Sadly as more stupid people visit Bangkok (or very ugly people) the more the girls get used to demanding higher rates.

I do not do "short time" in that I can go to an oily place, have a shower before and after, have a bit of a rubdown, have an excellent time with whatever is wanted and you know its great.

Long time I do do, but 2000 baht is all they get, which I have never had a problem with and they always want to come back again and pass on their number for easy contact and some I do take them a couple more times before I get bored, so they must be happy with it.

Sadly many Thailand internet forums are filled with bar owners. And they are defacto supporters of higher prices and saying its all "ok" as men coming to bars and drinking and taking girls is their business. They want people to come, not wanting people to realise how ripped off you are and stay away.

Always bear in mind that with Thailand forums many many of the people are bar owners (esp Pattaya). They have their own agenda of attracting business and saying everything is fine, good normal, not overpriced etc.

Ok, that's about 50 euros, but if I am not mistaken, you can't say "buck" for one euro in English.

Cheaper options are still available in Bangkok, for instance freelancers and P4P girls working in certain Thai-orientated establishments.

Just remember that 3000 baht is about 35% of the national MONTHLY average wage in Thailand, so, 3000 baht here is equivalent to approximately US$1200 in the USA (when you compare the local average wages).

So, if you consider that 500 dollars is "a fortune" in the USA for a LT session, how about paying the equivalent of 1200 dollars in the Land of Smiles? I don't want to flame anybody here, but just put things in perspective once again.

It would still be very advantageous for Nike to pay those workers in the third world or developing countries US$7.25 per day, for instance, but international corporations are not stupid nor philanthropic and they pay what is considered as normal or fair locally (sometimes a bit more, but not much).

That's why it is not very relevant for a punter to compare local P4P (and other) prices with what it would cost in his own country.

Again, that's relevant even for the visiting punter. What is the difference between you and an international company employing (temporarily) local people? As a foreigner, it's understandable to pay a little bit more than a local for certain things, but not ridiculously higher prices.

Wouldn't you be an even happier man if you pay only 35 dollars instead of 70 because you know that 35 dollars is already a fair price in this country?

In my own country, I would pay for instance the equivalent of 500 baht for a som tam and I should be happy to pay "only" 250 baht in Thailand even if it actually costs only 25 baht for the locals?

Paying a locally fair price is what most punters should do, because it's sensible economically, but also because the locals would respect us more then. Just do it! ;)
