Yo Bbond (or anybody in the know for that matter) , have you heard from anyone that has braved NLBT since all the cops were let go? I'd like to know because, my nephew, and my best friend's nephew both just turned 18. I know all cannot be all is well this early, but if at least you don't get robbed by the police on the way in, it might be worth a trip to take the kiddos.

But I only know one guy that goes regularly, hell he even went with crooked cops were there. He says it is pretty dead, but some girls are coming back. I may venture out there next week, I know the back way in, and daylight hours are relatively safe in that area. Right now, almost nowhere is safe at night. Rumor has it bad guys want the cops back (wonder why :)) , and are making things nasty in order to expedite that.

I would like to visit any of the south texas border towns. I live in brownsville. I have been looking at this site for quite sometime now. Is anybody going this month over there? If so, I would like to accompany. I am also new to the valley area. I did visit a few strip clubs here as well but the strippers won't hang out. Were demanding about 300-400 bucks. I need to know the system a little bit better. Please respond.

Will be going on my first trip to Nuevo Laredo Friday. Researched this forum going back to October. The maps that Bbond and Xfactors posted are excellent, I feel like I've already been there. Plan on getting a room at Motor Hotel Fiesta and hitting Intimo, Herradura, Montera and Jorrachos and probably Blue Fox. If I pick up a girl at one bar are they usually for bar hopping? Anybody want to, go let me know. Will give report after. I have to go to Envidia first on Thurs night to see a regular and then off to Laredo on Friday.

Still can have a good time, just stay at the Fiesta as planned, girls hang out close to there. Get some beer / cokes and ice to keep in the room.
Really, the bars are closed? It's a 3 hour drive from my house. Is there a specific reason, holiday or do you think it's due to the violence?

Closing was due to the violence, and reputed problems that are expected to arise.
Left in a rental car Fri. From HRL about 3:30pm and arrived at the bridge parking lot at 6:30pm. $8. 00 to park seemed kinda steep compared to 4 at Reynosa and free in Brownsville. All bags were being either hand checked or xrayed on the Mexican side. Stayed at the MH Fiesta for 410 pesos. Friendly staff and very small room. As long as I don't see any roaches I'm ok. There is a sign at checkin that says no beer in rooms, not sure why.
I decided to check out Herradura first. I got there about 9pm and there were a lot of full figured ladies, not my type unless they have a cute face and I'm on my 6+ beer. They had live music and the Bud lights were 25 pesos. Was approached by 1 girl, but it was too early. Had 2 beers and left for Montera. Montera was SRO packed. There were a lot of girls in all shapes and sizes. 1 girl with a short black pony tail caught my eye but she seemed very busy. Did a lot of people watching while standing against the wall. Bud lights were only 20 pesos. I didn't see any waiters walking around. I wasn't approached by anyone so I had 3 beers and left for Intimo. Intimo was very dead. I only had 1 beer and decided to head back to Herradura to see if things had picked up. It was still pretty quiet so I went back to Montera. I'm tired of writing so I'm going to chop this short.
Drank 2 beers with 2 doable girls at Montera but didn't stay with them long enough to ask if working because.
I introduced myself to the pony tail girl. She asked me if I wanted to go to the Zona, no security at entrance she said and she would drive us.
She got us over there, but she was very drunk. I could tell by the way she was crazy driving. I don't even know what bar we went to because I was so drunk. She asked me if I wanted to go to the room, I declined cause I felt I was past the point of being able to perform. Went outside to find a taxi and there were none. Ended up getting some friend of one of the waiters to take me back to my hotel and passed out.
No boom boom this time, but this was a good reconnaissance trip. I was going to Matamoros Saturday anyway. Will go back to Laredo in 6 weeks. I felt safe and did not see any police anywhere.

I ASSUMED there were armed soldiers, and armed Federales, and municipal cops with no guns downtown, keeping an eye on things. Is this not the case? WTF is going on in downtown there?

The night I visited NLBT, no cops, no military. Seems the local guides are even not present, very few customers, mainly just what the vans from the truck stops bring in.
Transitos are back and people ain't happy about that.
