Stayed at Kokomo's and got the poolside deluxe room. With the AC on, you don't hear much from Voodoo. Great location. They probably should do a better job sealing the room both for noise and to save money on electricity for the AC.
Visisted several of the bars. In quite a few, I did not see anything that interested me (eye of the beholder and all that). In a few of those the wait staff were more attractive than the ladies on stage. Some of the large bars did not have anything I liked. Some of the smaller ones had next to nothing but a couple had a good selection. So I would recommend looking in all sized bars. The two bars IMHO that had the best looking girls were Dollhouse and Carousel (I did not go to every bar and every shift, so the sampling is poor)
Did only two barfines. They were different but both were good. I was a bit surprised that they did not push either lady's drinks nor the barfine as much as in some other locales. They did push the girls some. I had to ask about the barfine and on the plus side I approved on all lady's drinks.
It may be because I am from the USA, I felt a little uncomfortable with as much attention / time the wait staff spent on me. I realize that in less developed countries, that is not uncommon but it still makes me a bit uncomfortable. I did tip decently and that was both appreciated and remembered.

First of all apologies for this TR being so freaking late.
So after 30+ hours of travel I arrive NAIA. Finally! And a couple of days to party for myself.

It's ok, just go around this way through the baggage claim to one of the money changers! Can you believe that? So the guy disappears with my passport and I work my way through baggage claim and get some pesos. I go back to the immigration office and wait about another 10 minutes and the guy comes back with my passport and paperwork, must be my police check, I give him the 2600 pesos and he gives me a receipt, and passport / paperwork and tells me to get in the same queue that I was originally in. Get to the original guy and give him everything. Looks it over and he stamps me and sends me on my way. I look at the stamp and he just gave me a 60 day visa. Sweet. Now no worries about renewing at the 21 day mark. Pretty cool deal.
I had booked through email at Wild Orchid Resort and arranged pickup and drive to Angeles. Cost is 2600 or 2900 pesos, I forget, and includes tolls. Hotel told me that the driver would be in the waiting area at the bottom of the ramp. I'm about 30 minutes late getting out of the airport, but there he is right in front so I can see him. Perfect. I've spent several weeks in Angeles now and have discovered a legitimate massage place with really well trained staff. It's in the same block as the still under construction "Queen's Hotel" and not far from Orchid Inn. It's on a street running parallel to Fields, but two blocks over. The building itself almost looks like it was constructed to house a spa, as opposed to most undistinguished rented commercial spaces. They offer a full range of massage and facial services. One hour Swedish runs 350 pesos. All the tables have the face cut out and showers are available after the massage. They seem to be quite popular with the out of town Koreans on the weekends and are open until 5am. Strictly legit. Great place to get out of the heat during the midday.
In the approximately 7 weeks that I've spent in Angeles over the last 6 months, I've come to appreciate a few restaurants. My favorite is Al Bacio, an Italian place on Fields which I've probably visited at least 6 times. Nice atmosphere with dark timbered ceiling, one wall of displayed wine bottles, and good staff. Food was exceptionally good. From pizzas to pastas to meat and seafood. Might run 1000 with a companion. Second favorite is the new Fortune on McArthur. A couple of blocks from McDonalds. I haven't visited the original one further out on the same street. This place is a large brightly lighted Hong Kong style seafood place complete with fish tank. Ideally suited for groups who can share entrees. They do big business on the weekends and if you're a party of two, you may not get the service or attention that you'd like. They also have multiple private rooms for groups. It's a little more pricy. Just discovered Iguana which is quite far out toward Friendship. Mexican with a colorful interior and good food. About 100 trike fee to get there from walking street. Lastly is Piccolo Padre, a high end Italian place that provides an intimate atmosphere and very high quality food. They can probably serve about 24 customers. The chief is from Milan, Italy and his wife is Philippina. It's beyond Al Bacio's from walking street and you actually are well advised to have a reservation to get a seat. Unfortunately the local national dishes don't do much for me.
