I think someone told the story on here a while back of refusing to be victimized and calling the bluff. I don't doubt it happened that way but it's not my idea of a good time.
I accepted a massage from one of these hot chicas, she gave me a massage plus shaved my private area. When she finished the guy outside the massage area gave me a haircut and a facial treatment while the lady worked my hands and feet. He quoted me about $160.00 US in a sheet of paper. I paid about $35 which was the originally agreed price. I always acted as a gentleman but was firm that we agreed on a price and that the other services were not requested by me so I consider it part of the deal.
I got a haircut and a manicure was charged 50 bucks. I reported to the tourist police 15 minutes later the guy is in hand cuffs on his way to jail.
Happen to me twice
The tourist police were great when this happen to me. The first time the guy dumps all this stuff I did not want and charges an outrageous amount. I report to the tourist police and he is handcuffed and escorted to the police station. They have very strict rules for venders in the zone. They do not want tourists abused because tourism his a huge economic factor. The second time I handled the situation myself. I called him a thief and told him to kiss my ass. I said no problem let's get the police. The guy back tracked faster then Bolt. I paid like $500 pesos and rolled.

Everything offends someone these days. Very good, Frannie. I enjoyed reading this. I'm a Yank but have also been called Howlee (sp?) in Hawaii and several other less-than-flattering names in my travels. Cheers.

My comments were obviously tongue-in-cheek. If you are writing for publication or making a political speech, you are best advised to stick to the terminology recommended by the Chicago Manual of Style or similar publications, but for informal online use or discussions, it does not really matter so much as long as you avoid terms that are obviously meant to insult the reader.

Masochism?
I don't personally understand why it would be allowed to happen a second time.
... it is fairly safe to call North Americans "Yanks".
Is it now acceptable to call proud citizens of the Deep South "Yanks"?
Is it now acceptable to call proud citizens of the Deep South "Yanks"?
Yanks don't really use the term themselves. It tends to be used by Brits, Aussies, and Saffers who don't know anything about the history of the term.

Bar Pink
Has anyone checked this place out yet?

Pink bar
Boricua and I think a few others were there. Run by Waleska from Cisne, GBP, Theresa. More of a take out place, they have a room in back that is pretty basic. 1500 negotiable as always. It's on Costa Rica Street on the second floor of a little strip mall across the street from a park and just east of the corner of Venezuela. There is easy on street parking. It's about three streets past the La Barrica sports bar that is on Venezuela.

Anyway, that does not answer my question, but this does (if true):
"Call a Southerner a Yankee and he'll think you're either just plain dumb or that you are trying to pick a fight. ".
Again, I don't know how much truth there is in this:
"To foreigners, a Yankee is an American.
To Americans, a Yankee is a Northerner.
To Easterners, a Yankee is a New Englander.
To New Englanders, a Yankee is a Vermonter. ".

Conde massage girls
On my recent visit, I noticed a group of ladies along El Conde all wearing canary yellow t shirts and jeans offering massages, pedicures and manicures. There were a couple of other establishments where there were men dressed as barbers, one on El Conde itself almost next door to the Pub Alleman and one about 20 metres round the corner to the left down Calle Palo Hincado heading towards the seafront, standing in the doorway also offering these services. Interestingly, every one of them were dark skinned Dominicans.
Nowadays I'm more into he massages than FS and was sorely tempted to toftt but having rtff, I was mindful of potential scams. Does anyone know whether these places offer more than a massage?
I have had several recent encounters with these girls. I start by telling them I am interested in more than a massage, and when they ask what I say a blowjob. They will then offer you a very high price, which I negotiate a little way down to 1500 if they agree to BBBJ. I am an older guy, and these girls are never my first encounter of the day, so I am not likely to finish soon. So somewhere around 15-20 minutes of BBBJ, they get tired, and I suggest fucking- which they always do for an additional 500 (generally, they bend over the table and I take them form the rear).
Its a bit pricey overall, but it is 30-40 minutes of fun, and some of the girls are extremely hot.
The alternative, by the way, is to ask them to come to your hotel and do the massage. I do not talk sex until we get to my room, but it has worked out being a massage plus full service.

Police Stop
On the way back from Boca Chica to Santo Domingo a few minutes ago and I was stopped on the upper malecon (Via Espana) by a couple of National Police in a truck. I had never been stopped by a vehicle before; I had only been stopped by the guys on the motorbikes.
How it happened was I came from behind him and passed at about 70 km/hr while he had his lights on (I know a Black man is never supposed to pass the police.) He then turned his lights off and sped up to catch me. He turned the lights back on when he was directly behind me but I just ignored him. Then he came in the right lane and up to my passenger side and was saying something. I was too busy jamming music to pay attention. I went ahead of him again. He caught back up and I finally pulled over. One came to my side and the other went to my dad's side of the car. He asked for my documents. I said what for? He said some BS that I wasn't even paying attention to. I handed him my phone with my picture of me and the vice president together and asked if I needed to call my friend. He looked at it and asked, "Is that Margarita?" as he passed the phone back. I said it sure is. And she is your friend? I said yep and held the phone to my face so he could see the picture and me at the same time. Then he asked if I was in a rental car. I said it sure is. He said well what are you going to tell her when you call? I said I will say I was on my way to my hotel and some asshole police pulled me over for nothing. He said but I am the police. I am your friend too. I said okay friend then dapped him up and told him my name. He said how about a little gift for the police. I laughed and said man I was just about to ask you the same thing! Then I rolled up the window and drove off.
