How is the weather in Saint Petersburg now? Is it possible to have a easy walk by foot or a easy drive by car? Or is it better to avoid them?

Fellow mongers, I am planning a trip to SPT with 2 other friends. I have read the forum back to front but would like to have a straight opinion from more experienced SPT mongers.

First things first, how's the scene for Black guys. Is it likely to be dangerous, are those brainless thugs doing run-downs during the night if we cross them, or can one just go freely minding his own business?

I will be the only black of the group anyway but would like to know what can I expect before heading there. Please be honest.

Being on our late twenties and looking pretty decent and well-mannered, how are the chances to score in a "normal" club? Any local meat markets where we can approach fine women and eventually get freebies with non-pros?

Don't take me wrong we always go for plan A which is the hard work one and if this fails then we resort to plan B: Pay & Play

I would appreciate your sincere opinions, and also if you could help me with places to go and the concept that works best. We are Brazil fans, and we did the whole TERMAS thing. Is there something similar in SPT? If not, what is the best solution if after a long night we find out that going legit is not paying out after all. I kept reading about this place (Rossi), what is it? A sort of HELP like in Rio, is it a normal club with some odd pro's?

I heard about these "white nights", does it really worth it going there during that period or would it be pretty much the same as every other period of the year?

Please let me know all the must and must nots as we are eager to make our way to SPT but would like to do our homework before.

Don't go out alone - especially at night. Seriously. There are a lot of "Nashi" types out there who would like nothing better than to beat you to a pulp. Sad, but that's the fact.

I'm not black, but had a couple black colleagues visit me here (in Moscow). Can't speak directly to the Piter club scene, but there are places in Moscow where there are tons of black guys (mostly direct from Africa though). But even in the standard clubs, if you're good looking and well dressed, you'll do fine. Not all deffki will go for you, but hey, aren't we all in that boat? In all honesty, there just aren't many black guys in Russia, so at least you'll be a novelty.

It's cool, but IMHO not worth the extra cost of what you'll pay in hotel/apartment. And it's freakin crowded during that time with tourists. I prefer to go earlier (early May) or late (early September). But definitely not winter - it's even worse than Moscow (again, IMO).

I agree fully with what Pizdyets says. Just want to add a couple of things.

The St-Pete's club scene is much poorer than the Moscow one. As I said in my previous reports, I no longer go to clubs, but only to salons (apartments), and during daytime (because of risks at night if you're non-white).

To score with freebies in "normal" clubs, you have much better chances if you can speak Russian. 9 out of 10 girls I see don't speak English. Even for pay&play, you need to speak Russian to go to salons. Even girls who advertise as English speaking on the internet sometimes don't speak a single word.

There is nothing like a terma in St-Pete.

Interesting... I always thought a terma was an experience specific to Brazil, sort of like a south American FKK club. Are you saying that there are terma's in Piter? Or are you just using the word as a generic reference for a salon?

It was a reply to a question from Black Spot. He was asking if there is something like a terma in St-Pete, and I replied that there is nothing (zero) like it. I agree with you, there are absolutely no termas or anything similar in St-Pete.

Depends what you want, doesn't it? If you're looking for great museums, lots of sunlight, and hot (fuckable) girls, then Piter is a damn good choice. I like Piter a lot, in fact. But Kiev is a great choice too. Girls just as hot (if not more so - but a matter of taste), probably twice as fuckable given the exchange rate and lack of dollars there, and still a very beautiful city. The best plays for freebie pussy are without a doubt in the provinces, but you'd need some Russian skills there (check out Lukasek's recent reports). As for other destinations in Eastern Europe, I've been to pretty much everywhere - Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Slovenia, Albania, Hungary, Czech Rep, Slovakia, etc. Found the freebie pussy to be about the same everywhere. In other words, you have to work a lot harder than you do in Russia/Ukraine/Belarus.

You'll be on a tourist visa, no? It's a piece of cake. Guys like gotorussia.com can get you an invitation in one hour. Then you either visit a Russian consulate or have someone do it for you. Again, if you're not in a hurry, it's totally easy and not expensive. On the other hand, if you're an EU, Canadian or US citizen, you can go to Ukraine without a visa - which is a plus.

Having said that they do ask for a complete medical insurance. Do we need to do a pre health check as part of the VISA process?

A Russian tourist visa is good for 30 days, if your stay is less than 30 days then the process is fairly simple. If you want to stay longer than that, for the purpose of living or working in Russia, then the Russian government requires you prove to them that you do not have any dangerous diseases, such as the ones that Pizdyets just mentioned. The humour is that most of the diseases the Russian government is concerned about either don't exist anymore, or are so rare and unknown that the chances of anyone having them is almost impossible.

But they still want proof that you don't have them. Get it?

It's simply the sad state of affairs of trying to work in Russia. Any multi-entry visa longer than 90 days requires an HIV test from an accredited clinic. And a work permit requires additional testing for hepatitis, TB, chancroid (whatever that is), leprosy (which probably only existed in the gulags anyway), as well as chlamydia and syphillis. Surprisingly, no tests for gonorrhea. The irony is that all those are no doubt more prevalent in Russia than Western Europe and the US, but the same tests must be taken by all foreigners, regardless of country of origin.

As for medical insurance, they will want to see it when you apply for your visa, assuming you're an EU citizen. This is a matter of reciprocity, since most Schengen (EU) visas require that Russian citizens prove medical coverage as well. US visas do not, and therefore Americans do not need to prove medical coverage when applying for Russian visas of any duration.

The only thing extra I have had to do is fill out some lame form stating every country I've ever been to and if I have any military skillz etc.

Yeah, the barrage of tests is only for the work permit.

As for HIV tests, it depends upon the consulate you go to, but all I know of require it. You're very lucky that yours doesn't require it. It's all par for the course for Russian bureaucracy - a multitude of contradicting laws which are understood only to the degree to which they may be selectively enforced for the apparatchik's personal gain.
