Around Awoshie area with my wife.
Thanks Greetsie for the info. Next rookie question is how do they know the car has been out of Accra / Tema area. Do they only look at the miles. Everyday I will go on day trips in a different direction from the city.
Thanks
Griot
PLEASE it is not longer 100 or 200 Thousand. It's now 10 or 20 Ghana Cedis.
But the value is the same. :-) Around 20$
You get cheap car at the African Regent Hotel. No mileage within the Tema Accra Area.
Perhaps but the locals still use the old method of quoting money.

I will be in Accra in 3 weeks. I have read about taxis being stopped and people robbed. I want to carry as much cash as possible so I do not need thw AMT's. Whats your advice.
Also do the hotels like Penta and Blue Royal charge a large tax on their rooms?? I know in Dominican Republic the tax there is like 23%.
Any advice on cheap hotels who have a room safe??
Thanks,
Alew217
The hotels you mentioned charge $69 net a night, most prices will be quoted to you net so don't worry. If you do stay in Osu just be prepared to be hustled wherever you go, in my opinion there are better places to stay where you get a better experience rather than Osu where all tourists are seen as legitimate targets by all the flotsam that gravitates there from Nigerians, Ivorians and any others who want whats in your wallet. Enjoy.
I know this issue has been discussed here before, but I wonder if someone has recent info on visa regulations.
I would like to travel to Ghana in the beginning of December, but I have no chance to send my passport to the nearest embassy before that as I'm currently traveling Eastern Europe. I need my passport here weekly. Any recent info about chances to get visa on arrival at Accra airport?
I got an EU passport and the required proof of yellow fever vaccination. There is no Ghana consulate in my home country.
Hope to get some recent info, a report with pics will definitely follow if I ever get there.
Regards,
Jalle
Thanks Bloke, what other area's do you suggest I stay in? What hotels in that area? How much for a room with AC. I really am worried about security, I don't want to carry money around with me but I don't trust leaving it in the room either. I plan to book a room online for 3 or 4 days then search for a better deal when I am there. A room safe would be great!
I also read some people say I need my passport with me all times. I am not comfortable with this for the mear fact it could get lost or stolen, I hope a photocopy will do.

If you do not like to stay in Osu, go to Adabraka. In Niagara Hotel the room rate is about 50 USD: helpful staff, very girl friendly, first class restaurant (Lebanese), excellent security!
In terms of passports you can read about different experiences in this section! However, I was checked more than once during nighttime and the police officers always insisted in seeing the original document!

Look Guys, NEVER leave your Passport and valuables in a "room safe" while in Ghana as others will have access.
Around Awoshie area with my wife.
Wow, Erama (is that her name? and is she running a drinking spot named after the German capital?) has still a nice butt. If she is not the one, she could be her twin.
Enjoy

Enjoy yourself in Ghana. If time permit go to www.aximbech.com take a girl with you. No girls (very difficult) at that end of the world.
Its funny when I traveled to Philippines and Dominican Republic, I always got online and chatted with many girls trying to setup meetings before I got there. But once I was there rarely did I ever meet any of those ladies. I just trolled around town and usually found everything I needed.
Now I am going to Accra for 3 weeks, do you suggest trying to meet ladies online before or should I just beat the streets trolling as I did before??
I understand OSU is the area for clubs and bars where pro's hang out but really I prefer the sweet ladies who are not pro's and just want to fuck and make a little money on the side. Usually 3 or 4 times aday is plenty for me anyway LOL.
If anyone see's a guy with a light blue tint coming off the plane its probably me because "Viagra" I never leave home without it LOL
Thanks Alew

Alew:
Since virtually all girls you will meet in Ghana are available for you, there is absolutely no need to contact somebody prior to arrival!
Actually I tend to discourage you from searching such internet contacts as most cuties will ask you directly for sending some money - and this before you have entered into Ghana ("not too much, my love! A little money would be fine, dear! I only need 300 USD to pay the rent, my brothers school fee and my mom's medicine!")! So, better don't waste your time and save your money! IMHO, of course!

I have a complete agriement with Hesekiel.
Ghana is the country where to go with no address or phone number in own pockets and even trying to forget any eventual previous friendship - if one had been there before.
It is even useless to fit a date in the morning for the evening because in the elapsed time you will meet a dozen of new girls.
Me, I remember that I always arrived at 7-8 pm with a collection of 15 new phone numbers belonging to the girls I met during the day. In the while I was dialling the numbers in the evening, I always knew the flame for that night and to call the others was useless.
In Ghana I have learnt not to pick up any girls if I am not sure to be able to fuck them within 2 hours otherwise you risk to be overbooked, you risk an overfload!
What you can do is to divide the day into two rounds: morning turn and eve turn. Go out by day and find your lover for a "siesta" joint. Go out again in the evening for your "toda la noche" match!.
For the morning tour I find very interesting to pick up one of the numerous vendors - girls carring loads on their heads - when they have already sold the most of their goods. Buy the rest - it doesnt matter what - and invite her for a shower in your place.

Yes you can - when you enter immigration hall, don't line up - stay to the left glass wall and walk straight through - someone will stop you and ask you what you're doing and just say you need a visa on arrival. Turn an immediate left at the end of the glass wall and turn into the other side of the glass wall. Go to room 2, knock, and enter. Tell the man sitting there you need a visa on arrival and he will give you a form to fill. I can't remember if you need a passport picture so better bring one. The cost is $100 and you'll get an entry stamp with a handwritten number of days you're allowed to stay.
I am a part time translator for airport immigration when they catch people with fake documents so am very well versed in their process.
