Kyopo here with 80% or so Korean language ability. I've been able to bluff my way into "Korean only" places such as anmas and glass houses. Got an Opstar account and tried ringing a nearby officetel listed. I thought each listing was an individual freelancer but seems like each listing is a mini-online brothel with a menu of girls. An ajusshi answered the listed phone number and I fumbled my way for a bit before he asked. "Are you a foreigner?" For bookings, each place is different and if you're set on a specific girl they'll let you know her availabilities or ask you for your "type".

Afterwards you might need to verify with a business card or some other type of personal info to make sure you're not a narc. Depends on the establishment.

If you don't put a space between the syllables, the site shows only the first one and lists the rest in a numeric code, I. E.

If your Korean is that good, making a simple reservation shouldn't be a problem. My Korean ability is really quite low and I've been able to navigate phone call reservations relatively easily.

If the officetel you contacted did not want to offer service, I imagine that they must have thought something was strange about the call. Maybe you asked too many questions and they thought you were going to cause problems.

Next time, just ask for a reservation with a particular girl at a particular time and tell them any options that you would like to add on to the service. It is really that simple.

They may ask you whether this is your first time. You can tell them that you've never visited this particular officetel, but that you've been a customer at this or that anma or gunma in the past. If they have a contact with the shop you mentioned, they will call them to check. If they don't have a contact, just stating that you have already purchased sex in the past may suffice. Some shops may want additional info from you such as a photo of your business card or ID card. It seems shady, but it really isn't.

If they ask you whether you are kyopo again, rather than admit that you are a kyopo, just tell them that you are Korean, but that you lived abroad in your teens or twenties. This might be reasons enough why your Korean isn't perfect.

Also, don't give up on the first reservation. Just call around to other shops.

To your other point, the earlier you try to book, the fewer options you will have. Some of the girls are not ready or awake first thing in the afternoon. Sometimes, as late as 5:00 or 6:00 pm, the shops seem to run a skeleton crew. If you goal is to be the first of the day, early afternoon is your best bet. Also, many places offer an afternoon discount of 10,000 to 20,000 won depending on the service you choose. Just be prepared to ask them which girls are available at the time you want to book your appointment.
