HAVANA, Cuba – [url]www.cubanet.org[/url]) – Workers are rushing to finish a new correctional facility for women being built in Calderón, part of Alquízar municipality in Havana province, south of the city. Authorities have announced that the prison, with capacity for thousands of inmates, will be ready for use in three months.
The three existing women's prisons around Havana are all overcrowded since the raids carried out in the past months. Many of the inmates are serving terms of up to four years for “dangerousness,” a catch-all term that basically denotes having the potential for criminality.

In the case of women, it means prostitution or the suspicion thereof. Dangerousness is invoked whenever Cuban women are seen talking to foreigners, for instance, or when they are in the vicinity of tourist facilities or places frequented by tourists.

We 3 friends from Sweden trawling for the first time to Cuba/Havana ,No Spanish .

But I think we did the right thing.

We rent one car + Guide ( Guide=30 $/day)for the hole time.

And of curse rented one independent house for 3 persons in Miramar.

This guy help us with everything from morning to morning, book Restaurants took us to clubs and help us in the back way “no queue”, drive us around ca 2000 km.

He always kept his eyes on us where ever we was, we feel wery safe.

And best of al when we meet girls he guarantee us for them, we had never get close to this 8-10 p/girls without him, if the girls need to get home for a reason he drive them and they was back in 30 min.

We did never had problem with the polis probably because the our friend avoid them
without we notes it.

This was an girlfriend experience (24 h) for us, we got 10 different girls in house this
10 days .

Okay we me by let it cost little bit moor then it needed to, for us it was worth every €.

Price house 60 $/day/room, girls 80-100$ first day 60-80$ extra day.

I am glad that you had a good time. The prices you paid for the rooms and girls were at a premium. However, things have changed over the past few years and it is not as esay for new visitors. The price paid for the car and guide was very good but rest assure that he received a commision from all, including the restaurants and the chicas he found and the casa owners, if he arranged it. It's the Cuba way. Hopefully you kept contact numbers and for the next trip, you should be able to do a great deal better.

Cubans are going tu be rich if you and your friends return to "isla grande".

Good businnes for the guide. For a Cuban the salary for a month of work is no more than 6 or 7 $, so you can understand because your guide was always present as you said.

About the "casa particular" I hope you paid 60 $ for you all. In Ciudad Habana (playa and miramar) you can find rooms for 30 $ including breakfast. In the Habana suburbs and other tawns you can find rooms for 15 $ (max. 20 $) always including "desajuno".

I regret to uinform you that 80 or 100 $ for a "chica" is a crazy thing. In Ciudad Habana, girls ask this prices but you don't have to accept. You can agree with them no more than 30 $ (max. 40 $).

I don’t think they be rich, hope some of them do some good business on our trip. In my world I think this price is ok, why because in Sweden you have to pay 300-350 $/h.

I never try it in Sweden, but paid that money in USA, Japan, Taiwan mm many time. If you go to FF house in Germany you pay 50 € for 15-30 min go to Las Vegas and it takes 10 second from you filled the condom to the girl is out of the door (for 200-300 $). And I like to have people around me that serve and like me and not think am an as hole. If this means it destroy your " market " I am sorry for it. I go her to have a good time that means a lot of sex, but between the sex its very nice to have the possibility to talk and associate, with the people round you including the girls. The girl we meet in Havana last time was very educated and fun to be with (24h). I been with girls in Thailand and The Philippines that serve incredible sex, but its impossible to talk and have fun outside the bed. I think that some of the contribution in the forum defame the girls, this is the only way for them to make some extra many in this double economy. For as you sad the girls earn 10-20$ month and 1 litre of petrol is 1. 2$ they most earn money beside the system, al in Cuba must. As you probably understand I can afford that my vacation cost me for instance 2800$ instead for 2300$, for that I gat a lot of contacts in Havana and got better service under the time I been there. If I when I got there next time call one of the girls from my last trip, and offer her 40$ instead for 60-70 $ I’m sure she go with me, but do I got the same service? I think even you in your work, work better and give more if you got a better salary precisely like this girls. And if it cost me 3-4 beers moor on each girl on my most important time . My vacation its ok for me. I try to hold on my many, but I’m not spending my time on my vacation running round to get the cheapest of everything. I think that most of the time you got what you pay for.

Hi Jonas, you don't know Cuba and Cubans. Sure you have had experinces all around the world but Cuba is diferent. Cuba is Cuba. It was the first trip for you in Cuba and you think tu know some things about Cuba and Cubans. I'm sure that in the next trip you can find all you had found in the last time. But even I'm sure you're going to think diferent. You can be many times in Cuba and when you think to know all about Cuba and Cubans, it can happen something or you can to meet someone taht you have to say: "I don't have understood anything about this country" Dear Jonas: Cuba is Cuba and the Cuban girls are the best. The best in any sense. The best in love. The best in deception too. All you have found is the same that we all have found and we find. Friendship, solidarity, social acquaintances of quality, promisis of eternal love for you, always and only for you. Yes, it is. But all that turn around at your money, at your "dinero". When a "chica" find a "turista" is good for her and for is family and friends because, in theese days, they all are going to have "comida" If for us is normal have breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week, no so is for Cubans and, don't forget, the eternal love promised to me, is the same promised to you and it will be promis to a next tourist, perhaps arrived with te same aircraft you take to go home.

I do understand you, but try to barter the girls down. You'll be surprised. They'll stay with you for much less. For 100 $ u can have a whole handful of girls serving you 24 hours. Sure they ask for 100 $, because i bet your driver tells them you'll pay that. The more you pay the better he gets paid from them. But anyways, its your money & I dont think you distroy any market, because it's a once in a lifetime thing if a chica finds a tourist who's willing to pay her that much. Have fun!

I think Jonas and Marcopolo are both right. Cubanas are very nice. Like Jonas says: it is not only the sex but also the other things. Real GFE. But as Marcopolo says: finaly it is all about money and also: "Cuba is Cuba". Not always an easy country. There are always surprises. Sometimes good ones, sometimes bad ones.
About the prices payed. I think Jonas did pay too much. OK, no big deal. But lets not spoil the market. We don't want to pay US/Scandinavian prices in a few years. And beside that: more money doesn't always mean more fun. In Cuba I have scored great, eager girls for $10. But I must admit I also "scored" absolutely worthless girls for 60 CUC. Or better said: they scored me. Shame, shame, shame !!!

Does anyone know if there has been a crackdown on the ladies in Havana? My best love has not e-mailed in many weeks (really months) and I'm a little worried about her. I thought I heard they were cracking down on some of the known women and perhaps she got caught up in that. What a shame. Any information will be helpful.

There has been a 'crackdown' for a while. Alot of people I know lost their black market internet connections and had to go looking for another one.

E mail usuage has been severly curtailed on all fronts. Cubans who used to use e mail at their places of work can no longer do so. The only way you can get e mail at your place of work, if your job requires it. and even they are monitored. I have noticed that e mail sent to me from Cuba, from friends who are visiting, is that sometimes it takes 12/24 hours to arrive. Perhaps they are monitoring e mail at the central server. If you do correspond with anyone in Cuba, take care of what is said, names, places etc.

I just mailed with a friend in Havana. She sais, she doesnt know about any restrictions (at least not more than usual). She replied within 5 minutes.
Maybe your connections have found another wealthy yuma and moved to Italy or Mexico.

I'm in san jose right now and leaving for havana today. I should be in town until April 11th. In fact, I'm on a 10 week tour covering costa rica, cuba, dominican republic, venezeula, colombia, peru, bolivia, argentina, and brazil. My goal is to provide updated info from the places I'm going. The more help I get, the better my reports will be.

So does anybody have any info on current hot spots? I've gone through the last several months, and all I read is how bad things are, aside from jonas, who seems to have had a good time. (by the way jonas, was the price you quoted for the girls for the whole day/night? ) so far on my list of places to visit is, of course, the malecon and casa de la musica. Aside from that I'm planning on using my travel book to find clubs. I'm really am looking for gfe, all nighters. I'm 28 y. O.
