My dear bro, Please get your facts right
Thank you so much dear bro for your valuable suggestions.
I would request you to consider some simple facts;
1. Everyone's views are equally important here. And more so urs my dear friend.
2. A 'newbie' is someone new in this 'hobby', not someone new on the forum. There are many senior veterans on the forum with under 10 posts or may be less than a month old on the forum, who are much vastly experienced, sensible and humbler than many senior members.
3. Just as ISG members are a tiny minority in this world of mongering, similarly the members with IDs on this forum (and more so those with even a single post) are also a minority compared to the 'guests' to this popular website. The website owners might have the details, but my hunch is that for every 1 member who has ever posted even a single post, there might be between 2 to 4 members who have never posted anything and about 20 to 40 'guests' (in Indian forums, against the overall average of 10 to 20) who regularly scan the pages, but never registered themselves as members. And mind you, these 'guests' may most likely be enthusiastic mongers with limited experience but they follow the forum closely and it is important to adequately address these friends, as their actions in the common playing field have a bearing on the experiences of all!
5. I have not criticised or abused anyone. But if someone has the cheek to call me a 'hog' and another joins him in insulting me further, all this without getting their facts right, please don't expect me to take it lying down.
6. And I did not undermine XXxxxxx's post. If you cared to read a recent post of mine, I had actually praised his prose sky-high and equated him with the legends of the literary world as well as those of this forum! Yes, we all enjoyed his post, but ultimately what happened? He posted amazingly well written experiences that gave the same kick as a 4 part sex story building upto a crescendo, managed to get contacts, got carried away by his well-deserved fame, made an apparent blunder for which he was castigated by one and all, and phew, he vanished. Maybe he was too disgusted with it all, or probably he decided that he was better off utilising his literary skills elsewhere. Point is what did the forum ultimately gain? A gem contact was first over-priced and then scared into leaving the scene altogether, plus we lost a darling writer who was pretty much scared off the forum in a similar vein!
My main purpose of posting on this forum is not to give enjoyment, rather sharing concerns and giving broad tips based on my experiences (I don't need to boast of or prove my writing skills, but it is generally not polite to underestimate others. Perhaps the argument is lost on people for whom allegory and allegation are similar words!). After my first post as an FR, I realised based on actions of veterans that it may be more helpful to provide broad pointers and helping infos to other members rather than posting titillating reports. The irony is that after a long time, I was actually thinking of posting my memorable experiences one by one when I logged in today to find such distasteful comments! And now I don't feel like doing so in the near future, lest it be seen as proving a point to others!
So I guess for the time being, I will continue to provide concise pointers to the scene in the open forum which can benefit even those without PM facility. Of course, reasonable and responsible bros remain welcome to exchange contacts via pm.
Cheers!
Till then chao. Have Fun, but play safe. And never forget to bargain hard. Remember Fun is the word!
Dear FunIsTheWord,
I am a so-called "newbie" on the forum and hence whatever I would say wouldn't have much of a significance, but still I wanted to share my 2 cents.
I would request you to please think before posting anything, whether something almost similar has been posted earlier or whether people would be interested in what you are going to say. If you are doubtful, please resist the temptation to post that post, because I would say, that I agree with CheesySleazy, it most probably is a spam.
There is a chance that your posts might help some new guy on the forum, but I at first glance was able to find only a few things in your posts which haven't been already said at some point or another in the forum.
Also I don't think that anybody would have a problem with you collecting contacts as long as you are using those and returning back enough to the forum. I guess people are not just here to get the contacts but to know the experiences of fellow mongers as well.
And please don't undermine the post of XXxxxxx. That was a true gem. Without being offensive, I doubt you would ever be able to write a post like that and I can say at-least for myself that I got more fun out of reading "the XXxxxx post" that all your posts combined.
Don't think all of it as criticism, treat it as suggestion (s)
