Can Anyone Recommend A Hotel In Rio That Is In A Good Safe Area That Is Not Pricey? I Am Going To Rio For The First Time And Have No Clue Where To Stay. I Want To Be Able To Walk To The Beach And Clubs. Going For Two Weeks In August.

Symbol is a nice club also. Has a ground level party area, a separate bar section to the right, and a large upstairs party area. Great for meeting civilians (means normal girls - not GdPs)!
The club is in Centro near the Carioca metro station.
They also have a web site. You can google it.

This is my 2nd day in Rio and I wanted to try some of the "off the beaten path" spots that Sperto and other Brazil experts have been discussing for years. With it being Sunday, my options were slim but I was feeling rather brave so I ended up catching a cab to Villa Mimosa alone for my first visit.

VM is very filthy as hell as others have pointed out but to my surprise as I walked through those clubs and alleys I found about quite a few 7's, 8's and maybe a few 9's. I was surprised as hell. My personal opinion about the quality of the Girls at VM is that 50% of the girls are not doable at all for my standards (6's or below). 30% are doable (6's & 7's). 20% are hot (8's & above). I ended up trying two of the hot ones. Rooms were bad, no good place to wash up Total Damage for the girls and several beers was about 65 reals. I left there smiling and wondering why in 10 + trips I had never visited the spot.

Got back to Copa, and ran into a friend that wanted to go to Help. Walked inside and had never seen this place with such low talent. I would say that on this night 40% of the girls are not doable at all for my standards (6s and belwo), 30% are doable (6's & 7's). 10% are hot (8's & above). Help appears to have less turnover than a Brroklyn McDonald's. I'm seeing the same girls I've seen for the last 10 trips in the same exact places. A friend of mine mentioned that Help is now so predicatable that he could be blind folded and still tell you were each GDP is standing. I chatted with an 8 and negotiated a R250 rate for TLN. Then I started thinking to myslef ". Hold on Lowdown. This is almost the same girl you smashed at VM for R28" Upon that realization, I just couldn't go through with it. I apologized to the girl, told her that I was beginning feel sick and that maybe I would see her tomorrow. I bought here a drink to make amends and then left. I don't think I'll ever return. I'm a Lowdown Villa Mimosa Man now!

of the beach and headed back and walked up to the street just before Othlon, and guess what,
another guy stops me. Same tactics as the other, and then suddenly theres shouting and
the guy from before comes running up shouting in porto, Anyway 2 and 2 together, he's saying
I saw this gringo 1st blah blah.

I used an alias with both men but they now recognise me, and all I want to do is sit down
on the beach with these garottas and be left alone instead of being fleeced! Any advice?

Anyway I am totally blown away by the bodies on brazilian women. I'm tripping over pavements
on NS because I'm looking around at every women. I'm sure it will pass once I get settled...lol

LOL[/QUOTE]Just be firm with these touts, you do not need their services and are "siteseeing", In Copa, go a few feet to the left of Othon and sit in EL Moreno's section. His tent says "Moreno", he speaks English and is very honest, he works with his wife and daughter and has been in Posto 5 in this spot for over 20 years. Rent a chair, and buy beer from this guy, and he will never rip you off. Stay away from the other scumbags!

Make sure you check out the scene in Posto 9 in Ipanema on a Saturday or Sunday, wear a loose pair of trunks, you are gonna have wood from the garotas. 95% of them are NON Pro, but in front of Caesar Park Hotel there are a handful of semi pros looking for action. Much nicer scene than Othon, you have normal cariocas and no touts.
