Hello,

I need some advice. I am going to Cuba again in December. I am tired of going to Havana and the regular spots. I am looking for something smaller that has nice CHEAPER girls. The prices in the city are getting to be too much.

I do like white girls in ares like Holguin and Villa Clara.

Any suggestions?

If anyone needs general travel advice I have been there abouit 8 times.

I find Santiago and surrounding areas much better for mongering than Havana, but if you are exclusive to white girls you wouldn't like it. Too bad, the girls of Oriente are so much nicer and eager to please than Habaneras.

Brent, price really varies, and I haven't been to Santiago in a couple of years so I can't give you exact numbers as I don't know. I do know that in general they are less cutthroat and businesslike than in Havana, and overall cheaper, often much cheaper. Exact prices depends a lot on your attitude and your spanish speaking ability. If you're marked for a newbie tourist you'll pay premium. Just be able to walk away, there's always more right around the corner.

While this happens in Havana too, in Santiago there's more of the girlfriend thing, whereby they don't ask a specific price and just expect you to buy dinner, maybe a gift or two, and maybe (but not necessarily) give them a few bucks to take home. Some have even gotten insulted when I discussed paying them for sex.

I suggest you to try Cienfuegos who has most chica blancas in Cuba (Lonely Planet).

Two other relaxing places are la Isla (de la Juventud) and Baracoa where you can find many freebies.

Anyone been to Guantanamo lately, more specific, the towns of Jamaica and Manuel Tames?

Guantanamo is probably as dissimilar to the other sections of Cuba you will find.

There are problems in quantities of food, clothes and other consumer goods.

Her thoughts will be feeding herself and buying clothes with the money you left after you leave.

There are not many tourists who have ventured into the rural area north of G'mo. I know some Habaneros who go there for cheap recreation.

I had a Guantanamera girlfriend. It is definitely NOT a tourist town, and you will see very few white people there. It's pretty run down and the most 3rd world of any of the Cuban cities. The people are very friendly and the girls incredibly hot. Some of the people there were concerned for my safety, but I never saw or encountered anything sketchy.

Anyone have information about activity and adresses in Cayo Mambi (Holguin), Baracoa and Guantanamo?

I will be there next week.

Don't marry them or bring them out though.

She is Cuban. Therefore, assume she has a boyfriend, husband or both or even several foreign "love" interests besides yourself. Don't be a sap and accept fact it's only sex. You cannot have a serious relationship with a Cuban woman because to them foreigners are just easy marks to be fleeced. And even if you had the misfortune of getting her out of the country, she would ditch you for the first guy offering a better deal. I remember asking a jinitera once if she had a boyfriend. She replied: "todas tenemos novios." Cubans do not go without steady sex. It's the only thing Fidel cannot control. She tells you what you want to hear out of economic necessity. You're in a bad part of town. Get out quickly.

Arecho66, well put, sad but true. I've been to Cuba over ten times, and I've learned the hard way. But for Christ's sake, Solo, you haven't even met her? Come on man! Anyway, good of you to ask for advice. It has been my experience too that all Cubans have boyfriends/girlfriends and a steady diet of sex. It would do a visitor well to keep that in mind no matter what you may want to believe. And I'm no cynic, but the fact is also that their primary motivation for being with you is money. This doesn't mean they don't like you, but money is the bottom line for them. That, and possibly getting out of Cuba (so they can make some real money themselves). Enjoy, but don't get serious. Just my 2 cents.

A Cuban rides a tourist to get them whatever they want: booze, sex, cigar & drugs, for a tip.

If you don't speak or understand Spanish, Cuba is the wrong place to set out on your search party. Few speak English, but you would be seriously limiting your market.

Cuba is a very difficult location is establish the type of relationship you're looking for.

I don't understand how some guys can be smart and successful in business, but be so dense when it comes to relationships.

I know a Spanish guy doing business in Cuba. He met a Cubana and she has taken him for a ride. She's tucking cash away for the day when she may book. He doesn't see it and is oblivious to the situation. She's an opportunist, ripping him off. She doesn't love him, she placates him.

She gone from street-walking jinetera with a retail job, to his banker. That's one situation, I know many guys that have taken a stab at jinetera conversions.

The predesesor to the jinetera was the fletera. A fletera used to wait for ships to dock at the port, and for the sailors at Dos Hermanos.

All a Cubana can think of when they are with a foreigner, is how much more they can get out of them. Difficult parameters for a relationship. Easier with a Cuban guy who has considerably less. They think you owe them a living, and her mom, dad, sister, brother, prima, ect.

It's a bad deal and you're out of your mind, with continued consideration of a desired Cubana-wife situation.
