Being in the biz (Computer, not data recovery) Data recovery is VERY expensive.
If you don't hear a clicking or grinding sound, I'd try switching the cases. If you do hear those noises, then you will have to go to a data recover place. Watch your wallet, its more expensive than burgos.

My HD crashed a few months ago. Just a normal laptop. I paid US$ 3,500 to get the data back. Ouch.

Unless the drive is encrypted with something like Twofish/Serpent cascaded with SHA-512 hash..then not even the NSA will get it =)

I think you may be mistaken about the non-girl friendly hotels. In my experience and from other posts it seems the vast majority of hotels in Manila are girl friendly. It would be easier to list the hotels that are non-girl than to list the ones that are.

Maybe you could give us a heads up on your hotel so we will know to avoid it.

Am in need of a new camera to get back in to photographing my friends. Personally I like big clear pics, not small web cam. I like to see every goose bump and hair.
