Bangkok Hotels

I spent a couple of nights at the new, modern CitiChic Hotel last week. It was a nice place. Bed was very comfortable, big flat screen TV, restaurant was good, friendly staff, etc. No issues really except the construction (finish work) is a bit slipshod.

I was with my part-time P4P/ part time "gik" and as we checked in together there were no issues. I've read that it is GF friendly. Have to see next time, maybe. There were a lot of cute Japanese women staying there. Hmmm, maybe I need a change of pace from the Thai ladies?

The hotel is a ways down Sukhumvit Soi 13. But there was no problem catching taxis to wherever, or MB taxis to the BTS. The walk was easy, too, as this is not a particularly busy soi. A little exercise never hurts this big farang.

I booked on asiaroomsdotcom, so it all was fairly painless (about $86us a night for ground floor room with nice outdoor deck. See pic). I'll stay there again if I need to be in this part of town. Over and out.

Anyone know if this is a gf hotel (as in no joiner fees & shit)?

Continuing on the Post from the Bangkok Thread, as I said earlier, my Friend owns a 5 star hotel in Bangkok and told me they make over 3 Million THB from Joiner fees alone.

Their clientele is 95% Japanese and even though he charges an outrageous 1,500 thb per joiner, he tells me quite a number of Japanese guests show up with 2, 3 or 4 ladies.

Giotto, I know this is very tempting, but he started it because he did not want the "Prostitutes" wandering around his hotel to be seen by non mongering couples. He set that Joiner fee very high but it did not stop people from bringing in girls, actually, the only difference is that his Revenue increased. and imagine the Flowthrough ( on 3 Mil. Thb Revenue!

Thanks[/QUOTE]This is a great hotel, in my opinion one of the nicest in BKK. Not very convenient for NEP, etc, but lovely internal setting, with park, gardens, etc.

I used to stay there with the GF, and there was never a suggestion of joiner fees, etc, even when she joined me after I had booked in. The entrance hall is very wide, so there is no sense of having to walk past the duty manager, and it is sufficiently upmarket that it may not worry about such things? Having said that, I would be cautious about bringing a very obvious Nana carpark girl in.

All the staff were always unfailingly polite and helpful.

Would stay there all the time but now I have to pay the bill myself rather than my company...

Just booked for my first trip to Bangkok and Phuket. Staying 2 nights in the Holiday INN off sukhumvit Rd. Have done a search but couldn't find anything on this hotel.

I'm travelling with the wife and am wondering if the hotel is GF for us both to enjoy the delights of Thailand? (and yes, I know I'm a lucky man with a bi wife but shes even luckier to have me

Holiday Inn is not GF.
I am a simillarly lucky guy, we are in Phuket soon for a break but have covered our options in BKK by booking a suite at Giotto's. Its both cheaper and gauranteed GF!

The question was raised here some weeks ago, whether the Taipan hotel in Soi 23 is girl friendly or not.

I had a meeting with the marketing manager from there, and his clear answer was: Taipan is girl friendly, no joiner fees.

A guest who had stayed there before and changed then to our hotel confirmed, that he never had any problems to bring girls in there.

Second time in Adelphi Suites on Soi 8. First visit was Jan for two weeks and now I just checked in, well kind of checked in, for two weeks again. I left about 40 days ago and I'm back again even though I had some issues with my last stay. Work is booking the apartments so it's hard to get them to switch places. Anyways after getting to the property at 2 pm and I had a 3 pm meeting I was advised that they allowed the current guest to stay in my room until 6 pm as they have a late flight and that I will have to wait in the lobby until about 7 pm to get into my room; however it is fully paid in advance and there is nothing they will do about it and they knew I was coming and specifically requested about the only non smoking apartment they have.

After a few fights with the day manager, and yes normally I keep my anger under check but this time I blew up, they put me in a studio for a few hours so I could shower and change before my meeting. But I'm sitting here in a studio, unable to unpack or get settled, waiting for the apartment to be ready because they let a guest stay late. Have to go grab the GF in a few hours and not even sure where I will be bringing her back to.

Yes this place is new... yes this place might be a great location for mongers (soi 8) but their mentality level and service level sucks. And they are 100% monger friendly with condoms in the mini bar. Flavored ones at that.

I think that first night is gratis...or a "walk" is in order. Hopefully you have set up this transaction so it is possible to get out of there with only paying for the first night. Service like this is totally unacceptable....anywhere. I had a similar incident at the Hilton Apollo in Amsterdam.....I was sitting in the lobby waiting for my room after a long flight from Singapore....they offered me a drink as compensation. They just could not get it together...and after 3 hours I told them I was cancelling and would find another hotel. They got the room ready then. I saw the manager the next day...he offered the first night gratis and a dinner...this was a nice offer so I discontinued the bitching. You should not stand for this...especially in a smaller hotel where customer contact and recognition are very important to business. The big "however" is that with Thai style....an "up to you" might be offered and you might have to leave. If you have the time to play with this...I would leave.
