I wish Philippines had mandatory visa, and include a IQ test.
After reading the last few pages, I know why so many foreigners get killed in AC.
Well "next to nothing" means it will cost you "something" and that something is often more than you will pay if you stick with P4P.
DIA girls living in AC are usually bar girls or housemaids and are connected in some way to the bar scene, so as a self-admitted naive punter without any "game" you are going to waste a heap of time.
Thanks you are right, will probably stick to the P4P girls easer and more direct.
Chris
We were enquiring at the window with a money changer and was offered better rates, college girls etc and was literally taken for a ride to a secluded place and was robbed.
On all of my 60-70 trips to AC I have always used a money changer where I can go inside, so that nobody can see me with $100 notes or huge amounts of pesos in my hand. Never had a problem. And I don't care about a 5 or 10ps better rate in a open space and / or weird looking surrounding. Just not worth it.
Anyway, these days I have a peso current account in PI, so I can use the ATM's in a proper bank, no need money changers anymore.
So it didn't happen on Fields Avenue, as I suspected. You voluntarily got into a vehicle of someone who tricked you while standing on Fields and they then took you somewhere else to take care of business.
I don't want to say you deserved it, because no one really does, but there is a such thing as natural selection and thinning of the herd.
Common sense and keeping your wits about you are requirements of modern life, especially if you travel, whether that be to Harlem or Angeles City, or anywhere else.
In decades of traveling to dozens of countries, some MUCH worse than the Philippines, I have never once been in an incident like this. But then again, I would never get into a trike that called out to me (only take them when you specifically need one, with you choosing the trike) , ESPECIALLY in front of a money exchange, or with guys promising me "college girls" while standing on a street with 15, 000 girls 19-26 ready to be barfined. Where did you possibly think they could take you that would be "better"?
Never forget that you're walking around with 2-3 months wages for the average Filipino in your pockets, pissing it away like it means nothing. How do you really expect these people to relate to you?
Be careful.
I also have literally "decades of travelling to dozens of Countires", and this was also the very 1st time such a thing has ever happened to me. So, OK, you are smart, but don't be too cocky, mate, it can happen to you when you least expect it.
My friend and I definitely didn't deserve it, and we were not stupid. It's just that these scam artists are getting smarter by the day. On hind thoughts, of course we shouldn't have gotten into their trike, but att hat moment, when we had 2 uncoordinated minds (ours) working against their coordinated minds and rehearsed routine, and when we heard them speaking a bit of our language, and said they worked at the hotel we were staying in, our trusts started to develop.
We definitely learnt our lessons, as we kept telling ourselves, and would be even more vigilant in future. Don't know about my friend, but my greatest lesson is to avaojd AC like the plague!
I wish Philippines had mandatory visa, and include a iq test reading the last few pages I know why so many foreigners get killed in AC
So you think you are so smart, with such a high IQ that you would pass with flying colours for such a test to get your visa to the Philipines, eh? Those professional thieves will get you once day, simply because your aloftness would show off and attract the wolves.
We thought we were seasoned travellers, we thought we were being extremely vigilant, and yet after decades of travelling we finally met our match, and were 'robbed'. You could one day get the same or similar experience anywhere anytime when you least expect it, but AC is to my experience more likely to be the place for any cocky traveller to fall for these con artists.
We just want to relate our experience so other members can be even more careful and learn from our mistake. We certainly didn't invite any insult to our intelligence from other members!
Probably will have to, but I was wanting to give a DIA girl a shot hoping to get some Pussy for next to nothing if it isn't to difficult.
Chris
Once had a DIA girl stayed with me in AC. Although I asked her to come to Manila she wanted to see what AC was like. We stayed together for 4 days. While the sex was good she did not like the bars and commented about why so many girls worked there what she thought was a demeaning profession. I guess it is hard for her to fathom how poor girls have no choice. She was not free. I gave her some money + drinks + food + gifts probably cost me more than if I bar fined each night.
Like somebody said why take sand to the beach?
With DIA girls I had a better time in Manila, Cebu, Leyte etc.

Never been bothered. Stay alert and man up and you'll be okay.
Don't really know what you mean about the ATMs. Have US and Hong Kong bank accounts, always able to pull pesos out of ATMs in the Philippines without a problem. Am I missing something?

OK rule number one when traveling to the Philippines 1. NEVER EVER EVER NEVER talk too, deal with, or even acknowledge a MALE Filipino person. On the streets The only time I ever deal with a MALE in the PHILIPPINES is checking into the hotel (MAYBE). Getting a ride on a Jeepney (Never ever take a trike) or maybe a waiter at a restaurant. Other then that I avoid them like they are going to kill me.
when we heard them speaking a bit of our language, and said they worked at the hotel we were staying in, our trusts started to develop.!
This "I work in your hotel" scam happens in many parts of the world, even in "civilised" Barcelona, in Spain.
I will be in AC in about ten days and just started chatting on DIA yesterday. Many of them seem like normal girls looking for a relationship. Is it easy to score with them when you meet them. Its been decades since I've had anything but a P4P girl and don't have the faintest ideal on how to get into the pants of a regular girl. My usual approach is to exchange some pleasantry. Tell them how pretty they are ask where they are from, tell them where I am from and then ask how much for sex and what they will do. I suppose this won't work with a DIA girl.
Chris
DIA is just part of the P4P mix. There are genuine girls on there looking for a foreign husband. Also plenty of girls whom want to meet foreigners when they are visiting and just make some PHP.
The girls I have met through dating sites I have always had sexual success with. While these girls have not outright asked for money, it is an expectation. Whether you phrase that money as taxi fare, study money whatever the girl is comfortable with.
One of my friends in Cebu has 700 male foreigner contacts. Pretty sure I'm not her only bf.
I usually meet at a mall near my hotel, buy them dinner or coffee or smoothie or something. Then I suggest I have some work to do in my room and / or going to watch a movie. They usually happy to join.
There are many wonderful and unique ladies in Ph. Treat them well and you will have a wonderful time.
AC Hotel
Orchid Inn is getting a bit run down. Had to have the tv replaced, and the toilet keeps running.
Galaxy, relatively new place that I reviewed many months ago. Love the mirror placement. Korean run which has it's positives and negatives. THe noise is a problem. The hotel is a concrete box with a pool in the center. The noise is amplifed.
America Hotel has a new facade. I wonder if they've made those front rooms any quieter? A gal in Emotion told me that one of their girls died in the hotel recently. The foreigner checked out early and they found the girl later, she said. This doesn't make sense to me as they usually inspect the room when you check out. Does anyone have any info about this? This hotel has a lot of bad luck. There is a ghost rumor (gal was murdered back in the USAF days) , once there was an organized lobby hold up, and now another apparent death.
FOOD.
I like Angel's bakery next to Pony Tails. I stopped in for breakfast and noticed a steady stream of expat types coming in for baked goods. So I bought some fruit cake and it was delicious. I had a nice meal in Swiss chalet. At the Tequila Cantina, there is a waitress that speaks excellent English with an American accent. She's interesting. Talk to here if you get a chance. She'll shake a marguarita for you. LOL.
DUH.
Guy in a bar overjoyed that some gal underestimated his age by five years. Duh, doesn't he realize that when they guess ages they subtract ten years to be on the safe side. Newbie.
TRANSPORTATION.
So far I've only taken the tricycle once. Damn, I hate those guys. In advance, I confirmed with my date that the price was 50. I paid 50 and they guy wanted 70. I walked away. Another trike driver comes up and they have a loud conversation. But that is as far as it went. I think they are trying to scare people into paying more, or just trying to provoke someone.

I've taken trikes from fields to places miles away. No issues.
As is the case anywhere else, keep your wits about you and be a man and you should have few if any problems. Filipino guys are like any other guys. Yes there are scammers in AC. That's a result of the old military base and foreigners walking around with 3 months pay in their pants pocket. It still isn't so bad. Go walk around Bedstuy Brookyln, Southside Chicago or Charlestown Boston with 3 months wages sticking out of your pants and let me know how it works out.

He then put the suitcase under the bed (actually possible if it's anything like Lewis Grand, you could slide a motorcycle sideways under those damn things) and left. He had a do no disturb sign on the door. It wasn't until 3 days later when it was time for him to check out that the maids entered the room. That's when they discovered the bag and the body.
Have no ides if it's true, but that's what they tell me. This is why many girls won't go with Koreans or to the America.
Guy in a bar overjoyed that some gal underestimated his age by five years. Duh, doesn't he realize that when they guess ages they subtract ten years to be on the safe side. Newbie.
I don't think they're all that sophisticated. These aren't Thai bargirls. A lot of them are fresh in from the provinces. And they're not so good at aging westerners. I've had them guess my age 12 years higher than it is, and 10 years lower than it is.
Have you just landed today on ISG and coming from Mars? DIA has been widely discussed every second page.
I did a search and nothing came up. You don't have to be a dxxk about it.
