not being a goddess and I told her my idea was we started a very professional yet erotic friendship she stopped answering the phone. The next day she said she was in a personal affair and that she did not answer because I called from unknown numbers etc etc.
The advice is that we must distinguish the professional girls who are getting started in this business because often they are looking for someone to be your boyfriend and go on that promise overnight for 300K pesos and violate any commitment they have.
Sometimes when we try to get fresh meat we have to handle with these disappointments. Fortunately, the area is full of casas de masajes, in this case I ended up in Andromeda. But that's another story.
Saludos a todos
Lutron is turning out to be a consistent disappointment. I bet money that, unless they change their business model, they are going to close within the year. :-) (.) . I would still suggest visiting this place if you are a first timer in MDE.
I do nor suggest that after such a bad review. I can say that today girls are taking advance of the police control to pimping and going out at night more often to search her clients. ¿Why on earth wold you go to a brothel if You can see the girls dancing and talking, try to be nice with them, change numbers without someboby molesting You?
So I recommend places like Sinko Bar in El Poblado (search on FB) if You want to get to know the local ways, and specially what they consider buen gusto (good taste). There I have scored a coupled of times (one of them paying) and I have made some local friends.really just acquaintances with hot chics as friends, and in this sense, my friends.

New Life and Sexy 2
So I have't been to casas the last couple of trips and had some free time so decided to check out my 2 favorites. New Life and Sexy on 45D. I had stopped going to New Life because they had the same old girls every time. Sexy had a great selection. Now it has reversed again. New Life had about 20 chicas. Most I have ever seen. They just kept coming out! Many good ones. I did a blonde with big fake boobs. I went downstairs to get some lunch to recharge before Sexy. Thigh and wing fried chicken with bottle of ice tea for 5k. Wow that is cheap! Then I went to Sexy. About 10 chicas and not a looker in them all. So things have reversed again. Also, New Life raised prices to 38k now!

First visit
Have a dumb gringo / newbie question. I'm an American interested in visiting Medellin / Columbia for the first time. I've been to São Paulo and Rio before, I speak portuguese and can understand basic Spanish. How dangerous is Medellin? What are the best and safest clubs to visit? I've read the forum a bit; is kidnapping much of a concern nowadays? Thing of the past, or just a problem outside the cities?
If you are so worried about someone seeing you. Go find a picture of someone that resembles you.
I was thinking of that, but I think Brad Pitt would sue the website and make them take it off.
Also, New Life raised prices to 38k now!
Its been that price for a while now.
What was the name of the chicken place you went to?

If you walk towards Sexy from New Life, pass 45D (if U-turn right on 45D it's Sexy) and it's on that corner. 4 outdoor tables.

But you won't be staying in them. If you stay in Poblado, like many Gringos, that's about as safe as a rich USA suburb. If you're used to mongering in Rio and S. Paulo, I think MDE is generally safer than those two cities (though probably not as much fun IMO).

I've read the forum a bit; is kidnapping much of a concern nowadays? Thing of the past, or just a problem outside the cities?
The Department of State reminds USA citizens of the dangers of travel to Colombia. Security in Colombia has improved significantly in recent years, including in tourist and business travel destinations such as Cartagena and Bogota, but violence linked to narco-trafficking continues to affect some rural areas and parts of large cities. This replaces the Travel Warning for Colombia issued February 21, 2012, to update information on recent security incidents and terrorist activity.
While the Embassy possesses no information concerning specific and credible threats against USA citizens in Colombia, we strongly encourage you to exercise caution and remain vigilant as terrorist and criminal activities remain a threat throughout the country. Two people were killed and approximately 60 injured by a car bomb during an assassination attempt on the life of a former Interior Minister on May 15, 2012. Explosions occur throughout Colombia on a regular basis, including some in Bogota itself. Small towns and rural areas of Colombia can still be extremely dangerous due to the presence of terrorists and narco-traffickers, including armed criminal gangs (referred to as 'BACRIMs' in Spanish) , that are active throughout much of the country. Violence associated with the BACRIM has spilled over into many of Colombia's major cities. These groups are heavily involved in the drug trade.
Although the incidence of kidnapping in Colombia has diminished significantly from its peak in 2000, it remains a threat, and is of particular concern in rural areas. Terrorist groups and other criminal organizations continue to kidnap and hold civilians for ransom or as political bargaining chips. No one is immune from kidnapping on the basis of occupation, nationality, or other factors. One USA citizen was kidnapped and killed in March 2011, and another was kidnapped and freed in May 2011. The USA government places the highest priority on the safe recovery of kidnapped USA citizens, but it is USA policy not to make concessions to or strike deals with kidnappers. Consequently, the USA government's ability to assist kidnapping victims is limited.
USA government officials and their families in Colombia are permitted to travel to major cities in the country, but normally only by air. They may not use inter- or intra-city bus transportation, or travel by road outside urban areas at night. USA government officials and their families in Colombia must file a request to travel to any area in Colombia outside of two general areas. The first area is outlined by the cities of Bogota, Anolaima, Cogua, and Sesquile. The second area is on the Highway 90 corridor that connects Cartagena, Barranquilla, and Santa Marta. All USA citizens in Colombia are urged to follow these precautions and exercise extra caution outside of the aforementioned areas.

I did not go out much at night there, but they recommended me to not venture just 1-2 miles South the Congress Hall, because of the high crime rate and the danger of robbings and kidnappings.

black page and i know what you meant and i know it is a serious question in your mind.
one of my pet peeves is folks that just ask questions and never contribute. you claim that you have been to rio and sao paulo but never bothered to contribute to the forum. this forum is all about sharing information. you give a little and you are likely to get a lot back. have fun in mde. regarding safety, you already have your answer from other contributors. imho, for tourists, it is infinitely safer than rio.
