There's a report on the Blok M website that one of the regular girls at Maribaya died recently, she contracted syphilis apparently and left it untreated.

Pretty bloody horrific for all concerned I should think, anyone got any more info like a name and when she was last seen in the place? Some of us might need to get check-ups!

Went to Malioboro Hotel and Spa on Monday for the first time, great place, glad I went, will definitely be back soon despite the confusing pricing scheme here.

Walked upstairs and into the main lounge, where two Chinese-Indonesian mamasans sat me down at a table. While I drank some Aqua, they explained what was available. One mamasan was clearly the high-end mamasan, she pointed out several Chinese girls (all decent looking), two Uzbek girls (no way!) and a Thai "model" who was 1.80 meters tall and looked like a lady boy who had recently had a sex change, all available for 1,500,000 rupiah. The other mamasan spoke great English, and described all of the options available, including the freelancers for 800,000 and other local girls.

I said I'd think about it, and walked over to the "theater" room, with the mamasan with great English following me. There were a few Chinese masseuses in there, all tired-looking and over 35 years old. Supposedly these ladies do massage plus HJ only, no FS. The mamasan then asked me to sit down in one of the large padded seats in the theater, sat down next to me, and said that she could offer me local girls for 350,000 rupiah for massage, blow job and sex all included, plus I could give the girl a tip if I wanted.

She called in 3 local girls, all of whom were just ok-looking and supposedly 18. I pointed out that they all looked bored and that I was more interested in good service, so the mamasan sent the 18 year olds away and called in a very cute 21 year old named "Salsa," promising guaranteed good service. Salsa spoke some English and looked like fun, so I said yes and off we went.

Salsa has a beautiful face, just so-so body, around 5 kg. overweight once her clothes came off, but great service, and I was very pleased with the session. Afterwards we walked back downstairs and she hinted about her tip, and I said "don't worry, I will tip you." We got back to the 2nd floor and I filled in a tip slip for 150,000 rupiah.

Back downstairs, showered and dressed, walked up front to pay, and found that my bill was 675,000 rupiah! I asked for the breakdown and was told, in addition to my tip of 150,000 rupiah, the standard charge was: 350,000 for the room + an additional charge for the girl of 175,000 rupiah.

I was not happy but decided not to make a fuss, as I plan on returning here soon. Luckily I had plenty of cash, otherwise I would have had to charge it.

So here's a warning for the future - get a better understanding of the pricing at this place up front! Despite that, I will be back here again soon.

P.S. One would never know it was Ramadan, this place is open, in full swing. Lots of customers, all Chinese except me.

inspired by all the posts on this thread, i decided that i, too, had to 'buka puasa' in so far as sexual abstinence was concerned.

i began with a visit to the beverly hills spa. although the address has been indicated as jl.lada, a better way to describe its location is to say that it is located behind the town hall on the same side of the road. i discovered this as i searched for the place having got off the trans-jakarta bus at kota. after surrendering my shoes at the reception and putting on the slippers provided, i proceeded to the changing room where i was given a gown and shorts and a locker for all my valuables. ushered inside, i chose the full-service with an indonesian cewek recommended by the girl at the counter who then took me to the third floor. the 'therapist' was slim and quite tall and provided good service. unfortunately, i have forgotten her name. after the masage and cbj, we went on to the main course. her cowgirl performance was so enthusiasitic that i ended sooner than i had intended. i had no other option but to extend the session. while the second encounter was long and sustained, at my age a second coming after half-an-hour was hardly to be expected! total damages worked out to around 1.2 juta, but then that was the penalty for allowing her to set the pace.

i followed this by visit to the alexis two days later. i must say that the alexis was imho much better than what the posts had led me to expect.after changing, i had a beer at the outside bar and then sauntered inside to look at the girls. it was around 3pm so there were around 10 indos and around 5 prcs and uzbekis each. since my budget was limited i decided on an indo and in any case i felt that 800k was value for money instead of the 1.5 juta for the so-called 'exotics'. helped my a fairly smart mamasan, i chose erna, a fair sundanese girl with small breasts but wonderful legs. we had a long session of massage, cbj, mish, doggy and reverse cowgirl. unfortunately, just as i was preparing for the last lap with a change to mish, i discovered that she had just begun her periods. while she was ready to finish with a bj, i felt that it was my right to come. so mamasan was called to resolve the dispute and while she agreed to provide another cewek, she suggested that i tip erna 300k. i agreed to it as erna's performance till the moment of discovery had been excellent and i didn't want to be bloody-minded and penalize her.

i took a break, lounged around the pools, and went into the sauna and steam room to recuperate and followed it up with a cold beer before going in for the next session. this time i chose rani (1121) a 18 yo from bandung with a pert face, slightly darker and a similar build but more pwerful thighs. she was here having joined the day before and had been working in a karaoke joint in bandung. i had a great session with her too. she was quite gfe, spoke more english than erna, but was a little hesitant in her services, i guess she was feeling her way around (quite literally!). after a 45 mins session, mainly mish and cowgirl, i decided to call it a day. i would recommend both the girls(8/10 in looks and service).

while paying, i discovered that i had been charged twice for the room , although the mamasan had told me that the management would only charge for one session. although i protested, i was told that since i had used it twice as per their policy i had to pay 200k for each time. i ended up paying 1.6 juta( this included 3 beers and 300k and 100k tips). may be i might have been better off chosing a prc, but one never knows.incidentally, just i was taking the lift up to the seventh floor i was accosted by a mamasan in the lobby with an offer of a new 'progam(?)' a prc for 1,.8 juta for one-hour-and-a-half but i declined saying that i would choose later.incidentally, there is also the issue of tipping that has been debated to a great extent in the posts. if you are paying such high prices should you really tip for the 'god' service that is a part already implied in the 'contract'. i didn't tip at the beverly and my own personal feeling is that unless the expereince is really extra-ordinary, one shouldn't have to tip. of course, the counter argument is that the money goes directly to the girl w.o any amont cut.but then she has willingly accepted the fact that she will have to pay the mamasan and the establishment when she has chosen to work there.

my general observation is that despite the slightly higher prices at alexis, it is an experience not to be missed. it has much more ambience that beverly although both are high-end spas. i am going to return and perhaps taste one of the exotics. so despite fears of having to go hungry over ramadan, i would that they were belied. in fact, when i asked rani her religion,she replied islam and when i further asked her if she was observing the fast, she laughed!

last observation- it's much better to take the transjakarta to both these places whenever you go, whether in th4e afternoon or the evening. besides saving money, you save time. it took me 40 mins to get to kota from plaza indonesia and only 25 mins back.given the macet, an ojek to alexis is the best way to go further from kota to the spa.

MS - You did get overcharged at Marioboro, those local girls are 350K all in. You should have called the mommy down to straighten that out. Also those 350K locals are mostly girls who rotate each between Marioboro and Travel Hotel where they are 285K. Tips are up to you as always but you can tip as you would in Travel.

Spice Lover -- I am wondering if all the CBJ you got at Alexis and Beverly Hills was your choice? At those prices, I would be pissed if I didn't have the choice for a BBBJ. Also, you have a real issue with them double charging you for the room. You bought a full service package and you girl got menstration, what the hell, they should make it right and you were very generous with your tip to that girl. That is probably as much as her share of the 800K fee. Once again the mommy says no room charge for the second girl, then have them call her to the front to fix the bill. I also agree with you that these package deals at the upper end don't require or usually end with a big tip on top of the fee. I will tip 'em 50K for an ok job and 100K for an excellent job. Once I tipped a girl 150K at Sumo who make sparks come out my ass and gave me the GFE wrapped in a PSE we all love but seldom get.

I went there some time ago with JAD and, I think, Patbutter or Artisto Ken. Like a number of other guests I ordered a fruit salad that was priced at Rp. 11.000,=
on the menu-card. Rather cheap for a place like this, I thought, maybe that's why all those other guests had a fruitsalad as well. The bill that was presented with the salad however, mentioned a price of Rp 40.000,=. I expressed my surprise and the WG that was with us said, that in the preceding days, a number of guests has already expressed their surprise as well.
I asked the headwaiter to explain the difference. It was a misprint in the new cards they received that day(!), he said. I told him that that was a lie and that guests, ordering a fruitsalad should be informed about the misprint when ordering it. He insisted however that I'd pay the 40K. I left the restaurant/bar without paying one rupiah! The surprise however, came when I returned the number, they gave when entering. There was a cover charge. I don't remember exactly what the amount was, but it was huge! If I'm not mistaken, it was like 140K per person. I haven't been there since!

Actually I do speak the language fairly well, in particular the numbers.

With most Indonesians, even when I am speaking in English, I always state or re-state a monetary price in bahasa Indonesian, just to avoid any innocent (or purposeful) confusion. For example, most Indonesians, indeed most Americans can easily mis-speak "fifteen" and "fifty," so I always use Indonesian to more easily hear the difference between "lima belas" (15) and "lima puluh" (50).

Being a foreigner was most likely the problem, as they probably figured that I'd just pay and not make a big fuss (correct!). But even my respected Indonesian friend Menteng was overcharged there, so maybe they try to rip off everyone here. If so, then maybe it's time for me to boycott Malioboro and try a different high-end spa next time.

Or, I could just take a rest and wait until late October when Cynthia returns to Kartika Spa :)

I was in the area and decided to stop by Malioboro this afternoon to follow up on being overcharged on Monday.

The young gal behind the counter remembered me with a smile, so I start to b-s with her in bahasa Indonesian in a friendly way about what had happened. She then called over her supervisor, who spoke excellent English.

The supervisor gave me this explanation: the normal charge is 350,000 rupiah, that's for a "massage" in one of the massage rooms on the 3rd floor. However, my "massage" was done on the 4th floor, where there are hotel rooms, thus the extra charge of 175,000 rupiah for the hotel room. She pointed out that the hotel rooms are nicer and have a television, while the 3rd floor massage rooms did not have a television, to which I responded that I did not come to Malioboro to watch TV (she smiled at this comment).

I asked why I had not been given a room on the 3rd floor, and her response was "the massage rooms on the 3rd floor are closed because of Ramadan, so we have to put everyone in the hotel rooms until after Ramadan is over, and charge the extra 175,000 for the hotel room."

I then asked if the extra room charge applied to the high-end Chinese/Thai/Uzbek girls and she said no, the 1,500,000 rupiah charge for those girls already includes the cost of the hotel room. I then asked "what about the free-lancers for 800,000 rupiah?" and she replied same, the room charge is already included in the fee.

Not sure whether to believe her or not. I guess the only way to find out is to wait until after Ramadan is over and then see if the lower price for the local girls is reinstated.

my opinion is :

Hotel management had to tell you first at that time, they had to achieve your agreement to move to 4th floor...if the 3rd floor room can not be used during ramadan. Customer is the king and 175,000 rupiahs is too much for that I think.

I believe if you had picked free-lancers for 800,000 rupiahs that time, they would have charged you with another 175,000 rupiahs or more.

When I was in Travel couple months ago, execution rooms were full and mamasan ordered the WG to open hotel room and I had a hotel room (this room was for transit hour with rate 150 k/per 6 hours), They did not overcharge me at all ! ( sorry I didn't promote Travel). I had that room for an hour.
FYI: Execution room and hotel room in travel have television.
