I sometimes thought about this idea of leaving everything in Australia and go to this BBFSCIP dreamland! I know this work colleague living in Perth and he did exactly this. Divorced in his early 60's, went to Philippines and now spent half a year there. He loved it and said that everything is cheap there. He eventually found this girl and brought her to Australia. He is till travelling back and forth though.

Last year, I had an opportunity to go for a work related trip to China. Extended the trip and spent 2 nights in Shanghai. First time in the city so it was difficult to get a good catch. Tried 3 places and all was below average. I guess it takes time to explore and 2 nights just wasn't enough.

The bottom line is it is hard leaving everything behind. Not easy to start a new life in a new country. Also need steady income as the pension is not going to be enough. And then we all eventually get to the stage when we can't do it any more, then what. Back to Australia and die a miserable death?

It's tough isn't it. I can't do it at the moment but I can see the pros and cons with each scenario. In the mean time, we just have to continue with what we've got!!
