It gets you access to the SENTRI lanes as well as TSA Pre-check, Trusted Traveler, and way easier international crossings. (Don't get SENTRI, that's just for Mexico and is a lot harder to get). Drove back on SENTRI lanes Wednesday night about 11 PM.

A wingman has been using his Global Entry card for 7 or 8 years never had questions or problems with CBP. But last night, the cards were read by RFID, the CBP agent looked at his card and said, "You need to activate your card. It's never been activated. You are going to Secondary Inspection. " I told him he has been crossing with that card just about every week with me, never had problems. He hesitated then said " really? But it's too late now. You have to go to Secondary. "

Secondary Inspection had a couple US Army males and females in cammo fatigue, no side arms, directing traffic, running the huge X-ray machine scanning cars. Apparently lots of CBP agents have been deployed to guard the border with the recent influx of migrants, so US Army is helping with manpower. They made me drive through the machine a second time under 3 MPH then lined us up for inspection. The CBP men and women were gruff. They made me open the hood and trunk and did a quick visual inspection. My wingman showed them a pic of CBP's screen showing his card was activated. , but they were not interested. They took 15 minutes checking the allegedly inactivated card then returned it and let us go.

Another wingman had been crossing with his GE. Recently he was trying to register his car under Global Entry and found his card had been deactivated. Looks like there are glitches in CBP's data system. Check your card's validity before going out of the country.

A wingman had an interview with CBP's office in Otay Mesa before CoVid. It took only 15 minutes. 7 years ago my appointment took half hours because I registered a monger mobile, CBP had to inspect to make sure it had an engine in it hehe. Car inspection is now performed by Secondary Inspection first time it crosses. I renewed the GE card 2 years ago and got it in the mail within 2 weeks. The US government knows and trusts me as a good citizen.

Having to deal with CoVid and the influx of migrants at the Southern border, CBP is delaying everything. A wingman said there was no appointment in Otay Mesa until June 2022. Yikes. But people do cancel their appointments so you can move up.

You should make an appointment at the Otay Mesa location and fly in to spend a couple days in Tijuana checking out the chicas and testing your new card. Keep checking CBP]s appointment calendar to move yours up.

So from my reading of the forum, BBBJ and CIM are typically not offered at HK as part of servicio complete. But can they be negotiated and for about how much? Thanks!

Interview locations for SENTRI are only in 4 states bordering Mexico. That's one reason Global Entry is superior.

I'm not sure what the waiting period is like to get an interview. A friend of mine got his interview approved in 10 days, and found a nearby location with an open time slot 5 days after that. Some guys have to wait a few months, I'm sure. However long the wait is, the sooner you get the process started, the sooner you'll get your card.

There is no reason to fly to Otay for your interview. They have [url=https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry/enrollment-centers]interview locations[/url] all across the country now. Three years ago I got mine done in Chicago. Today I could do it in Kansas City where I live.

Global entry is great and has more than sentri card privileges. At Tijuana the line is called the Sentri line and Global entry is accepted.

You can walk-in for a global entry interview.

That's how I got my interview a few years ago. And my wife did the same last November (she had to wait 2 hrs at SFO).

So I would say take your chance when you have time to kill and see if you can get a walk-in interview.

OF course, if you are flying back from abroad then the easiest thing is to go the interview with the immigration official when you return to USA. Called enrollment on arrival: [URL]https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-traveler-programs/global-entry/enrollment-arrival[/URL].

They have a SENTRI interview location right there in San Ysidro, so for most guys who are hitting up Tijuana it's easy enough. I wouldn't say is "a lot" harder. It was really easy for me. Went to the interview and then straight in to party.

I registered a vehicle online recently and used it to cross already. No inspection at all.

If you are not near any CBP designated locations, the best location for the interview is Otay Mesa, where you can party with chicas for a couple days and quickly test out your new GE card.

There is no reason to fly to Otay for your interview. They have interview locations all across the country now. Three years ago I got mine done in Chicago. Today I could do it in Kansas City where I live.

I put off global entry and sentri for years because I'm cheap, I never know if I'll never return to California, and I thought I would hear more questions on why I needed it. Then I did global entry around mid January this year. Took 15 minutes online, approved in 48 hours, had an appointment in Los Angeles next day. People cancel night before so there's always openings. At interview no questions just thumb prints. Card was mailed to me in 8 days. Next to my car it's the most valuable thing I own. I can not stand watching the line cutters turn a 1 hour line into 3 hours. I start flipping out yelling out loud while to everyone else they don't seem to mind the line. If you add a car it becomes more complicated.
