If you haven't started paying her rent or have given her any stipend yet, is it because money is a factor? Will you have a problem spoiling her by giving her things she asks for? Do you expect her to be exclusive only to you and be upset if you find our she isn't? If you answer yes to any of the questions, I suggest you strongly mull it over.

Granted, not all females are materialistic and I don't know to what extent your relationship is, but mistresses generally equates to moolah. There is no buyers remorse. Which brings me to QQ: have been trying the QQ world this Summer and have to say that in the current Shanghai environment (no saunas etc) its can give some good relief! The logistics are also not so complicated as I first thought (after reading der Xie's report a few months back. Thanks). But as always there are pros and cons: heavily photoshopped pics, often crappy apartments and low hygiene (vs regular Spas etc). You could probably avoid that by paying an outrageously high stipend, but otherwise she will no doubt supplement her income. If you're OK with that, no problem. It seems the real problem you have is having a place to do the deed. Seems simple enough. Since you have a resident card, rent a furnished apartment and have it be your phuck pad. May be a waste if you when you use it but it seems that might be your better alternative then looking around for hotels. Seems your mental dilemma caused a lot of vibe here.

Just would like to throw in a few more points:

- with an er nai set up you are more or less 'forced' to recoup your investment by going often, say 3-4 times a week, which might be inconvenient given other work / private commitments. But also, it will quickly get stale and feel like some kind of regular relationship. During the height of the crackdown last year I basically went to see my regular (in her workplace) 3 times a week. Service was good but since I did not want to explore other options (dangerous and little available at the time anyway) this regularity was kind of killing. And that was while not having to pay for an apartment etc, so I was quite free from a financial point of view. After a few months I reduced the frequency and started to venture out again (see my QQ comments earlier). They noticed my lower frequency and are asking what happened (ATM feeling). Just told them that I am traveling a lot this year.

- Try to avoid renting ST hotel in your name, while not sure if the hotels duly register these ST events with LE (as for real overnight stays), but how are you going to explain that a resident laowai is renting ST hotel rooms. Sure you can argue that she is your girlfriend etc and that both of you can not meet at home (like a lot of married Chinese lovebirds) but this is not something you should want. Always have the girl renting the room in her name and the hotel should not bother.

Since this is the current topic, I guess I'll share what I've been doing and how I've been handling it.

First off, I would like to clarify that I'm single and I wouldn't consider this an mistress situation. I currently stay in Shanghai for the most part but I often travel back and forth from Guangzhou. There's a chick who lives in Guangzhou that I'm fond of. I found her a place and currently pay her rent (6500). We have an understanding that I stay there whenever I'm in Guangzhou. No other men are to stay there as well or at least don't let me catch whiff of it. I give a little something every month to the complex security to keep an eye on her for me. I've told her it's fine if she hooks up with other men as long as it's not in our apartment because honestly, there's no way of stopping her if she wanted to. It's too much of a hassle to be of a control freak.

Every month, I send her 5000 plus gifts from wherever I've been, which isn't too much. So basically, I'm paying for her to house sit the apartment and for her time whenever I head to Guangzhou. She would also fly here to shanghai whenever I ask her to if I needed her companionship.

I don't know if this is what you guys are looking for but I hope it helps to give an option of what can be done.

I like her booking the rooms for you. I have heard also 4 star and 5 stars tend to be safer. There is no perfect solution. There are cameras everywhere you go in China. MPs, hotels, etc.

When SNG was an option, I never liked the idea of using my phone. I called directly. SNG never had my phone number. They had my last name for the 24 hours I was there but that was it.

I am careful so I would go the 4 start route myself. Save the er nai money and stay in nice places when you screw for the difference.

At Keric333, thanks for sharing your experiences. Your suggestion to rent my own place is a good one that I didn't think about. I'the have to think about upkeep and bills, but I like the concept overall if I can rent from a landlord directly.

At DIU, the service apartment is a good idea, as my upkeep is taken care of, but maybe the formality may be an issue. I am going to check it out, as there is a Fraser Suites near me.

At Changlelu and at SamCan, yes!, I don't want so many hotel stays in my name. I used to rent at 268 Hotels, which was great because they are cheap, I can check in before noon usually, whenever I checked out early they'the refund me without hassle, and a lot of 268 Hotels are so run down that their elevators didn't even require key cards. BUT, there was a 20 year old indie that used to book ST hotels for us, and one day, she suddenly said she didn't want to book them anymore because she didn't want all those stays on her record.
