What do you think about the risks of getting Covid (the variants) and getting really sick when going to Sao Paulo now after two doses of Pfizer vaccine one months ago?

I really want to go to Sao Paulo, but I am concerned to get covid variants. Another small concern is how to get food next two weeks when there.

Your advises would be much appreciated.

They took serum from 15 of your fellow vaccinees, and showed that the neutralization of the P. 1 variant was about the same as for your domestic strains of the virus. This is as good as one can hope for in such an experiment, but no guarantee by any means. It is true that lots of people do get re-infected in Brazil with P. 1, but we know that the immune response from vaccination is usually much better than the one you get from natural infection.

Since you ask for advice: go somewhere else. There are plenty of ways to fall ill besides COVID-19, and right now is not a good time to be dependent on a hospital bed in Brazil. Plus, chances are that everything will be shut down by the time you get there (assuming they will let you into the country in the first place). In case you didn't pay attention, Brazil set a national record yesterday with more than 100,000 new cases reported.

I am thinking, on the other hand, it'd be a good time to go such as it looks the entire airplane from US to SAO only has a few people, and you can sleep on the airplane the entire night. Also, it seems indeed there are a lot of girls available and you get to choose (now it's buyer's market).

Her friend in her 20's died. So younger people getting infected and dying.

The other problem is even you go the vaccine you can still test positive and which case you could not get back to your original country for at least a week since the US requires 2 negative tests if tested positive.

Lockdown is until April 5 in SP but will most likely be extended.

Given their age and the current state of vaccine distribution, it is probably safe to assume that those girls had not been vaccinated when they got re-infected.

Maybe common senses prevailed at the end. At the last minute (two hours before my flight), I canceled my trip. It feels really bad now that I did not make the trip after much preparation, waiting, changing flights, booking hotels, covid test, etc. Etc. I canceled the day before because the writing was on the wall. A few days after that, they suspended all international travel. No idea how I would have made it home from Europe. As XXL says, it is not inconceivable that flights from Brazil to the US could be affected in the near future as well.

I booked my trip for mid September and put it a rescue string for shifting my date by 60 days for just 200 $ penalty. So its safe water. Besides I speculate I am vaccinated by the time. My only issue is to find and book a girl willing to stay with me for long term, like 2-4 weeks. I wonder how much she would ask.

This may be my last trip report, 555, because I am flying to Rio in a couple of days. Yeah, I know about the P1 Variant, the nightclub shutdowns and all that shit and I won't say I am happy about these current events, but I am still going, because #1. I have been vaccinated with 95% proof Moderna, and I think the odds are in my favor, and #2. I am just not going to let another year slip by doing nothing. 2020 was a total write off for me and I know I will never get that year back. Meanwhile I had 2 Thailand / Jakarta trips canceled in 2020 and there is still no end in sight for a Thai re-opening in 2021 although the Thai Government is now talking about opening designated "sand lot" locations to vaccinated foreigners in the summer, but it is still just talk talk now. Meanwhile Brazil is suffering from a new Corona variant surge. When will the present crises in Brazil end and herd immunity set in is anyone's guess? Will the trouble be over by July? October? By January 2022/ January 2023/ January 2024? The answer is we don't know because there might be another rampant variant after P1 and another variant after that one ect ect? This pandemic might never go away completely.

So, no more waiting for me. Life is for living and for the taking of some risks. I am going! BTW, I am not expecting Rio or Sao Paulo to be anywhere close to what those towns were like pre pandemic. Even if the current closures are lifted, I know it ain't going to be like April 2019. And I am bar guy too, so it will be a drag for me if the termas and boates do not reopen on the 5th, but the hell with it, the bottom line is I won't let any of it deter me any longer. There are a ton of girls available out there, and I know where to find them and what to do with them. So, I know I am going to have a good time in Brazil in April / May 2021. Hi Ho!
