I have been there 3 times, all 3 times I have been there solo. I sometimes I just want a good "high end" meal.
Looks good big homie! But I bet you thought you were back in Cali when they bought the check! LOL. I'll keep it in my notes in case I ever have a stunner I want to impress. Thanks!
No prices on their website, I guess they don't want to scare away potential customers. LOL! The chef there does a good job. The atmosphere can be a little noisy on the weekends but that is true for almost anyplace in Santo Domingo. It's not a good choice to bring street girls. They prefer the ham and cheese sandwich anyway. LOL.

You will not see hood rats there. The parking lot if full of SUV and nice cars. Again this isn't a every day spot. I go there towards the end of my trips if I didn't spend too much.

To each their own. If you want to spend more on her meal than the price of her pussy! Its their money, do it up. LOL.
Got to love RD most time a pussy is more expensive than pussy.

I find DR food unsophisticated and great at killing the natural flavors of fish and seafood by overcooking it. They don't trim the meat in stews and desserts are an abomination. Other than a moro de gandules I don't find anything worth having it.

In SD
First day / night in SD and not sure how I feel about it all LOL. Landed at SDQ and got searched by the drug police? WTF maybe because I had my bags locked up but that shit had me nervous for a min LOL. Maybe the suitcase smelled like weed because I smoked before leaving Cali and we got that strong haha who knows but no drugs so I'm out of there. My tagged amiga is outside waiting which is good I asked her to meet me so I had a translator I speak a little more than a little Spanish but needed the extra help. I'm staying at BQ Santo Domingo and was no problem coming up with the girl. She was with me at registration and they asked nothing about her I was told it was $20 night per person so I fully expect it on the bill when check out but long as no question asked I cool with it. Ate at a little "Mexican" restaurant by BQ and it was hardly Mexican food LOL. I'm from northern Cali and we got too many taquerias and only thing I recognized was carnitas which I ordered which came with frijoles why corn tortillas Over all it was a cool night she did her job, think she tried to pull a fast one but I'm from Cali and we sweat beezys we don't get sweated. Had to play like I was mad she hadn't gotten money yet so she got right. Real quick LOL She left early this morning which is perfect because another one coming from Santiago also from Tagged. She talk more Nasty so hope the action is mo nasty.

If you can't find a good place eat your not going to the right types of places.
BTW, a baked 3 cheese truffled mac & cheese, medium-rare 13 oz rib eye, fritos with a light mojo dipping sauce and all executed properly, what is unsophisticated about that? O.
There are plenty of fine dining option in santo domingo:
My go to burger place is max's 50 - https://www.facebook.com/max50fifty.
I talked about sophias but if you want to go a more tourist-ish place go to pate palo -http://www.patepalo.com/.
There a ton of italian places. My favorite is la lasgna.
I agree about your assessment for the small 'cafeteria' type of places but you pay for you get. I don't know where you do in santo domingo or where you hangout but saying that there is nothing worth eating in RD is extreme.

Probably the steak was imported since beef in general it is not that great. Of course you can have a nice meal in a French, Italian, Spanish. Restaurants and I had but I stand by my assessment of local food and produce as it is consumed around the country and not just in a small area of the Capital.

You got searched because you came in from Colombia. It was nothing personal. LOL! I look forward to reading about the rest of your adventures.
Probably the steak was imported since beef in general it is not that great. .
The problem with dominican beef is that it mostly come from 100% natural grass feed cows, it lacks the antibiotics, hormones and other ingredients that makes imported beef so juicy. They come from cows that's walks freely on pasture land so they have more toned bodies than exported cows. This meat can be delicious if properly prepared. A year ago I bought a pound of local beefsteak because my girl wanted to have dinner at her house. Her mom made a very delicious beef with mangú(mangú is an anglicism of MAN this is GOOD). I ate her daughter as a dessert (ate her daughter means le comí el toto y se lo llené de leche).

Specifically he said he's from "North Cali", like Silicon or Napa Valley where they are indeed famous for "sweating beezys".
Since we're on the topic of food, I'll chime in with my 2 pesos. The best meal I've had in the DR was from this hole-in-the-wall joint. Item #6 on the menu was my favorite. I couldn't stop going back for more. I was hooked. (Oh, and I'm not going to give out the location of the place because I don't want you guys start bringing hoodrats and ruin this fine establishment. Trusted senior members can PM me, however.)
