Kalijodo gone, and a new Kalijodo?
I heard the city government knocked down the entire Kalijodo red light district some time ago. This was a place not for the faint-hearted. But for many years I really enjoyed taking the rough adventures. I have found many really unpolished gems from here. Also have seen some really gorgeous girls working here for peanuts. Really had a good memory from here for so many years, another place that has gone into the memory lane just like many other places in Asia.
I asked a few taxi drivers and they all told me that Kalijodo is completely gone. I even took a taxi to look to see if there is any residual activity, but there was none in that whole area, in fact these houses were flattened. But later on a Uber driver told me that Kalijodo has relocated into another area, quite far from the original one. I did not have time to check it, but I promised this Uber driver if he shows me the new location, I will buy him 2 ladies one night for present.
Anyone knows about the new incarnation of Kalijodo? I will try to check it out next trip into Jakarta.
Mangga Besar mobile brothels
I stayed in Mangga Besar 2 out of my 5 nights. I noticed for the first time there were many car / van brothels along Mangga Besar 8. I was walking down Mangga Besar 8 away from the main road passed Hotel Travel, I was called by a pimp and noticed a van with 4-5 girls in there. I took a look they looked mediocre but not too bad. Then the pimp guided me a few meters away and there were 3 more cars / vans with 2-4 girls inside. No one was outstanding but they beat the Lokasari workers by far.
The pimp then asked me my type, I told him slim, young, no baby, he then made a call, told me to wait 3 min. Then came another car with 2 girls inside. One girl had an okay face but really nice shape. The pimp told her to get out and told me to feel her. He grabbed my hand and told me to touch her tits and feel her tummy and tried very hard to sell her to me, keep saying no baby, young young, no baby.
He quoted me 500000 without room. I told him that is more than Hotel Travel nearby. He then said 400000, promised me good service. I paid and the same car took me and girl back to my hotel nearby.
The session was quite alright, she demanded a tip for BJ 100000. Later on, I walked around some more, I found out there were more mobile brothels in Mangga Besar. I even found a bajaj with 2 girls sitting inside nearby my hotel, and the driver was trying very hard to sell me. Both of them actually looked alright, price quoted to me again 500000, I am sure that can be bargained down.
A few hours in Kota Indah
Kota Indah has not changed much except a few shops changed their names. The last trip I came here must have been 4-5 years ago. I remember one time many years ago me and a friend were stopped near the entrance of Kota Indah by 2 police as we were walking to get a taxi, fake police or real I don't know, and we were extorted 100000 each for not carry passport with us.
This time, I got off Jayakarta station and put on my pollution mask that covers most of my face, and walked the short 3 min walk to KI. Made sure there were no uniform men around this time. I went in a few shops, and in general I feel the number of girls were less as compared to 5 years back. Each shop 10 to at most 20 or so. The quality was a notch lower than Travel or Classic. But I would say there were several doable ones.
I remember years ago the girls were in the fish bowl, but this time most of them were sitting outside in the customers sitting. I did not check all these shops, but checked a few. I am not sure I can remember the names correctly, Sariyu, Royal, LA, MRT, and 2 more I cannot remember the names. The price was also similar to years ago in my memory and almost the same as Travel or Classic. I was quoted 330 to 380, some places have different tiers.
So basically the price is the same as Travel or Classic, so I just don't think tourists need to come here unless you are so curious to see the entirely local scene. There was not much pressure from the mamasan. I just ordered a soft drink and watch the girl flow in a few shops. But spent 2 hours in KI and went through 6 or so shops, and did not see anyone that stood out.
But I decided to take a random acceptable girl just for fun. In the last shop MRT, I picked one with a slender body, face acceptable. I think she was either price 330 or 350, I don't remember. I paid 400 k together with a soda and a beer, and got some peanuts change back. The room was clean but a few level down from these rooms in Classic and Travel.
The girls do not speak any English here except yes, no, ok, and some common hand gestures like HJ, BJ. So far this trip the girls I met all demanded tip for BJ, this girl as well. She was quite fun, all smiles and giggle, and kept talking Bahasa non-stop to me even she knew I do not understand a word.
The atmosphere is entirely local, but I did not feel unwelcome, or feel uneasy. The whole night I only saw one other non-Indon, an Arab looking guy. It got quite crowded with local guys later hour. Soft drink and beer are cheap local price. It was kind of fun but I would not come here on regular basis.
