That includes the newer iPhones and newer Galaxy phones. But they use a proprietary CDMA network in the US. Its worth nothing that Verizon phones are not operative with other CDMA networks in the US, such as Sprint and the cheap Sprint resellers, and the old MetroPCS CDMA network.

I have also encountered Verizon branded phones on Ebay, that have been unlocked and can be used on GSM networks in the US. Otherwise, a regular locked Verizon or Sprint phone tends to be awfully cheap on the aftermarket due to their captivity.

One thing I have done is to change my Whatsapp number to a local SIM in a foreign country when I am in that place with a SIM. This way my home phone number is shielded and my foreign GF's cannot decide to ring my cell phone or have a direct link to my home life. This means of course that my US friends cannot locate my WhatsApp account with my US cell phone as before. So I have to get their WhatsApp number first and message them. Then we are connected.

I am sure you know that if you get a local girls number then you can search that number (with proper country code) and if she has WhatsApp she will pop-up often with a nice photo. I always get phone numbers and connect back via WhatsApp (or Viber depending on the country).

Also, I highly recommend BBM (Blackberry Messenger) which somewhat common in Indo and I use that a lot. For this reason, some girls will not have it on their phones and you need to convince them to download it. Most will if they want to keep you in their circle for future business. It has all the features of WhatsApp and many more privacy options. I avoid Whatsapp when possible. Same deal with changing SIMs it continues to work. Also will work on a tablet. Download in the US or when you arrive in Indo.

Last suggestion, if you use the national carrier, Telkomel SIM Pati, then you can download their app (My Telekomel) and easily manage your top-ups and chose data packages while you are in Indo or even offshore. You have to be onshore to set up the first time. I like this because I can load a data package before I board my flight and the moment the plane lands, Bam! I'm connected and sending BBM messages to the girls and arranging my afternoon or evening. Data is very cheap (1GB or $0.73) and good 4 G and some LTE coverage. Much cheaper and faster than AT&T or the US carriers. Often fast than the free hotel wifi.

However, when I realized they were a waste of time, I just plain uninstalled Whatsapp, as I saw WeChat as being popular at least with the people I was actually contacting. So, I was reinstalling Whatsapp in Indonesia with my XL sim after I got a request to connect on Whatsapp, and went through the process all over again. I am glad to hear that you can move from SIM to SIM with Whatsapp intact on your phone with all your contacts in place.

The only reason I mention it is that the news video showing the exterior of the building showed a "Kimochi" spa next door, which was a bit of a coincidence as I had never heard of it either until it cropped up in recent weeks on this forum.

It will be my first time in Jakarta, and I am looking for a bit of advice. Should I go to CJ or BAT on the Friday or Saturday night? Thinking also of visiting the the Pool at 1001 Hotel and Malioboro but what is the best time? Could go to the pool first and CJ later I guess. Also might try 1001 the KTV, but my guess is that it is no fun on your own.

Also other than the FL at CJ & BATs are there any place that you could take out a nice lady or two? Will also visit Malioboro.

You're better off hitting classic or travel or if you're more interested in service head to kota Indah (grand LA, starmoon, mtr, sari ayu, royal) or Kelapa Gading (king cross, mtr2, sumo spa, D heaven). You can find many girls in their early 20's at those places, all for the same as or less than you would pay for a malioboro girl.

Sorry, but that is flat out wrong. Makes me think you never went there. Most of the girls at Malioboro are just as young as the other places you mentioned. As a matter of fact, the last 2 girls I went with at Kota Indah were only around 20 years old, but had worked at Malioboro for over a year before working at Kota Indah. I have been with girls from King Cross, Hotel Classic, and all the rest who have started at Malioboro and now moved to those other places and were still young 20's. The last girl I was with at Malioboro was 19. There are some extremely young girls at Malioboro just like anywhere else. Hell, I took a King Cross girl to Bali once who had told me she was 20. But on her ID card it said she was 24. I asked her how old she really was and she told me she was 20 and had a fake ID made for when she started at Malioboro when she was younger because she wasn't old enough to work yet at that time. To say Malioboro only has old girls is laughable. The disadvantage to Malioboro is not that the girls are old. they are not. It's that the price is higher than the down market places. The advantage to Malioboro is I don't have to hang out in a crap dirty crowded smoke filled environment with low class locals. Kelapa Gading King Cross, Sumo and D Heaven are also good options similar to Malioboro. But MTR2 does not charge a cover so it's a step below in my opinion as far as environment simply because of the clientelle. I don't just care about where I can find the cheapest girls possible, I also care about the environment.

I wish what you were saying was correct. Maybe your visits to malioboro over the past 2 weeks were very different. I even stayed at Harris Vertu so I could walk to malio hotel. Maybe I just happened to choose 2 lousy weekend nights at malioboro. You have been there many more times than I have so you would know better. Each time I have been to malioboro it has been a morgue. About 50 girls sitting on their ass and maybe 5 customers.

Malio club does have younger girls than malioboro but nothing special over the past 2 weeks. You've seen who I like at starmoon, LA, and royal. I haven't seen that quality in malioboro or malio club. I first want to thank everyone for the information that you shared. On Friday, I arrived late so I just went to CJ. It there was a nice crowed, and with a group of nice ladies for all taste. YMMV, and I found it a bit too loud for my liking.

On Saturday, I visited hotel 1001 "The Pool". The place either had a KTV (and there were a few girls there) and the pool area, which I decided to visit. The place is really nice, with a somewhat dark (but not too dark) lounge area where you can chill ad have a beer or two. All the girls sit on the other side of the lounge, so you are not hassled.

When you are ready, call the mamasan and based on your requirements, she get you the line up. The rate is 1. 5 M for a local and 3 M for imports. I saw both and the quality of the girls are good and they are all welled dressed. The idea is that you get to spend 1 hour with the girl in the lounge (it is nice if you buy her a drink) to chit chat, and 1 hour in the room. If you are there with friends, you can take a private booth (by purchasing one of their bottles. Which is not really that expensive if you divided it by 3 or 4) to get the party started before heading to the room.

I did not see any "show"or anything, but then again, I was there early and left around 20:00.

After everything is finished, you walk out and clear you bill, either by cash or credit card. The only thing I did not like was that the cost was broken up all over the place, but it was about right.

Top notch place and will really, really visit again.

I miss those clubs. The thing that made me laugh the most at Mille's was the cross section of Indonesians you would see going in and out of the private rooms, if you sat around and watched for a while. You would see these respectable looking couples and groups, silver haired old girls and suited husbands, straight up the stairs and into the room. A bit like the Arabs, once that door closes it was game on and they were there to have fun.
