Hi Guys.
This is the first time I have posted on the Angeles City forum. I am looking at hitting Angeles City some time this year and I am just looking for advice. What is the main airport to fly into to get to Angeles City? Also what is the best route to take to get there from the UK? I am looking at spending a week in Angeles City then hitting Bangkok for a week. Would be grateful for any help someone can give.

Looks like its an international flight for you, so NAIA is the only choice right now. You will be flying into Manila, but its only short drive to AC. You can arrange a pickup through your hotel or secondary service. Depending on time of day (traffic) it could take 1. 5 to 3 hours drive. If you would like to fly you can fly into Clark airport which is 5 minutes outside of AC. There are flights in and out of Clark to Bankok. A flight to Clark from Manila I do not know as I have never done that. There is however a helicopter service (did that) cost about 300US for the private charter.
Whoo whoo woooo down! Private helicopter service from MNL-Clark? WTF are you drinking mate? IMO very Trump-like advice, much better to book a flight on the Red Bull Stratos balloon and jump from 128000 ft like Felix did, meaning you can land in time for tea and a roll in the hay with a BG or three. Sky rockets in flight, afternoon delight mate.
Booking private helocopter rides is so passe in the Philippines. Besides WR already has most of the helicopter fleet on 24hr standby for a quick jaunt with the peach to my private island in Palawan.
Some questionable advice IMO, but to each there own. Personally if departing the UK I would book a direct flight LHR-BKK with BA, Qantas, Virgin or any of the other carriers. Lots to choose from. Spend 4 days in BKK and book a direct BKK-Clark flight and spend a week in AC. Return to BKK and spend your final 3 days before departing for the UK.
Forget about connecting flights, forget about flying into MNL, forget about booking a helicopter or any of that bola.
SB, you should put in some time and RTFF if you are serious about visiting SEA for pussy. While I applaud you for being honest about not even knowning what airport is closest to AC it's also a sign that you almost booked a helicopter ride when a stratos balloon would do.

Europe / BKK / AC is a great way to go. But it is not bola to consider suggestion #2. Europe / Manila / AC. This is a great 100% Filipina way to go and makes a lot of logistical sense. While Manila is not as nice a travel destination as BKK on many counts. Food, cultural stuff, hotel prices, transportation, safety: Manila is still very good city for hooking up with super friendly English speaking Filipinas and getting a taste of their GFE. Manila girls are great. And if AC is the eventual destination target of the trip, Manila is the easier way to get to AC. Why wait through the lines at Suvarnabhumi Airport just to travel to AC? That is fucking around 4x in an international airport compared to 2x if you fly straight into Manila. From Ninoy Aquino International you can order an AC hotel car to pick up and take you straight to AC or you can spend a few nights in Manila and travel to AC at your convenience. You can also just take the bus. It usually takes 2 hours to travel by car from MNL to AC. On your return you again have the option of skipping Manila completely and going straight from AC to the airport or spending a few days in Manila. Metro Manila is actually many cities. You can stay in Makati or Ermita / Malate. They are very different. Both have a very healthy nightlife.
The choice is up to you. My point is there is no wrong way to do this. Europe / BKK (and if you have the time Pattaya too) /AC makes a very good trip. But so does Europe / Manila / AC (and if you have the time Subic too). I know guys who have never set foot in Thailand and they are totally happy with punting exclusively in the PI. I know guys, I used to be one of them, who have never set foot in the PI and are totally happy punting in LOS. That reminds me; suggestion #3. Europe – BKK – Pattaya, a 100% LOS trip. Tough choices. No wrong way to go.

HSBC Premier
Ekspat.
Like Tiger 888, I am HSBC Premier Hong Kong. Is yours Philippines? Maybe that's why I am charged fees.
I've exactly the same and there is no need for HSBC ATM. Take any other ATM (BPI, BDO etc) and you won't be charged. If you're on Premier status the fee is waived by the bank. At least it works for me in that way.

Like Tiger 888, I am HSBC Premier Hong Kong. Is yours Philippines? Maybe that's why I am charged fees.
Possible indeed. Yes, this account is in PI and the card was issued in Makati.
there is no more PLUS logo but now Unionpay. If the ATMs have no Union Pay
You're right, PLUS is gone, but my HK card has got CIRRUS now. Widely available as well, isn't it? Anyway, these days I hardly use the HK issued card. And Cambo isn't high on the list of my preferred destinations.
Cheers!

Cheers
If you are flying from UK then you have 2 choices;
1) Fly with a national carrier to Manila and get a taxi to AC.
2) Fly with a national carrier to one of the other asian capitals and then get a low cost airline to Clark.
Given that you want to go onto BKK, the logical answer is get a return flight to BKK and then a low cost carrier from BKK to Clark.
PS. I though $300 for the helicopter was good value for money.

Just one more question, do you know what low cost carriers do the BKK to Clark route?

I agree with previous posters Europe-BKK is a better route than to Manila. More route choices, usually better prices and Bangkok is a better, very modern airport. I have transferred through Manila and Bangkok a couple of times and prefer Bangkok. Hong Kong could also be a third alternative, a good modern airport with lots of connections o Europe and cheap direct low cost connection to Bangkok, Clark and Cebu. Hong Kong is not that good for mongering but great for a few days of food, shopping, luxury.

Don't know when you are planning on booking the flight, but if you keep an eye on the HUKD site, they often have links to cheap flights.

HUKD site?
I am looking to do the same thing from the US.
Can someone please explain what the HUKD site is?

Low Cost Airlines
Don't foget to consider Air Asia too.
I have taken these 3 budget airlines many times. They are about the same. The things you need to look for in deciding which one to take:
1. Price: They all have promotion prices which is very cheap. However, I can never understand how these prices are posted. For example, a promotion price for a certain date will be available if you book early, then may not be available for a month or so, then suddenly is available again. Perhaps the sale of tickets for that date did not do well.
2. Schedule: They fly the same routes but at different times. If you are only transiting in Bangkok, KL, or whatever city, you don't want to spend half a day in the airport waiting for the next flight. However, do not book the connecting flight too close in time to the preciding flight. If that flight is delayed and you miss your connection, you are screwed. I always give 4-5 hours. Most planes are delays for 2-3 hours.
Good luck.
...Don't foget to consider Air Asia too.
Be aware that Airasia does not fly to BKK but to DMK instead.
Air asia and cebu pacific also fly this route
Air Asia does NOT fly BKK-CLK direct, it's via Kuala Lumpur.
Be aware that Airasia does not fly to BKK but to DMK instead.
DMK is BKK as well, but the old Don Muang Airport.
Cheers!
DMK is BKK as well, but the old Don Muang Airport.Cheers!
Do not get confused.
BKK Is the aviation abbreviation for new airport of Bangkok, ie Suvarnabhumi.
DMX Is the aviation abbreviation for the old airport of Bangkok, ie Don Muang.
Simply people refer to Bangkok as BKK as a town, but not in "airport terms".
So one cannot say DMX is BKK LOL
Something is the nick and abbreviation of the town, something else is the official aviation abbreviation.
