They provoke thought and discussion. It's all healthy for the forum. Sometime's they assume the " Devil's advocate" role to just get a topic going. It's beneficial for me because I have to look up word's they say, just to learn.

Both tempoecorto and I try to write in a manner that is as clear as possible so that anyone can understand it, even if English is not their first language. For tempoecorto English is not his first language, and if I was to write in the dialect of my childhood, it would be very hard for anyone here to understand what I was saying. I think both of us do write in a common sense manner. But look, Gogo, if you are a native speaker of English, you appear to have no more than an elementary school education (as your post quoted here shows you do not yet know how to use apostrophes in English-or you just use them in what seems to you a common sense manner) , so obviously some common English words that only appear in books read by adults will be strange to you. That is not really our fault, and as you say, you can refer to a dictionary, which is exactly what tempoecorto had to do when he was learning English.

One test of whether an account is clearly written is whether you can paste the English text into Google Translate, translate into Spanish, and it comes out making sense in logical Spanish.

Tomjackin's account of his recent trip was extremely entertaining, but to make any account entertaining, it requires a certain amount of artistry, editing, and thought, which Tomjackin has shown in considerable quantities. Tomjackin and I have exchanged PMs regarding some of the content and he has referred other people to me for contact information on some of his photographic models, so I know that he was carefully planning what to include and exclude in his report, not just writing the first thing that came into his head.

I don't think my posts are hard to understand and I receive a frequent PM's from newbies who don't post on the board asking for further information, and DR newbies are the people who I regard as my primary intended audience. They don't seem to have trouble understanding what I write.

If I appear argumentative with board regulars at times, it is usually because I think people are posting things that are misleading for newbies, for example "unliking" a particular hotel, because the poster once met someone who had problems getting maintenance items fixed there, even though the poster had never been in the hotel. There are dozens of hotels in Sosua, and to read the regulars you would think that New Garden, Europa, and Rocky's were the only choices, and this is far from the truth, so people need to be given accurate information so they can make their own decisions.

Your" over educated" ass, lack's the common sense to realize when you are even being paid a compliment. But sense we are in the mode to insult other's let me say this without apostrophes. Most members here with basic common sense wouldn't marry a Dominican chica and then spend most of their time in Sosua fucking 500 peso Haitians in massage parlor's. She played your"gulible',"lack of common sense" ass. She got her visa that you payed for, you bought her everything like a sucker, then you found out she was fucking the Dominican that she told you was her brother. Now you are bitter and trolling in Sosua trying to act intelligent. Now go put your head back in a book a and spend your life in front of the computer waiting for someone to post so you can leave your standard eight page reply.

About me, I went directly in the Navy after high school. I actually hated school and used it as a playground and fun spot. Add to the fact that I was very independent and didn't like being told what to do. Now I have to back track to catch up on thing's I should have been paying attention to, education wise. I have said many time's before that my grammar needs improvement, but most people don't have a problem with this. Also as I explained before to you, I think the context of a report is more important than perfect english. Because if someone is transfering honest, fresh thoughts, it appears genuine to me. And just so you know, my spell check is highlighted many times in this post but I don't care to go correct them because I'm not going to proof read this post. Plus most of my point's here will fly over your head because common sense doesn't apply to you.

I almost spit my fruitloops all over the kitchen when I read that, hahaha. Like you said, everybody needs to loosen up a little here, myself included.

I went back and counted, the last 18 posts do not mention Sosua or chicas. There must be a forum for this discussion but I think the majority would agree it is not here.

Foreword:

I want to preface this report by stating this a combined trip report for not only myself, but for the one any only Deepmmpactt aka El Caballo Negro aka Bob Marley aka Mr Sosua.

It had been two years since I last visited the DR, so leading up to the trip I was filled with not only excitement but also a bit of angst, as I have read periodically on this forum about how the "crackdown" had changed things and the "old Sosua" was nothing but a distant memory, and how according to some it was no point in going back to Sosua. Despite some of the negativity and pessimism, I was still excited and ready to see just how much things had changed.

Unlike many of you who reside on the East Coast, whenever Deep and I go to the DR it is truly a journey as we travel all the way from the Pacific Northwest and lose two total days traveling, so when we go it's for generally for a week. This was my fifth and Deep's eighth trip to the DR in the last four years, and it was without question from the very beginning the most adventurous and the most memorable. We both left our respective homes on April 3rd and went to the airport (Seattle for me, Portland for Deep). Due to the thunderstorms in Dallas our original flights were canceled, which had me in a foul mood. Thankfully, I was re-routed on a non-stop Alaska Airlines flight to Miami, and Deep was re-routed on a United flight to Chicago which ultimately got him to Miami as well. After a day of traveling, it was now April 4th and I was in my seat ready for the plane to take off and land in POP. While in Chicago, United made Deep check his carry-on bag so he nearly missed the Miami flight, but thanks to guy at MIA he was whisked through the long lines and he made it just in time. We're now both in our seats, plane takes off and 1hr 45 mins later we are in POP.
